5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
I've never written a review before, but I think this product is worth writing about. We have tried numerous other, similar steaming products and found this one the best and very useful. I have a tough to clean high chair and this steams off the stuck on bits of food. I have dogs. I clean whatever messes they make, spray the carpet with cleaner and steam over it,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money!
We ordered this product from HSN 10 months ago. Although we used it frequently on our tile floors, it was not abused. We paid over $200.00 and it lasted just shy of 10 months and then would no longer heat the water. The warranty does not cover labor or shipping....only parts. By the time we get done paying for needed repairs, we are better off buying another...

I've never written a review before, but I think this product is worth writing about. We have tried numerous other, similar steaming products and found this one the best and very useful. I have a tough to clean high chair and this steams off the stuck on bits of food. I have dogs. I clean whatever messes they make, spray the carpet with cleaner and steam over it, making the place smell great. It has a tremendous amount of steam at a very high pressure. I've used it to clean the bathroom from the tiles to the bowl and I don't think the place has ever been cleaner. Finally, I used it to steam my kitchen cabinets (they're white). They seem to get cleaner every time I use it, as I find/see more detail than the last time. I would buy it again and highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Once you get the hang of it", May 22, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Euro-Pro EP961 Professional Steam Cleaner (Kitchen)
I was intrigued when I first read about steam cleaners but quickly dismissed them as something that "works" on the shopping channels but not in real life. I took a second look after reading a review in the New York Times from someone who had purchased this model and swore by it.
I first used the steamer on my shower and was somewhat dismayed. The gunk in the shower tracks seemed to fly everywhere and I was confused. After some trial and error I realized that steam cleaning is all about steaming and wiping. You need lots of cloths and very shortly you figure out the pace. This machine works REALLY WELL for certain things. Small electrics (e.g. coffee maker, stand mixer or toaster) in the kithen look brand new after steaming. (You steam and then wipe.) All the junk in the cracks and crevices melts away and there is a shine that I don't see with regular cleaning products. Windows get really clean too, although I don't use the tool included specifially for windows. I steam and wipe with cloths. However, I do use the window tool on screens and they truly shine! Light fixtures are so much easier to clean with this method. The heat from the steam and the air pressure really blow the dust and dirt away. And tile literally looks brand new. The inside of the refrigerator is so much cleaner after using the steamer. I still used a wash cloth with soapy water, but for sticky, hardened gunk the steamer truly was useful. It's also great after using soapy water to use the steamer to remove all traces of residue. Everything looks brand new! Once you get the hang of it, I think you'll find this an extremely useful product. Be patient and openminded. The first time I used it I was SO annoyed and then got the hang of it and now I wouldn't be without it. I am very satisfied with the Euro-Pro EP961.

I have bought five euro-pro steam cleaners three for Christmas gifts and two for myself. All have malfunctioned within three month time. The expense of shipping these back for repairs is very costly say nothing about the length of time for the repairs to be done (10 weeks). Do not try to reach customer service as the line is always busy. I feel someone should be held accountable and start listening to customers who have spent a lot of money thinking they are getting a good product and service (which both lack). I also think the place of purchase should be more helpful in getting euro-pro to better serve their customers. It's not only about selling a product but being able to satisfy and go the extra step to help customers resolve any issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars The King of Steam Cleaners, November 29, 2002

Do yourself a favor, if you are going to buy a steam cleaner don't go with the cheaper models. I tried three before this one (including cheaper euro-pros) and ended up returning them all for serious flaws in design or how they worked. It swivels around easily like a canister vacuum, and with a two liter capacity; you will run out of steam, long before it will. It has helped tremendously with allergies, and especially love how it does windows, walls, and doors. I don't use it every week, but take it out periodically for the "deep cleaning".

1.0 out of 5 stars STEAM CLEANERS DON'T WORK, VAPOR CLEANERS DO, December 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Euro-Pro EP961 Professional Steam Cleaner (Kitchen)
I bought this cleaner several months ago and it barely did anything. You would expect that a "steam" cleaner would spray a hot mist right? Wrong. It was barely warm. Later on I purchased a VAPOR cleaner from another internet dealer (vapor-systems.com) and let me tell you, the vapor coming out of its nozzle was blazing hot. I couldn't put my hand near it. The other internet dealers product would clean any surface instantly. I suggest that if you are going to purchase any type of steam/vapor cleaner that you go with a vapor cleaner.

1.0 out of 5 stars Works great but does not last long., January 3, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Euro-Pro EP961 Professional Steam Cleaner (Kitchen)
I purchased this model from HSN about 2 years ago. Once I finally took it out of the box and started cleaning, I could not stop. It was great at cleaning everything. Once I was done, I really felt the house was clean. Then the day before company was coming for Christmas, I turned it on to heat up, there was a flash from the bottom, then the heating unit was dead. It still has power, but no heat. It took perseverance to find a number and then reach customer service who was less than helpful. She advised that I would have to pay for shipping and repairs and that it was probably not worth it. When I asked for a local dealer, she could only advise to check with any small appliance repair. I suspect from the other posts that I will find out that it will be cheaper to buy a new one. This is definately the way to clean, and I feel lost without it. However, it appears from the other posts that mine was not an unusual event. So while I will buy another vapor cleaner, I will not be investing my money in this brand anymore if this is the best they can do with their supposed high end model.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great machine short on longevity, January 29, 2004
This review is from: Euro-Pro EP961 Professional Steam Cleaner (Kitchen)
Its very sad that Euro-pro has made an excellent product that doesn't last and offers consumers limited options for repair. For the past two years I have used this machine to remove wallpaper, a calcimine ceiling and eggs pitched at my house on Halloween. It is has been amazing at cleaning the usual household objects and freshing clothing. I loved it so much I purchased a smaller version to keep at my parent's house and I have recommended it to at least 20 others.
The internal gaskets must have failed and now the safety cap leaks steam and the machine makes frightening noises. I am just going to pitch it because it is dangerous and is too costly to repair.
To paraphrase Ricky Riccardo "Euro-pro you have some 'splaining to do."

4.0 out of 5 stars Better at cleaning some things than others., April 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Euro-Pro EP961 Professional Steam Cleaner (Kitchen)
I found the Euro Pro Steamer to excel at certain jobs and be a little lacking for others. It is exceptional at cleaning grout lines and any nooks and crannies that would normally require large or small brushes and elbow grease; like around oven doors, dishwasher gaskets, bike parts, light and plumbing fixtures, grates, window and door tracks, register covers ect. While it is exceptional at cleaning the "icky stickies," I haven't found it really practical to clean large flat surfaces like bathtubs or counters, tile floor aside.

My cleaner has a design flaw in that if you raise the handset over the hose to work above shoulder level for instance, heated water will run out from the point of attachment between the handset and extension tube onto your hand. This burn risk is not addressed in the use and care instructions, and much care should be used when working up high.

I wouldn't recommend using the machine outside unless the temperature is warm and have found that on a cold day, the water doesn't get hot enough to do much of anything. Also, if you require assurance that cleaned surfaces are sterile as in a previous review, this is not a good choice. According to the use and care instructions, the temperature at the nozzle is between 220-240 defrees F, but falls to 100 degrees 10 inches away. I was surprised that anyone whose job it is to work with raw meat would think Euro Pro an adequate surface sterilizer.

Additionally, I am not completely sure I purchased a new machine as the manual arrived with a childs writing on the back cover. The company has not responded to my inquiry whether or not it is reconditioned and covered under the factory warranty.

This machine isn't a cleaning miracle, and I am still experimenting with the attachments but I have found it useful at cleaning some difficult areas and therefore give it a positive rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Machine, December 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Euro-Pro EP961 Professional Steam Cleaner (Kitchen)
When a friend told me she bought a Eureka steam cleaner on sale from a local discounter and said what she could do with it, I just had to have one, so I checked my favorite shopping site, Amazon. Decided on the Euro-Pro and it's worth every dollar. It shames me to say that my tile floors, especially in front of the stove and sink were grungy. Gone are the days when I did them on hands and knees with a brush and bucket. It took several passes, but the floor looks new. I then tried it out on a wool bathroom rug the cat piddled on, which I had sprayed and scrubbed,to no avail. Voila! Clean rug and no odor. One glitch:the machine arrived without the angle adapter, but an e-mail to Amazon and a quick response from Niko in Customer Service solved that. The manufacturer will send it to me directly. The only other comment is the instruction booklet covers the basics adequately but doesn't mention emptying the machine. My experience is let it cool, then open the water spout and dump it out, using rubber gloves as a precaution. I filled it with the suggested amount of water but given the floor space I cleaned, maybe half would have done. Super machine; worth the investment as opposed to having a cleaning service do it for you. Go for this one. Thanks, Amazon!
