Fair. Good size. good looks. Fancy name. Pro's will want a warming feature adjustable from 110F to about 130F (not available). A pro will want the top element alone to light on broil & rotisserie, the bottom element to light on bake, & both elements to light on toast, but To31 lights both elements on all settings (bake, toast, broil, rotisserie), with top element always 1/2 lit; not good for energy efficiency nor for pro baking, toasting or broiling. Pro will not like to have to unplug unit when not in use, then plug back in for use (see manual). All those buttons & no real OFF switch!!! No warming (110F)!!! A real pro will need one or two more wire racks & baking pans (only one provided; must buy eniter accessory set for $26 to get an additional wire rack & baking pan, no slack). No variation in heating element selection. Definitely named to sell, not to function. Mark Twain once said: "There are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damned lies & marketing." Here's an example of the latter & worst kind of lies.

GREAT OVEN!,
This review is from: Euro-Pro TO31 Digital Convection Toaster Oven (Kitchen)
I love this oven so much, we bought one for the main kitchen upstairs and the downstairs kitchenette. Most people complain about the broiler element not working. This oven functions differently in the broil mode, by directing the fans to heat the food on top instead of an element on top. This makes for a more uniform broil. The oven is also great for cooking vegetables, using th convection bake function. The vegetables come out crisp like they have been grilled. I would recommend this oven. Don't expect it to operate like a cheap toaster. When you are toasting, the last minute of toasting browns the food. Also, reading the manual helps.

Happy,
This review is from: Euro-Pro TO31 Digital Convection Toaster Oven (Kitchen)
I live in Phoenix, AZ and it gets really hot in the summer, about 115 degrees and above kind of hot. Year round I never use a traditional oven and seldom a stove top. A counter oven is a must. I have used them before but this is really a great one. It is huge inside. I can fit a 13" pizza pan it it. I bake medium sized pizzas,(not those cheap little ones.) pies, cookies, anything I want. It bakes quite well. I will be fixing my turkey breast in it for Thanksgiving. One has to learn how to use it just like anything else. I attached it to a power strip and use that to switch it on. There is no reason that it has to be on when I am not using it. The temp goes down to 210 that is low enough, if I wish to warm things up I nuke them that is why I have a microwave. I haven't toasted in it as I have a toaster. For the price with no sales tax or shipping I am happy with it. Looks great on the counter and uses very little space. The best part is I NEVER, EVER have to clean a huge nasty oven. It is definitely a good buy. Oh by the way I am not a doctor which has no bearing on a product review and most of the doctors I know aren't very bright anyway.

not so much...,

I bought this oven about a year ago and loved it for a few months. We mostly use it for baking pizza and muffins and it still works pretty well for that but the broil feature never worked--the top element is apparently broken--I didn't notice at first because the convection feature does still produces good heat and even baking. Can't make toast in it, since the top element is broken. As of a few days ago, the clock feature is now broken, too. I guess that is just as well since you're not supposed to leave the unit plugged in when you're not using it (Huh? so why put a clock feature on at all??) Over all, it seems like a poorly made machine that has been limping along just well enough for our purposes, but I would not recommend it and am currently thinking of upgrading to a new brand.

Euro-Pro TO31 digital conv. oven,

This review is from: Euro-Pro TO31 Digital Convection Toaster Oven (Kitchen)
On 1/11/09 I purchased the Euro-Pro TO31 digital conv. oven. Like other reviewers on several sites that I've since read opinions of this oven on, I too thought it was a really great oven, at first. Cosmetic look was great, lots of space inside, had lots of features. I thought I had it mastered pretty well, it baked & toasted great. On 2/5/09, less than a month later, I needed to use the broiler to brown some ribs, before baking. Broiling in one of these ovens is a useless procedure. The broiling temp. on this oven is suppossed to automatically be at 450. The top (broiling heat element) gets a little hot, but the bottom element gets fire red & instead of broiling, it's like frying from the heat from the bottom unit. No broiling from this oven! Also, please save yourself the dissaterous experience of calling their customer service tollfree ph # on front of manual to ask a question, & actually get some customer service. If anyone can ruin your day their cust. serv. reps. will be the ones to do it for ya. My rep. was from India, couldn't speak or understand English very well, & I got the total runaround & no help. If you have a problem, don't call them, not only did they want me pay to send this unit back to them for repairs & not replacement, they tried to sell me other items during my complaint phone call. Need I say more about this outfit ? I took it back to the store I purchased it from & got my money refunded.

I almost never use my full size oven. A nearly non-existant preheat time shaves about 10 to 15 minutes off cookiing time and saves energy. It also uses lower temperature settings or less time(sometimes both)when using it in convection mode.It can cook a full-size, non-altered, non-steroid chicken, a 12" pizza, or a portion of something too big. I use it to cook multiple link and pattie sausages and biscuits by lining the rack with foil. The foil is kept flat under the biscuits, but made to droop under the meat to reduce grease consumption. Raise the edges of the foil to contain the grease. I wish there was a chart to recommend temperature and time settings for convection mode. However, I'm getting familiar with what settings to use with experience.

Worked great for a year,
This review is from: Euro-Pro TO31 Digital Convection Toaster Oven (Kitchen)
It worked great for a year. Now it's falling apart. The door hinges came apart, the top heating element stopped working. I picked it up to move it and one of the legs fell off. It's a shame. It was good while it lasted. This one's going in the dumpster. I guess it would be okay for temporary use like in a dorm room or something. But it isn't very durable.

Good for Pizza Only,

I purchased mine to replace a toaster and a old toaster oven. This unit does an excellent job at cooking or reheating pizza. It does not "Toast" very well. The bread comes out hard throughout but the outer surfaces never "brown" as it will in a normal toaster. I would not purchase this unit again and I do not recommmend it.

lame,
This review is from: Euro-Pro TO31 Digital Convection Toaster Oven (Kitchen)
This oven is ridiculous. Unfortunately by the time you realize what it won't do it is too late to return it. It works fine and is decent quality but for what ever bizarre reason it has no broil function. Sure it says broil but the BOTTOM element comes on strong and the top element weak. It's just stupid and frustrating. If I want to broil like cheese toast I have to use our ancient Kenmore toaster oven we keep on the back porch while our high dollar "Euro Pro" oven sits there incapable of a simple broiling. Stupid.

Somehow I missed most of the poor reviews of this toaster oven before I purchased it -- until today. We bought this oven two months ago and have used it daily since. We have the model with touch pad controls. They are easy to read and clean. The oven functions well for toasting, browning in just the last minute or so. Having to go and turn off the end-of-cycle signal for all functions is a bit of a pain. We have had some very nice baked potatoes in about 50 minutes on convection bake, and scalloped potatoes, nicely brown on top, in 45 minutes. I also baked sweet potato French fries that came out crisp on the outside and moist inside, and frozen rolls that were nicely browned. -- I started to rotisserie a 4.5 lb. chicken. Getting the bird onto the spit and positioned correctly took a bit of experimenting, but should become easier with experience -- experience that I decided to forego. Within the first 15 minutes or so, the oven began to smoke enough for me to decide that I didn't want it to get any hotter -- across the kitchen from the exhaust fan. I roasted the chicken in my large oven, since I didn't want any spatters to burn into the surfaces of my shiny almost-new oven. I did have to clean all six inside surfaces with soap, even after such a short time of use and it's like new again. -- We are quite happy with this toaster oven overall and would recommend it -- if the rotisserie is not an issue. |
