5.0 out of 5 stars Great suction!! Great Price!!, May 10, 2010

I have been looking at canister vacs for a long time. I bought one, hated it (the floor attachment kept falling off, the filter kept clogging), and ended up returning it. I am pleasantly surprised by this little machine...the suction is great, it's not too loud, doesn't clog, and it's lightweight. Plus the price is right!! I was looking into getting a miele until I found this. I use this at my vacation home (a 60 year old ranch home that produces a LOT of dust) where all the floors are hardwood or tile and I have an area rug. The vac works fairly well on the area rug, too. The handle feels much more solid than the previous machine I had and doesn't fall apart. And I actually prefer the bag to the bagless version I previously had. It is so much easier to change the bag than pull out a canister and have dust flying everywhere. I highly recommend this for someone who has a lot of hardwood floors and wants to get up ALL the dust on the floors, in the corners, under the sofas!!!

I needed a vac in a hurry after my 10-year-old Kenmore died, and since I have hardwood floors and an upright sufficient for my area rugs I needed another canister for floors, upholstery, lampshades and the like, but didn't need one with a power nozzle. With no time for online orders I shopped around the city and ended up with this little red Eureka. After a month of use, here are my pros: excellent suction, light weight, disposable bag. The cons: cheesy attachments, but fortunately the ones from my Kenmore fit the Eureka wand, so I use them. They fit on the "tool caddy" on the handle, but the caddy itself doesn't stay put and is in the way anyhow, so I'm going to try to jury-rig some way of attaching at least the upholstery and small brush to the canister. (Velcro?) The cord is too short, requiring an extension cord; more seriously, it gradually retracts, all by itself, so I must find some easy-on, easy-off device to clip to the cord to prevent that. And the hose pulls out of the canister very easily, even if I'm just pulling the canister along the floor behind me. I had to mark the on-off switch with a marking pen so I wouldn't step on the wrong switch when starting. In short, this vac will do until I have time to find something better. Has anyone else had my problems with self-retracting cord and insecure hose attachment?

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Vacum Cleaner, December 29, 2009

I bought this vacuum cleaner because I've had good experience in the past with Eureka. I had a previous one to vacuum carpets, but now I live in a property that has all marble floors, so I needed a vacuum for floors. This vacuum is excellent for floors, and can do also carpets, but I would not recomment it if you have large areas with carpet. I suffer from allergies and I wanted a vacuum cleaner with a bag that you can just throw away, so this feature for me is a plus. It's is very light and small, easy to clean, maintain and store. I just love it.

I won't go into all the pros/cons, as I think other reviews have it more than covered. For $60 this is a good and capable vacuum cleaner.

But please don't make the same mistake I (and apparently many others) made and buy the "Generic Eureka Style "MM" Vacuum Bags, 9 pk. Made to Fit Eureka Part # 60295A"

Although listed as "Frequently Bought Together," these bags decidedly DO NOT fit this vacuum cleaner. They are designed for a different, larger, vacuum and are not usable in this one. INSTEAD purchase the CN-4 bags (ASIN: B003L20FT0 or B002WJI92I). Hopefully Amazon will catch on and correct the item page...

5.0 out of 5 stars This vacuum really sucks - in the best possible way!, April 8, 2010

I'm 2,000 miles away from my cyclonic upright, and I needed a good vacuum without spending a lot of money. This little gem fills the bill. It's lightweight - surprisingly so - but don't let that fool you; most of the cost must have gone into developing the powerful motor.

I took this to a rug that hadn't been vacuumed since Mme. Curie discovered radium, and despite the fact that the carpet tool does not have a power beater, the results were most satisfactory. It came with the floor and rug tool, an upholstery attachment, and a cute little thing that doubles as crevice tool and dust brush. I wish it had a separate dust brush attachment, but that's just about my only unfulfilled desire.

For the $60.00 I paid, I got a neat little canister vac that will serve me well, hopefully for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent floor vacuum, August 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eureka ReadyForce Bagged Canister Vacuum, 900A (Kitchen)
Our house has mostly hardwood and tile floors with carpet in 3 bedrooms. I have an upright Dyson animal vacuum that I bought a few years ago because I thought that it could handle all the vacuuming. It does a great job on the carpets, but is not so easy to use on flooring. It's a 2 story house, and the Dyson is heavy to lug up and down stairs. Plus with it being an upright I have problems with it tipping over when I use the floor tool. Since our whole lower level is wood and tile flooring I figured that an inexpensive floor canister vacuum would be the best option. The Eureka 900A fits the bill perfectly. It's a powerful vacuum that's priced well. It does a really good job on the wood and tile an even on area rugs ( which the Dyson sucks up & gets stuck on). Plus the Eureka is light enough in weight for me to carry upstairs to vacuum the floors there. Of course it's not meant for carpet ( I use the Dyson for that). If I didn't have the Dyson I suppose I would have gotten a canister vacuum that does carpet, but they're quite expensive and heavy too. The Eureka is just perfect for us. I like the retractable chord ( found on expensive canisters), and I especially love the color red. The bags seem quite small, but they hold a lot of dirt, and last through a few goes of the vacuum. You can buy a box of 3 bags at Best Buy for under $4.00. I recommend this vacuum if you have mostly flooring and are looking for a vacuum that does the job well without blowing your budget.

4.0 out of 5 stars amazing power in a little package, August 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eureka ReadyForce Bagged Canister Vacuum, 900A (Kitchen)
The Eureka 900A readyForce, which I lovingly refer to as my little red potato, packs a mighty suck for the buck. I wanted a cannister vac b/c they provide more flexibility, but wasnt ready to invest 200 bucks. I found this and after reading the other reviews I decided I'd give it a go...and am I ever glad that I did. I have a long haired himalayan and this little vac does not let one shred of shedded hair go untouched. It picks up everything! I also have a bad back, but this delightful little vac is super light. It is a breeze to carry up and down the stairs and easy to roll about as I clean from room to room. It's design makes it extremely versatile, and allows me to clean floors and curtains, and even dust hard to reach under couch and cabinet spaces. It makes the task enjoyable. I have to admit that for tougher jobs I have a construction vac, but for everyday cleaning I use my red potato.

Oh and did I mention that it is small. While I don't have storage issues, I used to live in a tiny apartment and wish I had had this vac then, instead of the massive beast that took up half a closet. If you live in a smaller apartment with less storage, this will fit right in.

There is only one aspect of my red potato that I think is a drawback, the cord length...but I have had this problem with all vacs. To resolve the issue, I simply keep an extension cord with mine and the problem is solve. I love my red potato!

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be HAPPIER!!, August 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eureka ReadyForce Bagged Canister Vacuum, 900A (Kitchen)
After MUCH research, and going back and forth between sites looking at reviews, I chose this little vacuum cleaner for my NYC apartment. I will mention that I had $50 in gift certificates from another seller who did not sell this model, and after reading the reviews and doing my research, I decided to forego using the gift cert's for a vacuum. I VERY glad I did!

I find that this model has all the bells and whistles that I wanted - GREAT suction, variable speeds, LONG expandable handle, great attachments, retractable cord.

Yes, the cord in it is VERY short, but it's a compact model, and frankly, that should be the least worry. I threw an extension cord on and was in business.

Amazon was great - did the super saver free shipping - expected it to take 7-10 days as advertised, and it was here in TWO!! Granted, I live in NYC, so maybe our mail is super fast here... but still, Amazon always impresses me.

Trust me, this is a great little vacuum. I'm really happy I bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great vac for the price point!, July 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eureka ReadyForce Bagged Canister Vacuum, 900A (Kitchen)
This is an excellent vacuum for the price point. I wanted an inexpensive bagged canister vacuum that had good reviews and that didn't cost a fortune. This fit the bill.

This vacuum has a dial to choose the speed/power level of the suction. Such a great feature. There's nothing worse then trying to clean draperies and having the get sucked into the hose. This is perfect for my needs.

I have a black lab who is currently shedding. I had no problem picking up the dog hair with this vac. I tried each of the attachments and everything worked well.

The weight of the vacuum is light enough to carry around. Even my younger children could easily maneuver the canister around.

I also love that one button retracts the cord. Such a bonus!!!

I did buy two packages of bags to go with this. I hate having to search for them. So far I haven't fill up the first bag that came with the vac but expect to fill it up quickly just because I've been overzealous with cleaning.

I recommend this and would purchase it again if I had to. Or will purchase it again when I need to. For all the cleaning I've already done...I'm pretty sure I've already got my money's worth out of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Small but powerful, June 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eureka ReadyForce Bagged Canister Vacuum, 900A (Kitchen)
I've had this for one day so take it for what its worth. I purchased this until I can afford something better like a Miele. The real test will be to see how long it lasts. I have harwood floors with two area rugs so for me its a good value for a functional vacuum.

Pro's

Price
Suction
Variable Speed Motor - Especially handy when you have area rugs
Light Weight
Retractable Cord
Wand attaches to base for storage

Con's

Wheels seem flimsy/ not rubberized
Everything is plastic/ weary about longevity
Cord is a bit short
