David Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981), minister of Westminster Chapel in London for thirty years, was one of the foremost preachers of his day. His books include Spiritual Depression, Joy Unspeakable, The Cross, The Heart of the Gospel, and his series on John 17.

As you sit at the feet of great men learning how to better serve God's people, always remember that what you learn you don't own; you are merely borrowing it for a time to use for the advancement and uplifting of the Kingdom of Heaven. You can learn the how to's from lloyd'Jones, but the application has to come from the sweat and perserverance of your own brow as you till the fields, ripe for harvest. Be thankful you found this book. Learn from it.

I've benefited greatly from the sermons in this book, reading them devotionally for personal nourishment and exhortation. Lloyd-Jones is immensely helpful in the way he dissects the Scriptures and applies biblical truth to the human heart. I highly recommend this book and any other collections of his sermons, especially his Studies in the Sermon on the Mount.
