Amazing Little Machine,

This is an amazing little machine. The price was incredibly low. It really works and sews an excellent seam. My only complaint is that the light didn't work or it would have gotten 5 stars. The reviews I read indicated that the light didn't help much, so maybe I'm not missing too much. I bought it for my granddaughter (6 years old) so she could sew while I use my big machine, but plan to use it for minor seam mending instead of pulling out my big machine.

I'm glad I got this as a starter sewing machine, and for something so cheap it seems to be a decent machine. It's not some sort of miracle where you're getting a $300 machine for 15 bucks, but it will do basic sewing with nice strong stitches. But I encountered some obstacles that any other novices out there should probably know about. I had read that the accompanying instructions are terrible (and they are), so one thing I liked was that the machine was supposed to come pre-threaded. I figured I could see how it was threaded and then reverse-engineer how to do it myself. But it was terribly packaged -- someone had stuck the original box into a much larger box with no packing foam or paper or anything to stabilize it, and the smaller box had come open, spilling pieces all over the place and wrecking the threading. The bobbin was off, the thread was broken and tangled, and if there was ever even a needle inserted into the machine, I couldn't find it. Fortunately there's an extra needle packaged with the accessories. It took me a long time with the idiotic instructions and Google to figure out how to set it all up properly, get it threaded, get the thread to stop tangling up under the pressure foot, and I've got it sewing but am still not 100% confident that I've managed to figure out every little bit of stuff like "Does this piece of thread go over or under this bit here?" If it had been better packaged and arrived in a shape that allowed me to figure out exactly how it should be set up, I would have been totally happy that I'd gotten what I paid for. This also would probably not be an issue for someone who knows their way around a sewing machine better than I do. But I'm now glad I didn't send it back, and I appear to have a tiny little basic sewing machine. It's so light that you can move it around easily, good for apartments where you're moving your projects on and off your table, and it makes perfectly nice stitches for very basic purposes. I wouldn't try something complicated with this, but it'll hem pants and make basic garments, and for things like that it's better and faster than hand sewing.

This is truly a piece of junk,

I bought the machine from Target a year before for $19.99. Later today I took it out to try to stitch two pieces of cloth together. It's very simple job. However, the thread just kept stuck at the tension disc. I spent two hours but still can't even go for 2 inch. I can't figure out how could somebody shamelessly build and sell this junk product! It's completely useless!

I received one of these as a gift, and was disappointed to find that it really is not functional. If you baby it A LOT, it can sometimes make a few good stitches, but for the most part, there is jamming at the lower bobbin beneath the foot. It's also almost impossibly difficult to get the tension right.
The instructions were short and vague with blurry black-and-white photos that looked like they were taken in someone's steam-filled bathroom! I'm not sure what they are included at all. The only redeeming quality is the little package of bobbins and thread that came with it. There were many colors, and pre-wound metal bobbins that I will be saving for use with another machine. I also noticed that this model is sold as several different brand names, though it is the EXACT SAME MACHINE. By looking at the other reviews, it seems that it did work for some people, but I'm thinking that they were just really lucky to get a functioning machine. Bottom line: Save up for a Singer or a Brother "normal" machine. This one is just not worth the headache, if you are fortunate enough to get a functioning machine at all.

I actually want to give it a no star review but I was not allowed to. I was very disappointed with this machine. When I received it in the mail, it looked like it was opened n I set it up 2 use it n it just didn't work-it was a total waste of my money.

Total waste of money. Microscopic instructions are useless. You're better off paying more and getting a decent machine that will last more than 1 use.

These shameless liars state on the box "Durable metal gear for long time use".
I open it up - all cheap plastic gear. Besides that they supplied power adapter with wrong polarity which caused the machine to go in the opposite direction. What a garbage!!!

Would get jammed after every 5 or so stitches, and couldn't get the tension right, either the top was loose or the bottom was loose. Spent a solid 2 hours trying to put together a VERY simple dress. Gave up on the sewing machine and did it by hand.

You pay them for shipping, they send you junk that you then return. The cycle probably continues for eternity.
Mine had a broken off button, everything loose and tangled. Not original packaging, just a box with a sticker thrown on it. Mine would not even thread the bobbin from under the sewing plate. After trying different materials and threads, I gave up after a couple hours. Could not get it to thread a single stitch. I'm throwing it away and taking the loss to spare some other unsuspecting customer the time and money.

I got this little guy on Black Friday for $10 a number of years ago and put it on the shelf until more recently, as I'm trying to become more adept at sewing.
At first it worked ... okay. You know it only sews one stitch, right? The bobbins that came with it frequently get tangled to heck and the little guy chokes on thick seams, like when I try to hem a pair of jeans and stitch over the thick seam (not entirely unreasonable for such a little machine, I guess). At the moment, it refuses to hold onto my thread - a fairly basic need for a sewing machine - despite following both sets of instructions (picture and text are slightly different and text refers to something not labeled in the pictures), so I cannot sew anything more than an inch with it before it loses the thread entirely. I am quite displeased and hoping to get a real, working sewing machine soon. |
