I've been buying these socks for my diabetic husband for several years now, and they are the most nearly satisfactory socks we have been able to find. They are stretchy enough not to cause marks or indentations on his legs, and still they stay up quite well. My husband hates long socks (it's a genuine chore getting him dressed for a formal occasion), and these are short--even a tad shorter than most crew socks--and he loves them.

Four stars and not five for two reasons:

    1. They shrink. They're still non-binding and stretchy, but I have begun buying the king-size ones, even though he wears only a shoe size 10. After a wash, they're still a good length and not too long in the foot (yes, I do put them in the dryer; maybe if they were line-dried it wouldn't be a problem, but I don't know).

    2. The white ones don't stay very white. After a few washings, no matter in what, they gain a slight yellowish cast that doesn't go away (doesn't seem to get much worse, either, though). The label says no bleach, and, since they contain lycra, that's probably a good idea.

It's not a problem with any color but white; the king-size black or brown ones are the perfect casual work socks. Look around, and maybe you can find them a bit cheaper than these.
