4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent idea
This cheese bag works really well and saves messing about with cheese-cloth and bits of string. I was a bit worried about the size, but it is fine for curds from a gallon of milk. It also cleans up well (they say not to use soap) and just needs a quick soak in boiling water before you use it. I recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unfinished seams
The inner seams of this bag are unfinished and tend to unravel. I used it inside out to prevent the threads getting into my yogort. It can also be difficult to get the bag open once the string is wet. I actually rarely use this any more and just use a flat piece of muslin.

I make yogurt and like to thicken it without using gelatin. I fasten this bag to my yogurt container with a rubber band and suspend it over an empty bowl, over night in the fridge. I used to use cheese cloth but this bag is much sturdier and can be reused indefinitely, with cleaning between uses of course. I'm sure if left to drain longer it makes yogurt cheese, I'm just not into it.

I just made some good cheese with it. It works, it gets the job done. I haven't compared it with other cheese bags but it seems quite sturdy and survived my washing machine just fine - it seems to be a little tougher than a typical article of clothing.

Design-wise it's just right, no frills and nothing fancy, but using a bag instead of loose cloth solves a few problems cheese-wise. You can just pour the curds in and not worry about spillage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great For Greek-Style Yogurt, March 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Euro Cuisine Yogurt Cheese Strainer
I used to use coffee filters in a colander to drain my yogurt. I would usually let it drain for between 12 - 14 hours to get a lot of the whey out of it. However, using this bag, I let it drain for 7 hours before I checked on it, and the yogurt was already nearly the consistency of cream cheese. I can TOTALLY see how this would work for making soft cheese.

It easily fits a gallon of fresh yogurt - no problem at all. And, as another reviewer noted, cleanup is pretty easy. I just turned the bag inside out and scrubbed it with my hands (no soap), rinsed it thoroughly and hung it up to air-dry.

So, if you're into making your own Greek-style yogurt but don't want to sit around and wait for it to drain, get this bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nifty little bag!, September 12, 2009

I'm confident this nifty little bag works well for its intended purpose. I bought it, though, to hang on a hook in the kitchen and use to store a few bulbs of garlic, and it's perfect for that. This is just the plain, small, sturdy cloth bag I wanted. I had looked high and low for such a bag, and I kept finding everything else -- huge bags, teensy bags, plastic bags, bags made of synthetic fabrics, ill-made bags, unwashable bags, bags with drawstrings that were reluctant to draw, and far too many bags printed with "cute" graphics or tiresome mottoes (or both). But this bag is just right -- well-made in a useful size of good cotton cloth. In fact, writing this review made me think of other uses for these bags, and I believe I'll go order more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Great for Labneh and Cheese, December 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Euro Cuisine Yogurt Cheese Strainer
I bought this so I could make Labne, a Lebanese yogurt cheese made from straining the yogurt for a couple of hours.

The drawstrings allow me to hang the bag which is very convenient. The size of the bag is decent, allowing me to put in roughly two full standard-size containers of yogurt.

For use and cleaning, they recommend we soak the bag in boiling water before and rinse with hot water after, which works just for me.

Overall, is a great convenience and time saver and does what it is supposed to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yogurt Cheese Strainer, December 13, 2010

This product works as intended. I've made several batches of strained yogurt in it, and it's holding up fine. The the drawstring makes this bag valuable, since you don't have to mess around with trying to tie off the cheesecloth, and the tight weave doesn't let the tiny yogurt curds through. Not bad for about the price of a regular square of cheesecloth

While using cheesecloth for making yogurt cheese is often recommended, having a permanent straining bag is more economical to my taste. Simple to use, effective and readily available for use. Easy clean up.
