4.0 out of 5 stars Took a chance and I'm not disappointed!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Please guys, don't waste your money.
I know you have probably read the other reviews, and chances are, you won't get to this review. If you do make it here, take it from me-YOU DO NOT WANT THIS VACUUM! It's as simple as that. I stumbled upon this page, because I have exhausted my "on foot" search for the vacuum cleaner belts. It has been over a year-and I CAN NOT find the belts for this vacuum...

I had only heard of the "Shark" brand name in relation to hand vacs, but when I saw this one at a store I was intrigued: neat look, low price, nice design features(unlike some bagless models, you don't have to tilt the dirt cup downward when you remove it; filter is on top of dirt cup, making it easy to access; you only have to hit the foot pedal once to allow the brush to pivot, unlike my old Hoover; auto carpet height adjust). Also the weight was good for me, although it might be a bit much for someone very petite or with a bad back.
When I brought it home, I attached the handle(1 screw), and fired it up. Not only was it relatively quiet, but when I went back over a rug that had been cleaned the day before and got quite a lot more cat hair and general fuzz out of it; thanks to the super long cord, I was able to clean my entire first floor and stairs without moving the plug. This is my first bagless, and I don't regret the purchase!!

I stumbled upon this page, because I have exhausted my "on foot" search for the vacuum cleaner belts. It has been over a year-and I CAN NOT find the belts for this vacuum. Then, the thing smells like burnt rubber, all the time- works when it wants to,and yes CLOGS ALL THE TIME. I will not throw it away because the vacuum is almost brand new. I yelled at my husband because I thought he broke the vacuum after having it for a month-I didn't know everyone was having similar problems. Everything that everyone else described happened to us. I have been using an older vacuum of mine until I get "the belt" - now I know, I am getting a Hoover.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beltss, February 17, 2004
This review is from: Euro-Pro Shark EP708SH Spectra Bagless Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
Vacuum worked well until the belt broke. After a few hours on the net, I finally found the shark website to order more. If you haven't read the other reviews for this model, you can't buy these belts in any stores. Just though I'd share the web address for anyone looking for belts:

4.0 out of 5 stars belts for this vacuum, January 26, 2004

i had a tough time getting belts for this vacuum until i compaired the belt with the others at our neighborhood vacuum parts store. I found the belt that fits this shark spectra also fits a panisonic model which can be found at any local retailer that sells vacuums. The stock number for the panasonic vac belts is MC-210B TYPE UB. It's a bit of a stretch (not much) but it does work and at first you will smell a slight burning but it goes away after just a moment. It works fine. As for the filter clogging up, i use compressed air out in my garage and it works just fine. Don't make the mistake i made by washing the filter with water, you will eventually have to throw it away and buy another (15 BUCKS). good luck.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Vacuum, March 22, 2003

We got our new Euro-Pro Shark today. I am so embaressed. I had vacuumed two days ago and do so every two or three days. Our rugs need it due to 4 long haired cats and a basset puppy. To my eyes the rugs looked O.K.. I put the Shark together and ended up vacuuming three times as it just kept sucking up hidden hair and sand. I can't believe what a great job it does. Plus no bags and easy to empty and clean. I was hesitant about buying it due to the low cost but am so glad I did!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Vacuum Is A Keeper, May 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Euro-Pro Shark EP708SH Spectra Bagless Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
I was a little worried about this when I bought it because of the price. But I have been looking into bagless vacuums for awhile. Figured I had nothing to loose. WoW!!! I am amazed at the cleaning job. First time I got the biggest lump of dust and at the bottom was dirt. I then vacuumed my couch. Again it pulled up so much dust out of it. Kinda made me sick thinking we were living in this. I am a person who vacuums everyday, so now I know my other vacuum wasn't working when I thought it was. My advice....order yourself this vacuum and see for yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars GR8 suction, but "tap" cleaning & Customer Service suc k!, July 30, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Euro-Pro Shark EP708SH Spectra Bagless Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
This vacuum has a powerful look and a powerful suction to go along with it. But, the dust cup accummulates "fine dust particles" quickly which reduces the suction power. The "tap" cleaning of the dust cup is quick, But very messy. Just "tap" the dust cup on the inside of your waste basket and watch the dust cloud as it dirties your floor, your hands, and your clothes.
The worst part is that the accessories are not found in your local retail store so you must order then by mail or the internet. This is a hassle all of its' own. I have placed an order for accessories, which has now been on backorder since June 13, with another 30 day notice just sent to me. I can't tell you about the life of this product because as of now it will last FOREVER, sitting there in my closet waiting for accessories, instead of vacuuming my carpet.
My advice, stick with a known company, one that has high standards for customer service.

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective Product and POOR Customer Support, July 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Euro-Pro Shark EP708SH Spectra Bagless Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
I do not recommend buying a Euro-Pro/Shark vacuum. I purchased my vacuum early in the year, and it constantly shuts off after vacuuming for after no longer than 10 minutes. (I've checked thoroughly for clogs and am not a heavy vaccumer.)

The 800# for customer support is always busy. Busy for MONTHS! It took me months to get through only to find out that they want me to send it away for repair, COMPLETELY at my shipping and handling expense and wait 8 weeks for a repair. My vacuum is still under warranty, but it doesn't seem to matter.

This is unacceptable customer service in this day and age. This was my first time buying a Euro Pro vacuum, and it will be my last.

STAY AWAY!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this vacuum! It's a piece of junk!, March 16, 2006

We got this vacuum as a gift at our wedding shower. I didn't know much about vacuums when I did my registry online and so I added this one to my registry. We had this vacuum for a year (used it about once a month if that) and then when we bought our house we started to need it more but it decided to stop working. Hubby took it apart because there was no suction and couldn't find anything wrong with it. He put it back together and still no suction. Right now it's sitting in my basement since it's practically new but soon it'll be going to the dump. Very hard to clean. Filter is ALWAYS clogged. Basically, this is a piece of junk!!!!
