This disc, which is outta print, so get it while you can if you're a Dead Boys fan, is essential for said fan.

If you have no Dead Boys, get Younger, Louder, and Snottyer first, then Night of The Living Dead Boys. You'll also need We Have Come For Your Children (a fine album despite group protestations), and the first released version of their debut, Young, Loud and Snotty, which while it doesn't have the same intensity as the "Snottyer" disc, is from the masters...

Now back to this.
Frankenstein was the Dead Boys, in all but name and hairstyle/fashion.
(It credits Jeff Magnum on bass, but he joined after they made their first album, which had engineer Bob Clearmountain playing bass).
But then, Jeff wrote the liner notes, so...

This version of the classic Sonic Reducer ain't as fast as the one we all know and love, but so what. It's still great, and is the second version recorded of this -- Rocket From the Tombs did it first, with Cheetah singing; but this is the first, er, well not an official studio --first non-live recording! This disc is pretty historical just for this song alone.

High Tension Wire is okay, the vocals on this CD aren't as up front as I'd like, it was recorded in the Rocket from The Tombs loft.

But Down In Flames has far more intensity here than on their first album, which makes the not-so-great sound quality a real shame. Really fantastic, the best thing on here.

If you are a Dead Boys fan, don't think about it much, just get it while you can. It's only ten minutes long, but I'm a firm believer in quality over quantity.
