Product Description

A simple solution for those who suffer from certain metal allergies. Jewelry Shield is a paint-on resin product that creates a barrier between skin and metal. It will even work on pierced earrings! To apply, shake bottle gently, then apply one coat to all metal parts of jewelry that will touch skin. Allow product to dry at least 20 minutes between coats. For best results, coat heavily and allow jewelry to dry overnight. Instructions and a small diagram are included on package. Product can be removed from jewelry with nail polish remover. PLEASE NOTE: This product is extremely flammable and harmful or fatal if swallowed. Use only in well ventilated area. Once dry, it is not hazardous to skin. Ingredients: Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Xylene, Resins. Quantity: 1/2 oz bottle, includes built-in brush.

I used coats and coats and more coats.

It may still work well, but you should be aware of what you're getting in case you were trying to avoid nail polish like I was.

Had to purchase this because my skin is sensitive to most metals resulting in blisters wherever the metal is touching.

Fast shipping and professional transaction with the seller. Not sure I will use the product though- I had read some tips previously about methods used to protect ears from metal allergies, and one suggestion was to coat them in clear nail polish- I didnt like this idea because of the harsh chemicals (I have sensitive skin)- which I why I sought out this product. However, it appears this is just clear nail polish under the guise of another name. It looks the same, smells the same, and has the same ingredients. It may still work well, but you should be aware of what you're getting in case you were trying to avoid nail polish like I was.

Great product. Had to purchase this because my skin is sensitive to most metals resulting in blisters wherever the metal is touching. I mostly use this on my wedding band, makes a nice little coating on the inside and/or outside of the ring so the metal isn't directly touching the skin. Have to put it on the ring about once a week, lasts a little longer if I remember to take my rings off when I wash my hands, haven't tried it on earrings yet though I'm pretty sure it'll be the same general results. Would recommend this to anyone with a sensitivity to metal jewelry.

After developing a nasty (and confirmed by a doctor) allergy to the yellow gold my engagement ring was made out of, my jeweler suggested getting a "clear coat" product, so I purchased this after seeing a few favorable reviews.

I allowed the rash to clear up entirely, and I applied 2-3 coats of Jewelry Shield, allowing each one to dry overnight, and started wearing my ring again. I made a point not to bathe of sleep with the ring, and I would re-coat the ring with Jewelry shield every few days.

Within 2 weeks, the rash was back. It delayed the time it would normally take for it to develop, but it was back.

I have now resolved the problem by getting the ring re-plated with a metal I'm not allergic to (sterling silver) and this have solved the problem.

I would only recommend taking the clear coat method if you're using it for jewelry you only occasionally wear.

This works really well in blocking skin contact with the nickel in the less expensive jewelry. Needs to be sold in larger bottles.

We have been using this jewelry shield for quite a while and haven't had any complaints. I had ordered two, and when they arrived one was broken. So we let Beadaholique know, and they sent a replacement promptly and free of charge! I was very glad of the customer service that was offered, it was fast and efficient. :)

I'm not sure how it works compared to similar products, but it worked pretty well for my husband. It turns out my husband is allergic to every type of metal so far, including his wedding band (tungsten). We didn't want to have to get rid of the ring, so I did some research & came across this product. He would get a rash from the ring. He's been wearing the ring for a few days now with Jewelry Shield applied to it & it seems to be working. I had to apply 8 coats though. The description says it may take multiple coats, boy they weren't kidding. I applied 4 coats & waited 1/2 an hr between each coat & waited a few hours before my husband tried it. After work he ended up getting a rash with it still. The next day I applied 4 more coats, a coat every 1/2 hour, & let it sit overnight this time. It's working like a charm so far.

This product actually works. My daughter has very sensitive ears and often her ears lobes become red, itchy, and irritated when I make her earrings made out of copper for example. I made her some copper earrings and then coated them with Jewelry Shield where they would come in contact with her ears and I've heard no complaints. The metal doesn't irritate her skin. I will suggest this product to everyone who I make copper jewelry for or coat the jewelry with this product for them myself. I don't know if it wears off or if the jewelry needs to be recoated after a while yet though. Still I would recommend Jewelry Shield for all jewelers working with non semi-precious metals for their customers.
