4.0 out of 5 stars better than I expected.
Replacing an old weathered Delonghi, and sticking to a lower budget, was challenging. Pulled it off with this purchase of a Euro-Pro. Purchased at Target for $54.00 at about half of a comparable "higher end" machine. This more than does the job and at this price and free shipping, I would not hesitate.

3.0 out of 5 stars Is this a toaster oven?, January 24, 2005
This review is from: Euro-Pro TO283 Convection Toaster Oven,Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I, too, was looking to replace a Delonghi that caught fire. Toaster ovens have a life-expectancy of 1-2 years in my house-- maybe because I use them for almost everything. But I bought this one in response to the reviews on this page and find myself hoping it has a shorter life than my previous ones.

Maybe I don't know how to maximize the potential of the convection thing. But I've read the directions and have been experimenting, and I can't get this oven to do the things I've relied on all these years-- even simple things like TOAST and BROIL. My bagels come out COOKED, my toast brick-hard, but neither actually browned enough on the outside. It seems to mostly serve to dry things out. And it actually takes longer than my other ovens did, even at the reccommended maximum heat, though I've found that lower heat works slightly better.

I've tried all the settings, even the "grill" that doesn't use convection, on breads and meats (fake meats, I'm veggie). None sear or toast while leaving the insides soft like all my old ovens did.

The one reviewer is right about the broil pan. It's misleading to say it includes a broil pan, then not mention the pan at all in the directions. You're really supposed to use the crumb tray for broiling.

And since the size of this oven is too shallow (door to back) for any deeper pans (for casseroles and such), I'm at a loss on how to use this 1/2 inch deep pan provided except for frozen junk-food snacks. Even then, it's hard to check on the food because the pan fits so tightly in the slot that you have to pull it all the way out to check, letting out all the heat in the process, then try to fit the hot pan perfectly back into the slots if it needs more cooking.

When I use a small pyrex or something, small casseroles come out really well-- but I have to use the big oven for almost everything else. I'm still figuring out how to make this thing worth the space it takes up. In the meantime, I miss my toaster oven.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bargain and Space Saver, August 23, 2004

We recently purchased this as a replacement for the old toaster oven in our very small apartment kitchen. It was a great value and works as well as something that you could pay two to three times its price. Meats come out wonderfully, it is easy to clean, the timer is a great option.

2.0 out of 5 stars not great for toasting, February 17, 2005

Not the toaster for you if you mainly want to toast bread. It takes forever and doesn't really brown it. Holds more toast, but doesn't necessarily toast the second row. Bakes well though....

Oven works Great! Cooks evenly, quickly. I use it all the time, and you can cook things in her that you cannot cook in the toaster oven! I love it!

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY IT!, September 17, 2005

I owned this product for only 3 months and all the heating elements died. The only thing that will work is the fan. I called the office (warranty) to have it replaced and I was going to have to pay to have it shipped to them to have it repaired and/or replaced. I don't think I should be responsible for paying for a product that lasts only 3 months and end up spending just as much money on shipping as I would to replace it! The company is not very helpful in resolving the problem. I will NEVER purchase another Euro-Pro again!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great little oven, comment on previous review, December 30, 2004

First of all, this is a great little toaster oven. Being a convection oven, food cooks faster and more evenly. Nice look outside, stainless steel top and sides, glass and brushed stainless on the door.

Regarding the previous review, the reviewer said the rack and broiling pan cannot be used at the same time. The oven comes with two baking racks and one broiling pan. The broiling pan will fit into either of the slots made for the baking racks. It is true you can't have both racks and the pan in at once, but I don't think anybody would want all three in at once. I tried to put the pan on top of the rack and quickly realized it was made to go in the slots on the side of the oven.

Overall, a great little oven. Great price for a 6-slice toaster/oven and convection, plus is looks better than most others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Totally pleased, March 17, 2005

After going through a LOT of toaster ovens over the years..(they only seem to last about 1 to 2 years)..I opted to try a small convection type. I did not expect this to be comparable to a full-fledged convection oven, but I was extremely pleased with its operation. I use the toaster oven every day for almost everything and I will say it works as well if not better than any I have ever owned.

I was a little leery of the 1200 watt rating, but with the fan, it cooks as well as a 1500 watt oven...maybe better. I have only had this for a short time, but I would definitely recommend this to anyone...even a "first-time" toaster oven buyer. The under $40.00 sale price was another incentive...I definitely got my moneys worth.

1.0 out of 5 stars doesn't toast, July 2, 2005

After remodeling my kitchen, I decided to upgrade from my worn out looking Black and Decker to something stainless. I paid a little more and chose this one, but have been extremely disappointed.

The toast feature takes forever; bread comes out of the toaster oven rock hard and it's not a toasted color at all. Forget all the other bells and whistles this model claims to have. If it doesn't toast, what good is it ?

I have had this unit for 3 months and I would purchase another one. I wanted a toaster oven that would cook breaded chicken fritters like a deep fat frier (brown & crispy). This oven will do that.

1. Ignore the manual!

2. Place the crumb tray under the lower element and leave it there.

3. Use the deep pan as a grease catch in the lower slot. Cover with aluminum foil to ease clean up.

4. Use the grill on the top slot. Convection broil (400F) for the Chicken. Convection bake (400F)for baked hamburgers (great!). Convection broil (400F) for fish. Non-convection Broil for toasting sliced rolls. Convection Bake 1/4 pie Price Chopper Deluxe Supreme Self-Rising Pizza.

5. DO NOT EVEN TRY TO TOAST BREAD, IT BAKES THE TOAST, YUCK! I use a toaster if and when I want toast
