5.0 out of 5 stars Rarely do I award five stars ...
Having had at least three previous hand-hald vacuums (from Dust Busters to corded units), this one is the best. In fact, my wife just bought a second one so that we have one on each living floor of the house. Once I get my basement workshop in shape, I'll probably get a third one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the time
We bought one of these about a year ago from Amazon and the vacuum seemed to do alright. When my wife went to turn it on one day and use it , it made a sound like a fire cracker went off. The fan inside the unit shattered into a hundred pieces. Since the unit was within its warranty period I called Euro-pro to see what I needed to do to replace it. I get on the phone with...

5.0 out of 5 stars Rarely do I award five stars ..., September 5, 2009
This review is from: Euro-Pro SV769 Shark 16-4/5-Volt Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
Having had at least three previous hand-hald vacuums (from Dust Busters to corded units), this one is the best. In fact, my wife just bought a second one so that we have one on each living floor of the house. Once I get my basement workshop in shape, I'll probably get a third one.

This unit is convenient, very powerful, and well-designed. It comes with a beater-bar rug attachment and a velocity-enhancing crevice tool. Both work well. It is well-balanced in the hand. It recharges quickly. It can be easily emptied and cleaned for the next using. The last time I used it, it was to clean up the remnants of a broken small pyrex bowl that didn't survive a four-foot fall onto a tile floor. Ooops. But the Shark gobbled it all up in one pass. By the way, we also own two of the floor model Sharks and are equally happy with that product as well.

One reviewer dissed the unit because it ran down after fifteen minutes of use, dubbing it a "lemon." That's possible. But frankly, having owned now five of them (two Sharks), I can't imagine running one for fifteen consecutive minutes without putting it back on the charger. Such a comment suggests that one is using it to clean the entire home or apartment and possibly expecting more than a hand-held may be prepared to give. Or maybe it IS a lemon.

I would think that to use a hand-held comfortably for fifteen consecutive minutes, one must be no more than two feet tall and VERY strong for one's size.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Design - Also Available at BBB, April 26, 2009
By
Saint Rowan (Los Angeles, CA, USA) - See all my reviews
This is one of the few designs that has a motorized rotating brush, making it great for fabric (esp with animals). Strong motor and has a solid feel, which also makes it a bit heavier than other hand vacs. Just note that I saw this model (VX33) at Bed Bath and Beyond in West Los Angeles on 4/25/09 for $59.99, less their 20% coupon brings it to $48 then add the new and improved sales tax in LA county of 9.25% brings the bottom line to $52.43 or just over 13 dollars less than UnbeatableSale is selling it for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, September 14, 2009
This review is from: Euro-Pro SV769 Shark 16-4/5-Volt Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
I have not owned a hand-held vac for years, but had to get one after I got a yellow lab. I love this Vacuum! it has a lot of power and the brush attachment works beautifully. I have to empty the filter after almost every use because of the dog hair, but it will effortlessly clean my area rugs and keep the house looking better without me having to haul out the big vacuum every day.

I get on the phone with a customer service person that can not speak very good English and tells me that I did not buy a new unit, even tough I had the receipt to prove it and then proceeds to tell me I will have to pay to return it and get it fixed. I think it is very bad customer service when you can stand behind the products you sell, and then try to get more money out of your customers for your lack of quality. I would stay away from these people with a ten foot pole. I wish that more of these reviews were posted so I would not had wasted my time or money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shark Cordless is terrible, September 8, 2010
This review is from: Euro-Pro SV769 Shark 16-4/5-Volt Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
This is the worst handheld vacuum I have ever had. It looks great in the pictures and the idea of a powerful motor is very appealing. They just forgot that it is supposed to be a vacuum! There are multiple, serious design flaws. First, the nozzle has a rounded opening instead of a rectangular opening. This means it is almost impossible to get it flat on the ground, so it doesn't have strong suction and doesn't pick up much of anything. There are two attachments, a powered brush which spins so slowly it is useless and a reduction nozzle. The brush just knocks dirt around. It was totally ineffective on the carpet, tile or in the car. The reduction nozzle has the same problem as the main nozzle, namely it is round, not flat, so it is very hard to get it properly aligned when using on a flat surface like a counter or the floor. The charging stand is also flawed. It does not hold the vacuum firmly so if you put it in a high traffic area, you are likely to knock the vacuum out of the holder and it will fall and break. Service is in India and though they were very courteous, it is very, very difficult to deal with them due to the scripts they work from and their lack of empowerment.

This product has a great look, but when it comes time to use, it fails miserably. I would never recommend this product to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars You can replace the batttery!, February 9, 2010

Much has been said, but the one key thing I would add is that this and most every Shark mini vac has a removable replaceable battery. This is key as inevitably a rechargeable battery will die and you'll be left with a piece of junk to send to the landfill (case in point, Black and Decker cordless vacs, as I learned personally).

Shark gets big points for being a more environmentally friendly product in my book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible handheld vacuum, July 6, 2010
This review is from: Euro-Pro SV769 Shark 16-4/5-Volt Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
I bought this handheld to replace the Dirt Devil I had for 2 years. The Dirt Devil was really noisy, so when I bough this Shark, I was pleased at how much quieter it was. It worked well in the beginning and I especially liked the motorized brush, but after a couple of months use, the brush stopped spinning. I cleaned the brush and it would start running again only to stop after a few minutes. I tried the other nozzles and they were just as bad! The battery life on this vacuum is poor as well. I should've gotten another Dirt Devil. This was an expensive purchase for only a few months use. So disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good suction, decent battery life, disappointing carpet attachment, August 21, 2010

I purchased the Shark vacuum in May based on a recommendation I got from another Shark user. I liked that it was cordless, very powerful and came with a carpet attachment. I have mostly wood floors, but with two cats I needed something that could get pet fur off of the rugs/furniture. I'd say if you are planning on using this vacuum on mostly hard floors it's a good buy. It has decent battery life (assuming you follow the instructions and charge it for 20 hours prior to use and let it completely discharge before plugging it in) and it has very powerful suction. It's loud (loud enough to scare my kitties), but it does a good job on hard surfaces.

The carpet/upholstery attachment was great when I first started using it. It got almost all the cat hair off the couch cushions and seemed to get pretty deep into the carpet. The problem came ~ 2 months after I started using it. The brush stopped spinning, which I assumed was a result of having hair wound around the roller. I took the cover off the attachment and it was actually the drive belt that kept slipping off. I fixed it once, only to have the belt slip ~5 minutes later. I tried fixing it again, but the belt just won't stay on. It could just be that I got a bad attachment, so I won't knock too many stars off.

The Pros:
Good suction
Good battery life (make sure you read the instructions!)
Great small attachment (really helps with corners/edges)

Cons:
Carpet attachment didn't last. It really does nothing for you if the brushes don't spin.

I own a different model of the same type Shark and it works fine but this one is a dud as the power head with a different design repeatedly falls off with back and forth motion. I am not quite sure why Euro Pro makes so many models with so many variable power ratings...The one I own and kept is fine, a 15+ volt model in green but has no wall carrier...This one does have a carrier but is otherwise worthless.

This cordless vac performs great! I have had several cordless vacs and I must say that this shark vac is more powerful than any I have had in the past.
