4.0 out of 5 stars good upgrade tent, January 9, 2009

I had an apex2 tent. great, sturdy, but i needed something smaller

the zeus is a way more light and compact tent
pros-
-compact
-light
-easy and fast set up ( i can do it in 1 minute more or less)
-freestanding
-good space
-has the bathtub design so water wont creep easily

cons-
- floor doesnt look very strong ( it hasnt failed, so maybe just
needs extra precaution)
- packing bag its not so good ( had to cut it smaller and added
straps )

overall it is a great tent. if u want an upgrade from a heavy and big package, the Zeus its a very good option. just buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Money well spent, December 28, 2008
This review is from: Eureka! Zeus 2 Classic - Tent (sleeps 2) (Sports)
I purchased this to lighten my pack on a backcountry trip and it has become my primary tent. Couldn't be easier to set up, doesn't even need a separate rain fly (like I am used to). I can attest to its stability in high winds. The front alcove is infinitely usefully and opens wide enough to get it out of the way. When I set it up it looked small from the outside but inside, easily fit two people with gear. Even played cards comfortably. The jury is still out on the floor which feels extremely thin and fragile, I am taking extreme measures to clean sticks and rocks from under it so we will see (that is why I am holding back one star)...

Hope this helps, best regards and happy camping!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good buy, November 25, 2008
A friend of mine has this tent, I've used it twice. I love the one-piece design, you lay it out, get the poles ready, clip it on and yer done. Extremely lightweight and practical. The flap on the front is an awning for gear storage. Definitely worth a little extra money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty great tent :), March 28, 2011

So I bought this tent about a month ago and have used it lots of times so far in the field. Not only does it keep you cool during the day, but it keeps you pretty warm at night. One evening in particular, it was extremely windy outside and I was worried the Zeus was going to collapse on me and the aluminum poles were going to break. BUT it didn't and I was honestly surprised. So it's also durable. Oh! It also packs up super small and I never have any trouble getting it into the tent bag.

It has a nice look to it and is super easy to set up. I would say I can put it up in less than 5 minutes. The floor doesn't seem especially thin, but I still bought a tarp to put underneath because I camp in rocky, sandy soils that could potentially rip the floor.

I think the stakes are a little cheap. I mean, the tent and everything is like 3 lbs 4 oz. or something like that so I understand the stakes are light and not super heavy duty. Anyway, I was thinking about investing in better ones (because it's very windy lately where I am and I don't want the tent to blow away).

I wish I could give this 4.5 stars. Partly because of the stakes and also because I kind of wish I had a rainfly. It has not rained on me yet, so I'm not sure how rain-proof it is. I will update when I do find that out.

Overall, I would say this is a great tent. It seems to have quite a bit of room and I think if my husband and I camped in it, we would have enough room for us and maybe daypacks and sleeping gear. So like 1.5 person tent, but most 2 person tents are like that anyway. It's great for myself and my backpacking gear. I hope this helps you. Thanks for reading.

I bought this tent for backpacking with the boy scouts. My 10 and 12 year-old boys used this on a 2-day trip and it worked out very well. On the first night, it was raining when we set up and being impatient boys, I could not get the boys to practice setting up the tent before we left home. So they are setting up this tent for the first time in the rain and I was busy setting up my tent so I was just giving them rough verbal instructions. They were the last ones to start setting up their tent (in our group of 5 tents), but they were the first ones to finish! So, I give it 5 stars for being easy to set up and light weight.

The first night we used it, it rained for about 4 hours and they stayed dry inside. But there was some condensation on the inside of the tent, but not enough to be a problem (not dripping). On the second night the temp dropped a little below freezing and and with two boys in there, the walls were wet with condensation and when one of the other boys shook the tent, it rained a little bit inside. I did not check to see if any of the vents were blocked.

The boys did not complain about being cold so I suspect the lower ventilation (versus a 2 wall tent) may have kept them a little warmer, which is probably a decent tradeoff for a little condensation.

I suspect with one person or warmer temperatures the condensation will not be so bad.

Purchased this tent for a 3 day backpacking trip in NH (Presidential range). Only about 12 oz more weight than the single person version, but more room. Worked well for me. It was single digits at night and we set up camp in the snow. Really quick & easy to set up...even when you are freezing. Friends had tents that you cannot sit up in, so I appreciated a little more headroom (I could get changed inside vs. outside). Noticed a small amount of ice forming on inside surface, even though well ventilated. This did not present a major problem. I had some wet/damp clothing inside probably providing the source of moisture. Good product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy To Erect, February 26, 2011

I purchased this tent to go camping as my last tent was a Eureka tent and I took that tent camping a lot. The only bad thing I didn't like about this tent is the floor is very thin and it is best to place another peice of plastic underneath the floor to stop hole's appearing in the floor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, July 18, 2010

This tent is exactly what i wanted. I'm a backpacker and it's a great weight and size. It's has enough ventilation to keep you out of your own condensation and is super easy to set up. The floor is thin so I purchased the Eureka floor saver (small rectangle (which just covers the bottom of the tent so if you want it to cover the ground in the vestibule then you need to buy a larger one and trim it.)) and am satisfied. I also purchased the gear loft for it which is very useful but does cut down the small amount of head room you have. I love this tent!

4.0 out of 5 stars good but not perfect, June 8, 2010

I have mixed reviews on this tent.

+ It sets up in 5 minutes
high quality
light weight
vestibule is just awesome
sturdy

- It's not waterproof (leaks in a few areas)
one of the poles broke on me (received a free refund, great customer service)
I tell people that this is a 1.5 person tent. It would be fine for a couple, but having another man in the tent makes the nights real intimate.
