This three-volume series contains a selection of presentations from the First European Congress of Psychology held in Amsterdam in July, 1989. Attended by almost 2000 psychologists, the majority from East and West Europe, the conference explored the diversity of recent European contributions to the field, and a judicious selection of papers appears in this collection. Organized by category, the papers deal with theoretical psychology, psychometrics, personality, developmental and educational psychology, cognitive psychology, gerontology, clinical and health psychology, stress and anxiety, neuropsychology, psychophysiology, work and organizational psychology, social and economic issues, and cross-cultural psychology. The work provides a penetrating survey of European psychology, its past and ongoing achievements, and offers an informed look at developments to be expected in the coming decade.
