I bought this as a casual plinker and after tinkering with the rear sight for sometime I finally able to lower the elevation on the rear sight to make it so it will hit the 5.5"x5.5" pellet trap at 25'. It still shoots high (about 1".) The body and handle is nonslip composite. The pistol has a good feel to it and being a break barrel pistol, the long barrel helps. I consinder the cocking effort to be light. I was very dissappointed, considering EAA other pistol is of competition grade. mgso

Although I'm an unabashed Liberal, I enjoy shooting...both powder and air. Air is cheaper, of course, so I enjoy it more often than the "big bang" stuff.

I bought my IZH-53M from Pyramid Air many years ago. It has reliably stood the test of time and continues to be my favorite outdoor weapon (I pop off about 30 rounds of AirSoft inside each night to relax before bed) when I want a quick "shooting fix"...mainly because at <500 fps I can simply walk out the door and plink without drawing undue attention to myself or endangering the neighbors. Don't try that with a .44 Magnum (laugh).

Why five stars? Frankly, I don't think you can buy more fun-per-dollar anywhere in the shooting kingdom (with the possible exception of a <$100 Mosin-Nagant...which is a distinctly different animal and a tale for another telling (please refer to Woody Guthrie, " Miss Pavlichenko")). The 53M is amazingly inexpensive, cockroach tough, and shoots consistently IF AND ONLY IF you adjust your sighting so the bulls-eye appears to sit directly on top of the front sight post. If you position the weapon so the sight post is centered in the bulls-eye, the gun will "shoot high". This is not a defect, it's just the way the weapon is designed.

I ordered a IZH-53M but ended up getting a MP-53M,and it is OK but the grip is different and isnot very cumfertable. However the gun shoots as I expeced. No problem sighting and had a ball plinking in the yard today. Put around a hundred rounds out at 10 yards and as an old shooter (65++)I am having fun!!!!with 6" targets and old trssh beer cans. Buy one and have fun too.
