Right for the job I bought it for!,

This review is from: Eureka 3672B/F Mighty Mite Lightweight Canister Vacuum (Kitchen)
I live in a 20x20 apartment. The last thing I needed was a vacuum as big as a chair. This neighborhood, though, is noted as the dustiest in the state, barring people downwind from the cement factory. So I needed a strong vacuum with enough hose and wand to let me vacuum ceiling fixtures and high bookshelves. The portables would not do. As well, I have all tile floors. Something with a five-height beater bar would be distinctly useless. This vacuum with its simple floor head does a great job on hard floors. Part of this is because of great suction. If your hand slips over the suction adjustment hole on the wand, you will hurt from it. (Personally, I never understood using less than full suction.) Keep replacing the bags to keep your suction up to par. If a vacuum drops off, it is not getting weak: it is getting full. The floor head did a nice job on the ceilings, too. It is so light and simple there was no strain to using it up there. You can't say that about most floor heads. There was one only other attachment for the wand, a brush on one side and an opening on the other. You shift which side you stick on the wand when you want to switch tools. The brush did a great job of dusting the curtains (boy, did they need it!) without having to take them outside and shake them. The wand is a standard size, so I can buy a "brush fingers" attachment for doing all the mini-blinds. I could put this machine together and get to work without reading the instructions, it's so easy. Of course, I've also used a dozen different brands over the years. Certain things naturally go together the same ways. It doesn't corner sharply, but I never met a vacuum that did. It's light enough to shove around with my foot or pick up without strain, so I'd call it more manueverable than most. Bag replacement is easy. It is *not* the vacuum to buy if you are primarily vacuuming shag rugs or carpets that get fairly grotty. It will serve as an electric broom for picking up dry spills if you want a second canister in a big house.

Great on floors, excellent suction. A few design flaws.,

This review is from: Eureka 3672B/F Mighty Mite Lightweight Canister Vacuum (Kitchen)
PROS: Super suction. Stronger than my full-size Hoover upright. Excellent on my hardwood floors, for getting into crevices, on upholstery, dusting. Very manuverable. All tools store nicely on board. Since getting it, I only use my full size vac for rugs and carpets. The floor head in particular is very nice. Soft on the wood floors, but pivots well enough to clean well and maintain great contact.CONS: I ordered the optional shoulder strap so I could carry it around and have both hands free. The strap is fine but the attachment hardware. was a joke, dangerous even. It was essentially two giant safety pins that thread through the strap and then through two small holes in the handle. The ends were even sharp! If I used these, I would risk poking myself with the sharp ends. I threw them out and used small nylon/plastic "zip ties" instead. In my opinion, these warrant a manufacturer's recall. Also, the exhaust blow-out is very strong; you have to be careful where it's pointed. But this is probably the price you pay for such strong suction. The third flaw is the suction adjuster. It's a round cuff on the metal pipe that you turn to open a hole some or all of the way. I never want it open at all, but it's placed so that in the course of normal use, it easily opens whether you want it open or not. It should be able to be locked in the closed position.

A vacuum that really sucks,

You will cry "Eureka" with delight if you buy this vacuum. Its 9 amps gives you sucking power very nearly equivalent to that of a traditional, full-size machine. Plus, it's very well-thought-out, and with its long hose and lots of attachments, it will take care of 90% of your vacuuming needs. If you live in an apartment, this is really all you need. The only thing you can't do well or quickly is thick rugs. To do those rugs well, you'll have to get a big, "real" machine that costs three times as much. I'm withholding one star on the Mighty Mite because the vacuum attachment that comes with the machine is basically just a clip-on, and not a real electrified, spinning carpet attachment. Some people have complained about the noise, but I think it's loud (of course! it's a vacuum!) but nothing at all to be concerned with. Be careful on the price. I got gouged. Don't pay more than $100 whether you buy online or in a store. It's a great product, but don't get (here comes a pun) suckered.
