I live in a 20x20 apartment. The last thing I needed was a vacuum as big as a chair. This neighborhood, though, is noted as the dustiest in the state, barring people downwind from the cement factory. So I needed a strong vacuum with enough hose and wand to let me vacuum ceiling fixtures and high bookshelves. The portables would not do. As well, I have all tile floors. Something with a five-height beater bar would be distinctly useless.

This vacuum with its simple floor head does a great job on hard floors. Part of this is because of great suction. If your hand slips over the suction adjustment hole on the wand, you will hurt from it. (Personally, I never understood using less than full suction.) Keep replacing the bags to keep your suction up to par. If a vacuum drops off, it is not getting weak: it is getting full. The floor head did a nice job on the ceilings, too. It is so light and simple there was no strain to using it up there. You can't say that about most floor heads.

There was one only other attachment for the wand, a brush on one side and an opening on the other. You shift which side you stick on the wand when you want to switch tools. The brush did a great job of dusting the curtains (boy, did they need it!) without having to take them outside and shake them. The wand is a standard size, so I can buy a "brush fingers" attachment for doing all the mini-blinds.

I could put this machine together and get to work without reading the instructions, it's so easy. Of course, I've also used a dozen different brands over the years. Certain things naturally go together the same ways. It doesn't corner sharply, but I never met a vacuum that did. It's light enough to shove around with my foot or pick up without strain, so I'd call it more manueverable than most. Bag replacement is easy.

It is *not* the vacuum to buy if you are primarily vacuuming shag rugs or carpets that get fairly grotty. It will serve as an electric broom for picking up dry spills if you want a second canister in a big house.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great on floors, excellent suction. A few design flaws., April 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Eureka 3672B/F Mighty Mite Lightweight Canister Vacuum (Kitchen)
PROS: Super suction. Stronger than my full-size Hoover upright. Excellent on my hardwood floors, for getting into crevices, on upholstery, dusting. Very manuverable. All tools store nicely on board. Since getting it, I only use my full size vac for rugs and carpets. The floor head in particular is very nice. Soft on the wood floors, but pivots well enough to clean well and maintain great contact.

CONS: I ordered the optional shoulder strap so I could carry it around and have both hands free. The strap is fine but the attachment hardware. was a joke, dangerous even. It was essentially two giant safety pins that thread through the strap and then through two small holes in the handle. The ends were even sharp! If I used these, I would risk poking myself with the sharp ends. I threw them out and used small nylon/plastic "zip ties" instead. In my opinion, these warrant a manufacturer's recall. Also, the exhaust blow-out is very strong; you have to be careful where it's pointed. But this is probably the price you pay for such strong suction. The third flaw is the suction adjuster. It's a round cuff on the metal pipe that you turn to open a hole some or all of the way. I never want it open at all, but it's placed so that in the course of normal use, it easily opens whether you want it open or not. It should be able to be locked in the closed position.

4.0 out of 5 stars A vacuum that really sucks, January 27, 2004

You will cry "Eureka" with delight if you buy this vacuum. Its 9 amps gives you sucking power very nearly equivalent to that of a traditional, full-size machine. Plus, it's very well-thought-out, and with its long hose and lots of attachments, it will take care of 90% of your vacuuming needs.

If you live in an apartment, this is really all you need. The only thing you can't do well or quickly is thick rugs. To do those rugs well, you'll have to get a big, "real" machine that costs three times as much. I'm withholding one star on the Mighty Mite because the vacuum attachment that comes with the machine is basically just a clip-on, and not a real electrified, spinning carpet attachment.

Some people have complained about the noise, but I think it's loud (of course! it's a vacuum!) but nothing at all to be concerned with.

Be careful on the price. I got gouged. Don't pay more than $100 whether you buy online or in a store. It's a great product, but don't get (here comes a pun) suckered.

I bought this vacuum based on the following:
I am moving into a small apartment and I am a small person. Picking up upright vacuums is strenuous for me, and I didn't want to have to store something the size of an upright. Ideally, I wanted something that can clean all the floors of my apartment, tile and carpet without buying separate units. I was skeptical about buying a vacuum online, but it is from a reputable manufacturer, as my mom's steel olive green Eureka from the 70s continues to work well.

Oddly, I did not find the noise to be a problem, and the attachments stayed in place without any vibrations.

Here are my problems and disappointments with this vacuum:
The vacuum having a "floor brush" is misleading. There are no rotating bristles on this vacuum. While the suction is excellent on this vacuum, without a "brush" I do not feel the vacuum is really getting between the fibers of the carpet, and it is just vacuuming the surface.

The cleaning path of the floor attachment is not full width, it measures approximately 3/4" by 3" in the middle of the attachment. I believe a Black and Decker DustBuster has a larger cleaning path. Therefore, this vacuum does not have suction for the edges of the carpet, or against furniture. You will have to remove the floor attachment and use the nozzle to pick up debris close to baseboards.

Furthermore, it looks like in previous models the floor attachment locked onto the wand, and was released by pushing a button. On this model it does not lock onto the wand and comes off when I push the unit back and forth on a carpeted surface.

As this is a canister vac, sometimes it might bang into an object as it trails behind. The door to the bag chamber opened on me as a result.

The Mighty Mite would be fine if I had mostly barefloors with some small area rugs. Even better solution to this scenario though is the Dirt Devil Powerstick. The triangular floor attachment gets into corners and the suction is along the edges. The Powerstick is smaller and much more maneuverable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't get that big vacuum out for that little job, November 30, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Eureka 3672B/F Mighty Mite Lightweight Canister Vacuum (Kitchen)
WOW! We got our Mighty Might about a month ago, and have used it nearly every day since then. This little vacuum really has the suction, and it is small and sooo easy to handle. We bought this cleaner because it is such a pain to get the attachments out to set up the upright cleaner for those little jobs like cleaning around baseboards, in corners, small spills, and a thousand et ceteras. With this little machine, you just grab it from the closet and you are ready to go. And, does it ever do the job! I never intended to vacuum any large sections of carpet with this vacuum, but sometimes when I use it for a small job, and find it so easy to use, and working so good, I will find myself vacuuming a whole room while I have it out. I am not advocating that you buy this small vacuum for large vacuuming jobs, but it is sooo good for all those little jobs that you procrastinate rather than to get out the big vacuum cleaner. If you want to end having to get the big vacuum out, and get out the attachments, and then having to put it all away after a small job, then buy this vacuum!!! You will not be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad I bought it, January 11, 2003

I've had this vacuum cleaner for two weeks and I am amazed at how well it picks up dust and dirt both on carpet and tile. I bought it for the tile floors, but it is so handy and works so well I find myself using it on the carpets as well. It does a great job on both.

I found that it was well worth the extra few bucks to order the special attachments from Eureka--the dusting brush and the upholstery brush are twice as large as the ones that ship with the product.

especially for the price... very powerful and convenient. I have an earlier model that I have used steadly for about 12 years and the on/off switch broke. It is now relegated to the garage. I was afraid that the new model would not be as good, but it is and the bags are slightly bigger which is a plus. Since I HATE bagless vacuums I am pleased this one is still made and is still a winner. Highly recommended.

We put off replacing our old Eureka canister for years, knowing that "They just don't make them like that anymore." ...And we didn't want to spend a lot of money on something we wouldn't be satisfied with. I did that once, with a bagless upright, and ended up giving it away. Those things don't work on low nap and bare floors, but are probably fine on most carpeted floors.
If you're looking for something light and easy to use that will actually clean your bare floors, this is the unit to get. Make sure you get a supply of micro filters if dust is a problem for you as it is for me. I love that this Mighty Mite can be easily broken down for storage, and the flap on the bag will prevent the dirt you've suck up from coming back out!
Living in the woods with an indoor cat and dog ~ lots of pollen, dust, dander and just plain dirt finds its way inside pretty easily. This little unit works, and though I would like to have a larger floor head, it does the job like only a Eureka can.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful Suction, October 26, 2004
By

This review is from: Eureka 3672B/F Mighty Mite Lightweight Canister Vacuum (Kitchen)
I am mighty pleased with the Mighty Mite (har har)! I bought a condo with gorgeous rosewood hardwood floors, and wanted a vacuum designed for hard floors. This one fits the bill. It has excellent section--so strong that it's actually a little bit of work to move the floor attachment to the side because it's suctioned to the ground so hard--and sucked up everything a vacuum could be expected to. The large plastic wheels and the wheels on the bottom of the floor attachment left no marks or scratches on my gorgeous floors, which was a huge relief.

This is not a carpet vacuum. I used it on my thick wool area rugs and it did a reasonable job picking up the big stuff, but they needed a go with a real vacuum. It *might* be strong enough for a shorter carpet like a Berber, but I think I'd still want to use a regular carpet vac.

The Mighty Mite is quite loud, as some other reviewers noted, so don't run it while your neighbors are asleep.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loud but works well, May 22, 2003

I agree with the other positive comments. This is a durable sucker if you can put up with the wind tunnel like noise. I've had mine for several years now and it still has a powerful motor and works well on carpet, hardwood, and other surfaces. Not a sophisticated vacuum so it doesn't filter as well as a Miele but if noise and allergens are not important to you, a very good, dependable product.
