5.0 out of 5 stars The very best cordless stick vacuum
Customer Video Review     Length:: 3:21 Mins
I compared this to a Dirt Devil 14.4V (model # 083414). They offer similar suction (adequate) and battery life (15 minutes).

The Eureka uses only 6V (i.e. more efficient motor and system) and can swap batteries. An extra battery is included in this EUK96DZ model (from my local Sears), all for $36, a better value than the DD (about $50)...

2.0 out of 5 stars I wish it sucked...
This product never should have made it to market. I understand that it is not designed for heavy jobs but it has very low suction and dirt and debris it does pull - falls out the front end when you pick it up off the ground.

I compared this to a Dirt Devil 14.4V (model # 083414). They offer similar suction (adequate) and battery life (15 minutes).

The Eureka uses only 6V (i.e. more efficient motor and system) and can swap batteries. An extra battery is included in this EUK96DZ model (from my local Sears), all for $36, a better value than the DD (about $50).

The DD can stand up by itself, very handy, while the Eureka is best to be used without its telescopic handle. If you'll clean multiple rooms at a time, go Eureka for you can swap batteries. If you need to clean in narrow areas such as cars and stairs, you also want to go Eureka for you can remove the long handle.

This ends my search for the best cordless vacuums and what I end up is:

An iRobot Roomba 530 for routine room cleaning ($250).
A Shark SV736 for random spot cleaning and for cars and computers etc ($36).
Optional Eureka EUK96DZ for even more convenience ($36).

So convenient and much less noisy. Farewell to cords!

As always, go to youtube to watch the video for better quality.

A tip: when searching for a cordless vac, don't just look at the voltage. Higher voltage marking does not necessarily mean more suction, as is in this case: the Eureka uses only 6V, less than half of the 14.4V of DD! What rules is a good system design and good parts used in the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact, cordless, and actually works, March 7, 2007
I was waiting to get this vacuum at Target because it was $39.99 but they never had it in stock - after going to 4 diff. Targets so I just ordered it online. I am so happy with it. I use it mainly to vacuum dog hair throughout our hardwood floor house and on the couches. I use the suction portion for the hardwood floors and then switch to "carpet" mode for the courches where the brushes roll and pick up the hair off our microsuede couch.

I'm surprised at how well the vacuum works, especially given that it's cordless. I mounted it on the side wall in our kitchen and it's a great daily/mid-week cleaner for our floors. Very light and easy to use.

So much better than the Shark cordless that I had to return after it didn't work at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I has bought it sooner!, February 26, 2008
Not to border on the ridiculous, but this vacuum cleaner has changed my life! I have a three year old son, a one year old daughter, a large (very hairy) dog & two cats. And for the first time since my son was old enough to feed himself I can go barefooted in my on home! I use this little vacuum everyday in my kitchen, family room, sun room, and dining room. And it works great! Crushed cheerios, glitter, and pet hair are no problem. We have very uneven Mexican tile, hardwood floors, and oriental rugs- and it works wonderfully on all three. The proof is there every time I empty it. I have never had the battery life fail in mid-vacuum, but I have never tried (nor would I) to vacuum the entire house with it. My only complaint is that I didn't buy it sooner.

I bought this as a replacement for another cordless vac. Very pleased with the suction, works well on carpet and hardwood. The proof is in the dirt cup each time I use it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Vacuum, September 5, 2007

Not the most powerful vacuum in the world, but what can you expect from a cordless? It does do a good job on our hardwood floors. We have a big 2800 SF house and both batteries can get me through it picking up cat litter & hair. Battery life goes down when you use the spinning brush setting. My wife is still skeptical because hair clogs up in the brush unless you use that setting once in a while so they clear out. However, if you use suction only for the bulk of the work, it lasts significantly longer. I haven't tried any others yet, but this one works pretty well. It's fantastic that there aren't wires to trip over or get tangled in. In fact it's kinda fun to vacuum again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cordless vac for tile/hardwoods, November 12, 2007
I just have to add my review of this great product. I bought it to quickly and cordlessly clean up all the pet hair balls that accumulate on our hardwood and tile floors. Sure, it was relatively easy to get the real vac out, but plugs, and cords and hoses later...it was annoying for a quick job. I got this to just quickly vac up those spots you always see and cant do much about at the time you see them. It easily picks up all my nasty dog hair balls that hang out in the corners of the room, and the charge has lasted more than 15 minutes each time I've used it (more than enough time to vac up all the spots I needed to). I don't use it on carpet, and the only downside I can see so far is that some hair gets caught on the brush roller that you will eventually have to clean out. Other than that, the rechargeability and good suction make it a winner in my house!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great light-duty vaccuum!, November 5, 2007
We love this vac. It's lightweight and does a great job for quick pick-ups and hardwood floors. The extra battery is very convenient as well. No more lugging our big, heavy vacuum on our stairs to touch up the upstairs hallway and rooms! We also have a cat and dog that live inside with us. This vac has done a good job getting all the hair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for studio space, April 10, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got this vacuum the other day and I love it! It's lightweight and quiet, and the suction is everything I need for carpet and hard flooring, picking up crumbs, dust, hair, and spilled cat litter. The cordless/bagless design and button-lock removeable stick make it very convenient to use on a daily basis. Also, I have long hair which can be murder on a vacuum, but the brush rod is built with molded "stoppers" on either end, and plenty of access space, so it's easy to use a thread cutter to clean everything out without taking the vacuum apart. The charger comes with a side cradle for the extra battery, with two indicator lights to show that both the vacuum and extra battery are receiving power. I use the charger self-standing rather than wall-mounted, just for the extra battery pack, and will switch out when needed.

The only criticism I can think of for now is that the stick wobbles slightly given that it's connected with a simple button lock, but it hardly affects the performance of this vacuum. It's just wonderful for studio, dorm, or small office life, and a great value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Carpet Quick-up!, January 9, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm surprised at the power this little cordless has! It picks up the dirt, dog hair and even little pebbles. A single battery lasts a long time, and with the spare battery ready, I can actually keep my place easily quick-swept. (I'm more a gardener, not a cleaner, so if it's not easy it probably won't happen.) Some cons: the filter case is a little difficult to remove, it would be nice if the "on" button was up on the handle instead of down on the base, and although the stick comes off for stair cleaning, it doesn't have a "Dust Buster-like" snout like, say the Electrolux Pronto (which doesn't have the same power). It does clean so well, I'd recommend getting a spare filter or two (they're cheap) so you can rinse one out and have another ready. I'm so glad I got this!
