Bought this tent specifically for a trip to Torres Del Paine based on its size, weight, color, and brand reputation. The tent sets up easily, and packs up well although the nylon sleeve it comes with splits easily and had to be reinforced with duct tape after the frst time out. You will need to buy a footprint, bigger stakes, and guy lines if you are anticipating wind. An add-on attic is handy too. I used it for 6 nights and it held up well in 50+ winds with lots of guy lines and after a full day of rain it was leaking only slightly through the fly zipper seams (need to use sealer on those). Size is fine if a little tight for 2, the vestibules are nice and handy to store your pack and cook in.

This is a great tent for any camping, but especially for backpacking. It is very lightweight and simple to set up, with only 2 poles. The design of the pole fasteners make it easy for one person. Once set up, it is much more spacious than most 2-person tents. The dual doors and vestibules make for easy entry and exit. Also, the ventilation of this tent is very well designed. Most of the tent is mesh, and there is a spacious gap between the rainfly and the tent itself. This and the air vent on the side are designed to ventilate the tent well but still effectively keep water out. It is also a good idea to buy a footprint, it will prevent damage and keep water out. Great little tent, highly recommended.

Great tent for the money.,

I purchased 14 of these for our BSA Troop. We have used them 3 or 4 times. It is a great tent. When put up correctly w/ a ground cloth, I stayed dry in two nights of heavy rain. Those without a ground cloth were a little damp, but not soaked. Those who didn't pull the rainfly down tight and stake it got soaking wet. They learned. The tent feels a little heavier than they rate it. We weighed one with a ground cloth and it was 6.5#. It is hard to get into the stuff sack with a ground cloth. Overall, we are very pleased with this tent and would recommend it to others.

I bought this tent for kayak camping because of the light weight and it's free standing abilities. It sets up very quickly and easily. Without the fly attached one gets a great view of the stars as well as an airy sleep.
The fly provides adequate vestibule space and should provide adequate protection from the rain. I would classify it as a two season tent, as in cold windy weather it might be drafty.

I am an Assistant Scoutmaster and purchased this tent two years ago for myself and one for my son. We have used our tents for the past two years and have been very pleased with their performance. The first thing I did before our first camping trip was seal all of the seams. Even though the seams are factory tape sealed, I felt better sealing them again. The ventilation is very good, the tent is comfortable (I am 6'2"), and the fly works very well. In several nights of camping in the rain, I have not gotten wet once and the tent held up well in windy weather. The tents are roomy and very easy to set up. This is a very nice tent, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a very good tent at a reasonable price.

Pros: A breeze to set up and tear down. Adequate room for two + gear. I am 6'0". Ceiling loop works well for mounting a ceiling fan/light such as Coleman's Zephyr Hanging LED Tent Light and Fan. This does reduce headroom so I hang it up after I've laid out my gear.
Cons: Unzipping the fly on either side is literally quite a stretch because the zipper pull is at the extreme end of the vestibule. If the fly has rain or heavy dew on it you might get a little wet making that long reach. I use MSR's Groundhog tent stakes instead of the stock stakes. They'll go through the hardest ground. One note though, they're a tight fit going through the vestibules' plastic stake loops. These stakes have a notch one inch from their top. I slide the vestibule loop onto this notch. This allows the vestibule to remain a little higher off the ground thus improving ventilation. Ventilation is better than my old tent (Eureka Timberlite 3XT) since it has two doors but the ceiling fan helps too. With all doors & vestibules closed this tent breathes ok. Not great, just ok. I cannot comment on rain yet as I haven't encountered any with this tent yet.

Been using this tent for a few months steadily in Glacier National Park. Tent has excellent ventilation and is very roomy. Packs up small and is fairly light. Has held up well in 40-50 mph winds, hail and heavy rain in a thunderstorm with several additional guy lines attached, but also leaked slightly through the seams of the vestibule. Just a warning for buyers, waterproof the fly seams (probably should for any tent.) After a couple coats of sealant, tent was completely waterproof. So far a great lightweight tent!

A decent tent with a couple of issues...,
This review is from: Eureka Pinnacle Pass 2XTA Tent 2-Person 3-Season (Sports)
I took this tent out to the High Sierras where we encountered 2 nights of rain. Every seam in the rain fly started to leak after a couple of hours. Luckily, most of the water just stuck to the fabric and dripped down the sides. I suppose that is my fault though since I trusted the package when it said "sealed seams." They will be sealed the next time I go out! The other problem I had with this tent is the vestibule doors on the rainfly. The zipper pull is very far out and in a tight reach when the door is closed. Getting out at night to answer the call of nature was not fun, especially when it was raining. This would have been a great design if the zipper direction were reversed so that the zipper is close to the door instead of at the very outside corner of the vestibule. For this reason alone, I think I would have gotten a different tent but since I have it, it's going to be an alright item. When I bought it, it had the best price for the weight and features so I suppose I could cope with it's issues.

First tent I have owned since school days a lifetime ago. Very simple assembly and functional. I am 6ft and sharing with anotht person would be a bit "too cosy". However, I dont plan on having company and appreciate the extra room so 5x* from me.

Overall this is a decent two-man tent. If you're going solo, you have plent of room for sleeping and gear inside of the tent. With two, the vestibule gives you a fair amount of space for backpacking gear.
I've camped out in this a number of times in snow, rain (light and heavy), sleet, and fair weather so I've put it through some trials. The vestibule design is a little aggravating because when it's raining, the overhang is so small that it allows rain to get into the tent. Also, the zipper is all the way at the end of the canopy and it difficult to reach without rubbing against the canopy, again another issue when it's raining or snowing. On our last campout, I started to have an issue with the seams stretching and subsequently leaking at the corners. So, if it's fair weather, light raing, or snow, I don't mind using this tent at all. However, when it comes to fowl weather, I've started shopping around for a replacement. |
