Review

This is the best translation available of a lively and challenging dialogue, which sets before the reader profound questions about the use and misuse of reason. --Myles Burnyeat, University of Cambridge

The book itself is nice, it has helpful notes that are not intrusive, and I think the translation is clear.

I cannot say whether it is completely accurate to the Ancient Greek, because I only took a couple courses in Ancient Greek and Latin, but it is definitely a readable translation.

I really find Plato interesting (I have read Gorgias, Phaedrus, The Symposium, The Republic, Last Days of Socrates), but I did not really enjoy this work. I think Plato demonstrated the absurdity of sophistry and tricks of language better in the other works that I have read.

Unless you have a desire to read all of Plato's works, or if you think this dialogue is relevant to issues in education that you are researching, I would not recommend reading this book.

people who sent it were great - good service. The book is super boring and not interesting. Unless you have to, I wouldn't waste your time reading it.
