The G2 series is an excellent comprise between Evans' single ply G1 heads and the Hydraulic line which employs a layer of oil to further dampen a 2 ply head.When properly tuned, these heads have great attack, a focused tone, and nice sustain. I use them on all of my toms, which are 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 inches respectively and I don't need any tape, rings, gels, or any other dampening devices. These heads are perfect as long as you take the time to tune them to a pitch that properly matches the drum they're on and make sure that both heads on the drum match in pitch. I am a longtime semi-professional drummer, and I've tried most every drum head out there. Evans is, in my opinion, the only company you need to bother with. While the others rest on products that haven't changed in decades. Evans continues to develop new ways to make drums sound amazing. |
