Book Description

July 24, 2007
European Film Noir is the first book to bring together specialist discussions of film noir in specific European national cinemas. Written by leading scholars, this groundbreaking study provides an authoritative understanding of an important aspect of European cinema and of film noir itself, for too long considered as a solely American form.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Effort, May 28, 2008

This review is from: European Film Noir (Paperback)
A very interesting view about European film noir. The effort is remarkable when the book focus on French Cinema or British noir, but it fails when introduce to Spanish and Italian Film noir.

It's amazing that nowadays, in the internet era, the specialist of this book hasn't explored the noir phenomenon in Italy and Spain in a rigorous way. They forgot dozens of noir titles... Anyway a must read, useful as an introduction book to the film genre.
