Installation was no problem once I got the case open. I had to carefully crack it with an eyeglass screwdriver, since the included prying tools are flimsy. 2 are included, but 2 mediocre tools aren't equal to 1 good one. After I got a wide enough crack, the tools safely pried the case apart. Even with the eyeglass screwdriver, there's no damage to the exterior.

The torx screwdriver worked well. The instructions are good, and it took about 1/2 hour to complete the installation. After doing it once, I think that I could change another battery in 10 minutes.

I'm getting about 15 hours of playing time with the new battery (50% more than the original), and the price was right.

I was ready to send my wife's iPod off to an online service to replace the battery for 50 bucks. However, I saw this battery kit and thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did, becauseit was incredibly simple. I cannot believe people pay $50 to $100 to have it done for them. The only difficulty I encountered was 1) i tried to push the spreader straight in from the side -- since the metal closes over the plastic, you have to push downward to pry the case apart (Assuming it is being held LCD up) and 2) I had to actually use needle nose pliers to pull the power wire out of the socket. Bottom line, give it a shot.

Just installed the battery on my 4G ipod. I haven't tested the battery life yet.

Excellent instructions + two hard plastic tools to help open the ipod case without damage. Also, the bonus torx screw driver was really helpful to unscrew two of the screws of the board to free up the battery cable.

I was pretty cautious and it took me about 30mn to perform the operation.

Before closing the case completely, test that your ipod is still functioning and that the battery is charging by plugging it into the charger.

Pending battery life tests, I highly recommend this product

I strongly suggest to also look at some of video instructions online which are more complete than the instructions included with this product. Cracking the case was the hardest part of installation. The tools were suitable for the job, and I'm glad I saved them for when I order a different battery this time.

It had what should have been an idyllic life for any battery. It was not kept in a hot car, not dropped or tossed around, used in a charging stereo dock at work about 75% of the time... so I expected a much longer life than only 4 months.

Suggestion: While you have the thing open, stick an address label or something similar on the inside of the back case, just in case you ever will need to ID your ipod.

The instructions and case tool could be a little better, but once I went online to get some tips on opening the ipod case it went smoothly. Battery has been working well since. Battery life seems to be at least equal to the original.

The toolkit was not the best. The cheap plastic tools were not strong enough to pry the case for my ipod open. However, once I pried open enough of a space with a screwdriver to slip the included tool into the gap, it did a great job of continuing to separate the pieces safely.

The battery itself is incredible. It's the same physical size as the original ipod battery, but has a much higher capacity. It lasts much longer than the original battery when it was new, and lasts almost 3 times as long as the original battery did when its voltage dropped and almost bricked my ipod. (it had the sad ipod face, which is the most ridiculous error "code" ever)

Delivery was quick, the product was excellent, definitely would buy from them again. One last word of advice, ignore the included directions, and go to YouTube for an instructional video on battery replacement.

What more could you want from this? It's inexpensive, fits great, works great, and comes with all the tools you need. Resurrected my 4G 40gig iPod without issue. Instructions that came with it were adequate.

When, I originally received my order, it was missing the Torx screwdriver (which was the reason I specifically chose this product over others available). After I alerted the seller, the next day the screwdriver came in the mail along with a whole new battery and tool set. Very impressive!

Pros: battery lasts x3 longer than the failing factory one. The tools included make for a smooth installation. Great customer relations.

Cons: shipping was expensive, battery size a little wide and may require some finagling.

All in all a good transaction - make sure to Google/Youtube repair instructions - as others have noted the ones included can be a bit vague if this is the first time looking at the inside of your iPod.

This battery worked perfect with my 4th gen 20GB ipod. It wasn't that hard to install once you get the case open. The tools they included to open the case were a little flimsy though. I used a little pocket screwdriver in conjunction with the included tools to pry my ipod open.

The instructions had two flaws (or at least points that weren't clear). First, the metal backing should be pulled out (in the same plane as the iPod). Do not try to split the metal back from the plastic front. Second, there is no need to pull off the small ribbon cable -- a bit of a pain to put back on. In short, search YouTube for instructions. But the end result...the iPod is as good as new.
