listening to this CD, I am transported from my living room or car, to some small town in Sicily, walking down cobblestone streets. It evokes emotions from all extremes and takes you on a different journey from one track to the next. Where did this artist come from. He is amazing.

John Gentry Tennyson is my half-brother, and just the most talented jazz pianist to hit the US in a decade. He takes his music directly to heart, and expresses his feelings and emotions thru every note. Sometimes I feel and think he is too serious, but his complexity and depth to his music gives credence to his love for his music.I wish him well, love him very much as my brother, and hope everyone will look forward to an upcoming 3rd CD from him soon. Since he travels all over the US and Europe, it's very rare that we get to meet up in the same city, but he will always be my little brother, and the sweetest guy in the World.

When some people travel they take snapshots and write postcards. Eighty years ago George Gershwin was inspired to transcribe his impressions of Europe into a composition called "An American in Paris." Today we have John Gentry Tennyson, a composer and pianist from deep in the heart of Texas, presenting us with "Europa."
This is a lovely recording that seems to marry jazz and romantic classical music - with a touch of Latin flavor. There is a milonga with bandoneon that could be the ghostly echo of Piazzolla's years in Paris. Unless you're a world class interpretive jazz / ballet choreographer I can't see dancing to this music. This is the sort of music that would accompany an elegant dinner party or an intellectual discussion over a glass of wine. "Europa" is a perfect aid for meditative or creative pursuits. This is music with staying power. Highly recommended.

When listening to this CD,I've actually gotten up and danced around my living room. But don't tell anyone. I've bought tapes for all my family and closest friends.
