This program is an excellent way to learn and pronounce key words and phrases for beginners. Once I began to use this (but you've got to immerse yourself in it and play/watch it over and over again) Russian words would just 'pop' in my head at random times -- even in my sleep! However, you will need a good Russian course book, such as the Penguin "Russian - A Complete Course For Beginners", to go along with this program, as it is not totally inclusive (i.e. it doesn't really teach you the alphabet). It's fun, and the "people" teaching you the words are not annoying -- you come to like them, actually! By far the best software program to learn the language, and I've tried many. Well worth the price.

I bought it for my 9 year old son and 7 y.o. daughter. My native language is Russian and it is not that simple to teach Russian
( or any other language) living in English speaking ( or other language) environment.
IPod ready feature is very useful: in just 2 minutes we downloaded 250 most common words and phrases.
On the IPod screen you will see words in English, but hear the word twice (female & male voices) in only Russian.
I believe, it is the best way to learn new vocabulary words.
Interactive CD-ROM is fun and educational: Numbers, colors, parts of the body, food, names of the countries, shopping,
telling time (is tricky to learn), first words and phrases.
$19.99 is very well spent!

This is not Rosetta Stone, but it's a great package for the price. I bought this for my daughter as a supplement for her Russian class. Rather than use it on her computer, she loads the lessons on her iPod (Nice feature) and listens to the lessons going to and from school or while doing her chores at home. improved as a result of this package.

This software is a good supplement for a class or a book, but not you She says the lessons are basic but very helpful and her Russian grades havewould not learn a lot of Russian with this alone. It is very good for learning the basics though and it's a great deal!

This is a good program to learn just the simple words, like colors, countries etc.I really enjoy it.

Just start using it. Received it a little later than thought. Using it for homeschooling a 12 year old. The man and woman used for pronouncing are sometimes not similar, so not always sure which person to follow. Very easy to use on his own. Picks it up much better than his parents!!!!
