About the Author

Sherezada Luisa Chiqui Vicioso is an essential poet, playwright and essayist of the Dominican Republic. Her master s in education and post-graduate studies in cultural administration were obtained, respectively, from Columbia University and Fundacao Getulio Vargas, Brazil. Vicioso has worked for various agencies of the UN as a consultant. She is currently Ambassador for Women, Children and Adolescent issues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of her country. Chiqui Vicioso has authored 19 books, including the seminal poetic biographies of the writers Julia de Burgos of Puerto Rico, and Salome Urena and Aida Cartagena Portalatin of the Dominican Republic; and a biography of a Bolivian female urban guerrilla. Awards and honors include the Anacaona de Oro (literature) and the Premio Casandra for the play Salome U: cartas a una ausencia. Sherezada Luisa Vicioso (Chiqui), nacio en Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana, y tiene una maestria en educacion de la Universidad de Columbia, y estudios de pos-graduado de la Fundacion Getulio Vargas, Brazil. Vicioso ha trabajado para varias agencias de las Naciones Unidas como asesora y evaluadora de programas con la mujer. Entre 1981 y 2005, Chiqui Vicioso ha escrito unos 19 libros, incluyendo cinco poemarios, y dos libros de ensayos sobre literatura femenina, literatura y educacion, entre los cuales se distingue el libro Algo que decir, ensayos sobre Literatura Femenina, cuya primera edicion data del 1992. Tambien ha escrito una biografia poetica de Julia de Burgos, la poeta nacional de Puerto Rico; Salome Urena de Henriquez y Aida Cartagena Portalatin, dos voces esenciales de la Republica Dominicana, asi como la biografia de una guerrillera boliviana. Entre los premios que ha recibido estan el Anacaona de Oro en Literatura y el Premio Casandra por la obra Salome U: cartas a una ausencia. Eva/Sion/Es es el primer libro de esta importante autora caribena que se publica simultaneamente en tres idiomas.
