Intriguing Sci-Fi Story Captures Your Mind To The Last Word,
By A Customer
This review is from: Evan's Voice (Paperback)
In Evan's Voice, you meet Jake, a teen without a mother, Evan, Jake's plague stricken younger brother, Mrs. Garvey, a neighbor and docter, Jacob Adam, a mysterious storyteller with a different kind of story, and Mellie, Jake's best friend whose father wants her to marry a 'gizmo' for money. They all live in a plague-decimated Earth in the 21st century. Aside from the everyday problems of a street teen, Jake has to take care of Evan as he gets steadily sicker, and defend Mellie from her father. When he finds the storyteller for a school project, he suddenly sees a glimmer of hope that could make Evan better. This story keeps you enthralled to the last, making you yearn for more at the end of the story.

praise from an adult,
By M. A. Harper (New Orleans, LA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Evan's Voice (Paperback)
Ms. Lowenstein creates a world both odd and familiar, peopled with young characters we wish we knew; yet her work speaks to a larger, older readership as well---having fully as much crossover appeal as the "Harry Potter" books. With an economy of style, beautifully rendered illustrations, and a peculiar ability to imagine so far outside the usual sci-fi box that she almost seems to be from a distant planet herself, her "Evan" is a book that has no parallel anywhere. Lowenstein's work is stunningly original, beautiful, wonderfully wise and strange. I look forward to her next novel with great anticipation.

Evan's Voice is about how Jake's mom leaves Jake and evan alone as she goes off and doesn't come back. Then Mellie and Jake go through obstacles to find an interview. This interview is with J Adam, a man on DV, and they searched and searched and couldn't find his house. While they did that it went off the air and Evan was becoming sick. they went into the Dead Zone and found a castle and in there was J Adam. J Adam then told them the story that was on DV. This book should surprise you a lot. IT is a great science fiction book for kids. Evan is cured but how? Read this book and find out.
