You have to remember what you are buying..., January 17, 2006
This review is from: Euro-Pro Shark 13-Inch cleaning path 3-Speed Cordless Sweeper (Kitchen)
Wow was I worried about buying this sweeper after reading the reviews! Insofar as the customer service issues, I can't comment as I haven't dealt with the company directly. Now, to the procuct itself. About the people who complained about performance - remember that you are buying a 'sweeper.' There is no suction. This thing will NOT perform a vacuum's duties. I got this thing because I had to rent an apartment while doing a corporate relocation. My old vacuum wasn't so good and I didn't want to move it from my house into a cramped apartment since I intended to replace it anyway. So, I figured that I needed a little sweeper to do the 'surface cleaning' in the interim. It works great!!! I've had it for over a month and it's excellent on low and med pile carpeting. It picks up kitty litter from vinyl and tile flooring (BIG deal for me since I have two kitties). The Shark is by no means perfect, but I'm taking into account that it does what it does without the benefit of suction!!! I was also concerned about battery life from reading the reviews. If you remove the battery pack, you realize that it's not very big and shouldn't hold a massive charge. It doesn't. But, it holds enough charge to run on carpet for about 20 minutes. I think if you need this for much longer than that each time you use it then this is not the right tool for the job. Buy a vacuum. That's what they are made to do. Okay, reality check...obviously, if you use this on a carpet for a month, your carpet will be FILTHY just below the surface (you know, no suction...). I bought my new vacuum (Eureka Boss 4870GZ - FANTASTIC MACHINE). The vacuum pulled quite a bit of dirt, but the place didn't LOOK that much cleaner. I have no intention of replacing the Shark with 'Da Boss.' The vacuum is heavy and loud and requires some staging to use since it's AC powered. I have a 3-year old and I would have the vacuum out about 15 times a day. The Shark is quick, light, and has a comfortable grip. I follow my kid around the house with it and use the vacumm twice a week. The carpet never looks trashy. I hope this helps with making your choice. All in all, the sweeper is a really good tool if you use it for what it was designed to do.

This review is from: Euro-Pro Shark 13-Inch cleaning path 3-Speed Cordless Sweeper (Kitchen)
I read the reviews- all of them- with an open mind, because I thought personally, I sometimes will like a product that no one seems to like. I wanted to try a cordless vac, and I did own a euro pro wonder vac one time, and it performed well for me, so I decided on this one. I didn't buy it here, but I paid about the same price and it is the same model. I sure wish I didn't and here is why... While it does pick up some things, it also left stuff behind and it sounds like it always losing power- I ran over a piece of paper the size of a dime 3 times before it actually gave in and sucked it up.. It is lightweight, and it does go under tight places, but it just didn't perform well and it is brand new! I let it charge for the 20 hours, did everything right, and it just doesn't have much power. Running it just reminds me of using a child-like vacuum- I guess if you are just wanting something to do very light surface cleaning, this is your vacuum. I just want to get the dirt out of my low pile rugs and hard-wood floors, and I don't want to have to run over small objects on the floor multiple times. This seems more like a thirty dollar vacuum, not a fifty dollar one..anyway, I tried it, despite the negative reviews, and I am sorry I didn't listen because I won't be able to get my money back.. I guess for you out there that are considering this vac, I would think twice about this one, and make sure that you can at least get your money back if you don't like it.. hope this helps.

RE: Bitten by another Shark, March 6, 2005
This review is from: Euro-Pro Shark 13-Inch cleaning path 3-Speed Cordless Sweeper (Kitchen)
Yesterday I received the latest addition to my "Shark" collection - the Euro-Pro 13 inch, 3 Speed Cordless Sweeper (modeLV647H). I am certain Euro-Pro changes the model numbers frequently in a vain attempt to hypo sales. I did not purchase this latest gem from Amazon.com (instead I foolishly paid $10 more for this my most recent lesson in purchasing defective products); I bought this item online from one of the "three letter" outfits. Yes, I did buy the item in spite of the "first person", always helpful Amazon reviews......foiled again by my own refusal to learn from the past. After charging up the sweeper for the recommended 20 hours (seems like an unusually long time, but I wanted to follow instructions to the letter)I prepared to remove a sizeable amount of dust (dust only - honest) that had accumulated under my bed (two years worth I believe). Unfortunately the "Shark Gods" had declared that such was not to be the case! After ten minutes of continous (not intermittant) operation I experienced smoke rising from the sweeper's head assembly and a distinct loss of dust "pickup" capability. I then emptied the plastic box-like dust "cup" and proceded to resume my cleaning with a similar result - much smoke, no vacuuming capability. What always amazes me is how smoothly the Shark demos go on tv whether it is "Mark the Head Shark" using the now legendary "steam bottle" (which I also purchased elsewhere much to my regret) or some smiling demo lady (usually "Elizabeth") vacuuming away, sucking up every piece of dust, hair and grime in sight on an anonymous carpet or steam cleaning bathroom/kitchen fixtures while I sit enthralled viewing the always exceptional cleaning experience on my tv set. However, when I purchase the same advertised Shark product all heck breaks loose and malfunctions reign supreme. Needless to say (but I will anyway) this latest Shark is going back in its tank and I will promptly return it to Plattsburg, New York (headquarters) or somewhere in Virginia (at my expense of course) to the three letter company where I purchase it - using a three letter company (UPS)for the job. The 30 day trial period must have been invented for Euro Pro/Shark - it has saved much misery in the world. Needless to say they have the greatest marketing department in the history of retailing.... Ah, but I will continue to purchase Euro-Pro products for the "thrill" of briefly using them and then paying for their return to the vendors. Is this living? Probably not. Regards, Jim
