Great little sweeper!,

This review is from: Euro-Pro Shark V1725 Quick-and-Quiet 10-Inch Cordless Sweeper (Kitchen)
I have this one and the 3 speed shark sweeper, and I like this one alot better. It is more compact, so it gets around places real easy, where the other is 13 inches wide and won't fitin certain areas as easily. I use it everyday and it runs fine, with no problems. The bigger one seems to bog down on carpets, even when I set it for carpets, but not this little guy.. Oh, and this quick n quiet sweeper is alot quieter that the bigger ones, but does the job as good or better in my opinion..

One of the best purchases I have ever made,

The Euroshark sweeper is one of the best items I have ever bought. As the video shows, the sweeper is very versatile and useful. It works in either carpet or tiles, although I think it works best on carpets. What it DOES pick up: I have been able to pick up glass, nals, screws, paper, hair, dust, chocolate mix and many more things. This sweeper does pick up all of these things. I once broke a wine glass in the my carpet and the sweeper was able to pick up most of the pieces of glass. It allows me to do a quick sweep of the place to try to keep things neat. What it does not pick up: Crumpled up paper (as in the video), but it does pick up bits of paper. Battery: The battery lasts a surprising long time. Days actually. I charge my sweeper every 2 weeks or so (depending on use; I use it about 2-3 times a week and live in an apartment). I am not sure how long it actually takes to charge but I believe this is specified in the instructions. With this sweeper. Emptying the sweeper: It is really easy to empty the sweeper. You just remove the compartment and dump it in the trash. I do have to say that it is annoying to clean the bristles of the sweeper. Hair strands get tangled in the bristles and it is hard to get them off. What I usually do is to use a pair of scissors to cut them up and then clean the bristles. Bottom line: This is a great investment and will make cleaning better, quicker and easier. I hope the video is better and that the quality is ok. Update: 9/11/2008: Ok, so the sweeper rebelled on me. It got clogged, started making strange noises and would spit out all it had cleaned. So, thinking I am a repair genious, I took it apart. What an ordeal! Take this advice I give you: Do Not Take It Apart! After I cleaned it, I could not put it back together. After a day of trying, I put it back together...in some form. The noises and reduced performance remained. But, somehow, the sweeper has been working very well again. It does not have the same strength, but after I dismantled it I cannot expect much. So, I still stand by my 5 star rating. I love this thing.

I got this sweeper to sweep dog hair and pine needles off the hard floors (I live in The Evergreen State, and there are a lot of pine needles getting tracked in!). The sweeper did well getting these things swept up, plus I swept everywhere faster and without breaking a sweat (I am 9 months pregnant, so this was important to me!!). I was able to get dog hair and kitchen crumbs off the flat carpet mats in my kitchen, too. Those are the "pros."
The cons are that the sweeper can't sweep right next to baseboards, so you get a 1-inch strip of floor that stays unswept along all walls and under cabinet edges. The dog hair and crumbs, etc. migrate from this strip onto the floor you just swept, and it still looks a little dirty. Also, the dog hair wrapped around the sweeper bristles like a hairbrush, so that after one sweeping session I had to get scissors and cut the hair off the bristles. I'll have to do this every time I use the sweeper, I guess. The dog hair rolled up in the wheels of the sweeper, too, and I couldn't get it all out. Also, the sweeper works best on exactly flat surfaces. My stairs have a little lip at the front edge, which takes the edge of the sweeper up a tiny bit. It's enough to prevent the sweeper from doing a good job on the stairs (not to mention that it can't sweep the edges near the walls and back risers). Overall, if you want your floor to look nice for company, you're gonna have to use a broom. This sweeper is good for in-between sweeps, when you're just trying to keep things from getting away from you.

This little sweeper works so great in the beginning. My first 2 worked great and then the battery wouldn't hold a charge. After a month each, I couldn't get the sweeper to run for more than a minute before the battery would die, and that was on a full charge. This 3rd and final sweeper motor died after 5 months, I turn it on and I can hear a low wurring sound, but not the roller won't budge and the roller is completely clean.

I purchased this sweeper for my dad who is in assisted living. It was wonderful and it still is. I decided to purchase the same one for my house. It finally arrived and I let it charge. It just did not work as well as my dad's. I called the company and they said that it was not fully charging and they would send me a replacement battery. I waited and waited. I finally called again and they claim one was sent to me. However I never received it. I was told that another would be sent to me. I am still waiting and wondering. I called the company today and there is a recording on the line saying that I can't call as dialed. I confirmed the telephone number so I know that I am calling the correct number. I am now wondering if I was getting the run around. I now have my dad's at my house as he no longer will need it as he has been placed in nursing care. I use it every day and it is great. But I still have the dead one sitting in the corner. I thought that I would get the replacement battery and give it to my sister in law. It already cost me $40.00 for nothing.
At this point I am happy with the product not with the company. I have purchased other Shark items however this is the first time that I encountered a problem.

I had this sweeper for all of two months before it died. I can't get any response from the company regarding the warranty. It never worked that great to begin with - I'd always have to use the broom after using this sweeper. I'll never buy another Shark product.

I really love my Shark. I use it daily and haven't had any problems with it. I do take it apart about once a month (due to daily pick up of hair and dirt) to clean it. All you have to do is pop off the wheels and the front black roller cover. Then take out all the screws (10) using a standard screwdriver. Once the screws are out, the top comes apart from the bottom, now you can pull the belt off the roller and clean the roller, and all that dirt that is clumped up. You'll notice improved performance as soon as you do this.

This product is wonderful until after about 2 months.
After a few months - mine stopped working. And this was my second - the first stoped working after 3 months. I just got off the phone with customer service and they tell me that for another ~$20 I can get a factory refurbished replacment. In my opinion, Euro-Pro demonstrated to me today that they will not stand behind their product. I will never buy another cordless product of theirs.

I feel delighted whenever I see my Shark V1725 sweeper. It works better than my vacuum cleaner and also a lot quieter. It works best when the floor surface is flat & hard but works also on carpets. It picks hair and dusts efficiently. Don't forget to charge the battery for 1 day before the first use. Take note: the charger is inside the dust container. I almost returned this sweeper because I can't find the charger.

This is the PERFECT sweeper for hardwood floors. It picks up all sorts of stuff, crumbs, kitty litter, cat hair (not perfectly!) dog hair. I want to get a second because I also use this for our outdoor decks. Here in the Pacific Northwest we have special coatings on our decks to prevent slipping (for those infamous rainy days), the problem being the textured coating also creates a lot of "dirt pockets". I just zoom out there with my little Shark and it picks it all up.
The PROS: *light, lightweight. Using the Shark is no chore at all. *you do not have to--actually you should not--leave it on a charger until it runs out of charge --this allows me to store (hide) it anywhere, not only in a place that has a plug *it holds its charge for a good long time between recharging. *it picks up what I really need it to, so the floor appears clean, i.e., dog food ,cereal, kitty litter, crumbs, some cat and dog hair (see cons) *it is versatile going from our hardwood floors, to tile floors and textured decks and pebbled concrete verandah floors as well. *it swivels so well in order to alllow great maneuverability. I really just tool around every area I need to take it, around plants, behind dog bowls, etc. The CONS: * this is not a suction vacuum device. It works by the roller bar rotating crumbs inward so it only works as it goes forward (much like those old carpet sweepers used in restaurants--except this does the work for you by electronically rotating) *because it does not have suction it will not pull up all the fine dust in the house. * as in the cat hair mentioned above, it will sometimes collect a pile and kind of spit it out. I think the silkiness of the cat hair needs suction to properly pull it in the dust tray. *it's not great, not really even good for carpeting, in a fix I can run it over our berber carpet, but the roller bar gets caught on the fiber loops of the berber--I can't comment on how it would work for regular pile carpeting. *like so many other stick vacs, you need to occasionally cut out the hair that gets wrapped around the roller bar and on the shark there is a little rotating corner brush that pulls in dust from the edges, make sure you keep that clean to get the best performance. * I wish I had one of the newer sharks that allow you to empty the dust cup/bin with out having to pick it up and pull it out like on this model. This Shark, along with my Hoover Spin and Sweep (both based on the same concept of street sweeper type action) are my two favorite and invaluable household gadgets. |
