I am considering purchasing another so I can keep one upstairs and one downstairs.
I have never seen a machine that distributes filth in such an effective way. If you are looking for a heavy device that will pick up pet hair, dirt, dust, and other debris and then shoot it back out onto your floors, then this is the vacuum you are searching for.
I found myself changing into long pants and boots before using it (even in summer), because the Eureka Pet Expert Bagless Upright Vacuum would launch projectiles (e.g. paperclips, tiny pebbles, and other small things) out the back with such force that they would sting my feet and legs. I was so pleased by this bonus feature -- and it wasn't even advertised!
The last benefit that I'll mention is the way the suction reduces over time. I have owned this vacuum for about two years now, and after taking apart, cleaning, and maintaining all pieces of it, the hose and brush suction is almost zero. I love this bonus feature -- it keeps the dirt on the floor where it belongs, and means that I don't even have to worry about emptying the dirt reservoir.
In a nutshell, if you are looking for a vacuum that spreads filth like a pro, has little-to-no suction, and requires you to wear protective clothing while using it, then this is the device for you!
My old vacuum cleaner was a Hoover bagged upright and that thing had power and excellent pick up. When it finally broke down on me after a good 8 years, I decided to get a bagless. I bought this one from a department store.
The very first issue I had with the damned thing was that it wasn't really picking up small debris that my old Hoover had no problem sucking up. Most would just fly out the back onto my feet or elsewhere away from the unit itself. WTF? I had adjusted the height a myriad of times and still got the same damned result!
Sure it got my German Shepard's loose fur from around the house, but other things like a dry grain of rice would just shoot off hitting something. So exasperated!
Another issue is that the hose attachment regularly detaches from the upright when you are just vacuuming. The hose is short and has tension that pulls itself out from the vac. Arrrrrgh! When I use it I have to keep an eye on the hose and push it back it when it pops out. I shouldn't have to be dealing with this!
The filter can be washed and should be washed like once a week. But It freakin' takes nearly a week for it to dry thoroughly.
The small beater bar hand attachment is a joke! It constantly stops when vacuuming the couch, an issue I never had with the Hoover.
People! Save yourselves the frustration and just don't get this thing. There are better vacuums out there for the money.
I initially wanted to say that this vacuum sucks. But it just doesn't "suck" right.
Instead, I decided to call Eureka. It turns out if you are having a problem with the vacuum picking up, there are 2 screws at the side of the vacuum (in the purple part of the vacuum) when it is upright. Remove those screws and check if the hose is blocked with hair etc. You may need to use a wire hanger to clean out the hose. The canister that holds the lint brush also comes off. be careful removing it. You need to push in both ends and then remove the gray thingy that holds it in (mine broke). now clean out the portion of the hose that goes down to near the floor.
Once completely clean reattach all the pieces. This is very easy it took me about 15 minutes to do this. Now my vacuum works like new again. I gave the vacuum 4 stars because the design is flawed.
