This review is from: Euro-Pro UV610SH Shark Cordless Sweeper (Kitchen)
Forget the negative reviews if you have hardwood floors...this thing works great! My entire house is hardwood floors and I've tried several upright vacuums, and they ALL shoot stuff out of the back. The Shark never shoots anything out...and 99.9% of the time it picks everything up: from rice, coffee, dust-bunnies, crumbs, coins, potato chips...anything that other expensive vacuums I've tried can't. It's convenient to use, lightweight, it stays charged (which btw, when calibrating the battery, they suggest you charge/drain the battery twice. I've drained it once so far, and it ran for over 45 minutes). The swivel handle is great, and maneuvers like a steering wheel.
I even use this thing on the back porch to pick up leaves, berries, and stuff I don't feel like getting out the broom & dustpan for.
I don't think this machine is designed for heavy duty work, or not sure how it would perform on deep-pile carpet, but for my hardwood situation it's perfect!
Also, the little wheel for baseboards really works! It throws stuff right in front of the beeterbar to be consumed.

It's a sweeper not a vacuum!!!!!!, August 19, 2003
This review is from: Euro-Pro UV610SH Shark Cordless Sweeper (Kitchen)
I like this product, I was very sceptacle at first with the classic Info-mertial, but this sweeper can do its job everytime. After living in Europe for a while, one of the biggest selling household items were "electric" brooms, or Sweepers. So I can appretiate a sweeper like this, actually just like the info-mertioal. PLEASE DO NOT buy this to replace your carpet vacuum or you will end up just like the other people here with neg. feedback. If you have tile or hardwood floors this is definately for you, I'm sure It's even great for short "office type" carpet.

Hey guys/gals after reading all the reviews and having this product for a while and extensively testing, here is what ya need to do to get the most out of your shark cordless SWEEPER. At least until the next generation appears: First, this thing has Ni-CAD batteries which are horrible with their MEMORY effect. The manual says let it "FULLY DISCHARGE" once a month before recharging. WRONG you must let it run down nearly each time if you wish to maintain your 45-60 minute runtime for future months (which I have achieved) and maximize battery life. Additionaly DO THIS: let it fully discharge (power on) and then shut it off (power off button). Let it sit for an hour or so and then put it on. You will see that shark will then run again for a few more minutes this is that darn MEMORY effect inherent in NI-CAD batteries. Repeat this and you will have finally fully discharged the battery readying it for a robust 16hr charge enabling a powerful 45-60 minute runtime consistently. What YOU SHOULD NOT DO is recharge it after small or minor usages say after 10-15 minutes. This will wreck the battery. ALSO DON'T exceed 20 hrs as manual states. ACTUALLY avoid 20 hr. charges for they will diminish battery life! TO avoid this use a christmas lite TIMER and set it for 16 hours and plug charger into it! This SWEEPER's design is great but its QUALITY is horrible. The plastic gears are rediculously terrible and not durable and as noted in other reviews they will slowly strip in time and even quicker if you catch something larger like a scatter rug edge or even a small kids sock which I did. Another problem is YUP the rubber strip on the bottom does fall off BOO HOO and without it increases the cleanup time and lengthens your backwards stroke on missed debri. After all this I still like the power and design of this little unit compared to the current competition and would gladly buy a future model if they would just switch to NICKEL METAL HYDRIDE batteries (fantastic) and put some METAL GEARS on motor and drive tips (ya I know don't hold my breath). I would gladly pay 10-20 dollars more if they would do the latter but until then this will be my last SHARK in its current species!
