It's amazing to me that no one yet has written a review of this CD here, so I'll chime in. To give some context, I'm not a real "country music" fan. I came to what "country" I do listen to through the "country rock" of the '60s and '70s (Gram Parsons, Burritos, Byrds, etc). In recent years, I've been more interested in the so-called "singer-songwriter" stuff, but still listen to lots of older folk music. Among the CD's most often in my changer are those of Robert Earl Keen, John Gorka, Richard Shindell, John Hiatt, Iris Dement, Guy Clark, Gillian Welch, Peter, Paul & Mary... and others. I first heard Katy Moffat on the radio somewhere a couple of years ago, and stopped dead in my tracks. What a voice! And what a songwriter (often with partner Tom Russell)! You don't need to be a country music fan to love this music. It's wonderfully accessible -- play it with friends over who have never heard of any of the above-mentioned artists, and after a few minutes they'll ask, "Who *is* that?" The very first track ("Step Up, Buy a Ticket") will have you entranced. The title track is absolutely beautiful. Please, do yourself a big favor, and get this album. You will not regret it.

I have this same CD released as "The Greatest Show on Earth". Have just been listening to it for the first time in a while. And I'm pretty much in tune with the previous reviewer, though I think "Billy Collins" may be my favourite track.

And am I imagining it, or did I once see another Katy Moffatt CD that had a reference to Waiheke Island in the production credits?
