This book was invaluable for my AP Euro test this past year! The test was on a Friday, and I got this on the Tuesday of test week! While I admit, I did not read all of the book, and I did not use everything they suggested in the way of essay strategies, it was definitely an excellent way to recap everything of importance that I had learned throughout the year.
To be fair, I did also use the Princeton Review book (which was required by my teacher) and I read most of that and took one of their practice tests. However, the majority of that book is just a bunch of "hints" on how to answer multiple choice questions and essay questions, which was uselessly redundant for anyone who's taken a final or a standardized test. It was also very big and annoying to carry around.
The Crash Course is small, concise, and perfect for the student who doesn't want to start studying in October for one little test. Other people in my year started studying six WEEKS in advance and got 3s and 4s. I started studying six DAYS before and I got a FIVE!!
THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!!

This book is definitely the best review book I've used for any of the eleven AP exams I've taken. It does a great job of presenting the key details of European History in a very clear and concise matter and it avoids the all too common mistake of turning a review book into a second textbook.

Everything in this book is outlined instead of thrown into paragraphs, which makes reading and comprehension a lot faster. Furthermore, the book leaves out non-essential details of European History. When dates or events aren't necessary, they aren't provided. The book is based on a close study of all released multiple choice questions from the AP exam so that it can cover each topic with the right amount of depth. This means that the book can be in large print on small pages and still be thinner than any other AP prep book I've seen, all without losing its usefulness.

Another key benefit of this book is that the content is really readable. It doesn't contain jokes or anything like that, but the prose is very conversational and easy to read. With most books I find myself reading some sentences multiple times to really understand them, but I never had to do that with this book. I was able to quickly read each page and understand the material on the first try.

This book also does a great job presenting relevant resources beyond a play-by-play account of the history. It includes little tips that explain which aspects of an event to study or warn that a particular event shows up on the exam more than others. In addition, it provides a really helpful list of key terms and several important comparisons of figures and eras that commonly appear on the exam.

Edit, 5/6/11:

I just completed the 2011 AP European History test this afternoon.

Let me just put it this way: either the test was based directly off this book, or this book was based directly off the test. I can't tell.

Either way, I don't think I missed more than 2 questions on the exam. 2. That's it. Just 2. You can't go wrong with this book.

Edit, 7/14/11:

Got my AP scores in the mail today. Guess what I got. I got a 5 ;). No surprise there. Thank you again CRASH COURSE!!!

I bought this halfway through the school year in order to help me with AP Euro since I missed a few weeks of school due to mono. It's very helpful, highlighting the main points of each time in history, so an example is that if you want to know more details about the Dreyfus affair, you need to look at your textbook or notes since the book merely mentions the Dreyfus affair but doesn't tell you enough information to write an essay or anything. Therefore, if you need help with an essay or studying for the AP Exam, I'd STRONGLY recommend looking over your notes as well as using this book, since if you get an essay question, you are going to need more details. Not to say that this book wasn't helpful, since it was very useful and I'd recommend it to my friends who are taking AP Euro next year.

This was my primary review material for the AP Exam this past May of 2013, and yet again, I'm going to stress that it mostly covers the major ideas and events, so I simply coupled the book with my notes in order to relearn the minor details of events so then I would be more apt to write a good essay. I wish I had bought it sooner in the year so it could have helped me with more than just the AP Exam! ^^'

I ended up scoring a 5 on the AP exam ^^' My mom is super happy, though my boyfriend who didn't realize he actually needed to study wasn't quite so happy. But I like the book enough that I'm buying 2 more to accompany my AP Bio and AP English classes this coming year.

I highly recommend this book to anyone taking AP European History. This book got me a 5 on the exam!!!!!!

All I did to study was read this book (I read it pretty carefully, though, periodically "testing" myself by running through important wars and people in my head) and I got a 5. I did use another book, Modern European History by Birdsall Viault, to quickly understand my weakest points, but since the Crash Course is so concise and informative, I rarely used my other book.

Compared to other prep books like Barrons and Princeton Review, this book is so cheap and SO MUCH MORE WORTH IT! It tells you everything you need to know in a short, clear way and helps you analyze trends in history (good for your FRQs).

GET IT, YOU WILL GET A 4 OR A 5! :]
