As a jewelry student, I do not have the money to drop on an expensive sawframe quite yet, so I have had to settle with purchasing a new lower-quality one every two years or so. This one was what I expected for the $15-20 range. It is fairly decent quality, but it probable won't stand up to more than a couple of years of sawing.

I like the four-inch frame because it offers a lot of stability. Since I don't work on that large of pieces, the depth is hardly ever a problem. If you like to work larger, or think you might start, then this is definitely not your frame. For a beginning student just starting to buy tools, this is an excellent choice. Not too expensive, sturdy, and adjustable to fit broken sawblades.

I do find the wing nuts to be a little finicky. They are an odd shape, which makes them hard to tighten fully with just your fingers. If you just hand-tighten, the vibrations from sawing are enough to loosen it to the point where the blade can slip out. I use my flatnose pliers to tighten these past where I can with just my hand, and that works reasonably well- I just shouldn't have to do that.

The sawblades that came with this frame are terrible. They are not labelled. From reading the item description again, I found that they were meant to be #2 and #2/0. They came packaged in the same tube, not in two separate ones as in the picture. The steel is extremely brittle. After breaking three blades trying to make my first cut into a piece of annealed copper, I threw them all out. The sawframe would be just as satisfying sold alone versus throwing in some shoddy sawblades to make it seem like a "better deal."

Summary: If you don't have much money to drop on a frame and work small, good choice. If you have more money to drop and work larger, keep looking.

This saw is good quality, everything is "true" in terms of alignment, and glides easily. I've only used it once so far, but I can just tell, the saw is made of quality metal. The saw blades were odd; a gross of them, as in 144 blades, not 24, but not assorted; they were all the same blade, so insanely narrow, I've never even used a blade like that. But I considered the blades a bonus; the saw alone was well worth the price!

This saw arrived in two days even though I chose the cheapest shipping.

I am very pleased with this saw and the additional 24 saw blades are a plus. I'm able to saw through jump rings up to 10 gauge smoothly without having to file the ends. That's a time saver. I would recommend this saw to others.

This Jeweler's Saw is a great little tool for sawing out inlays with the 4" throat depth.
The bean style fasteners work very well. The blades were a bonus.
Not made in Germany but still up to the quality as my 35 year old German saw frames
that have long since bit the dust.

Saw blades are not as sturdy as I had hoped they would be.
But they are verry sharp and I have used it successfully on multiple jewelry pieces made of sterling silver.

I do recommend it for anyone looking for a basic hobbyist saw.

I am very disappointed! The thumbscrews are rusty and do not tighten well. I thought I was purchasing a new saw, instead it looks like I paid for something out of a yard sale. I have not even opened the blades, so who knows what I will find.
I am going to try to return this disaster and would not recommend purchasing this item. I did not want to even give this product one star, but had to in order to submit this review.
