I love this CD. These bands do some really outstanding versions of U2 Songs. Instead of doing lame soundalike covers they do it in a bunch of different styles. Only Peoplemover tried to be a carbon copy of U2, Boo for Peoplemover. There are many rocking versions on this CD. I really lived Drag's Rocked out version of "Discotheque" and Statica's pop rock "Who's gonna ride the wild horses." There are also so cool arty folkish versions like Friction Bailey's "Pride." If you like a wild variety of music like I do and Love U2 like I do, You should pick this up CD.

I own many U2 Tributes and Even Better Than The Real Thing is the best I've heard. I really love many of the tracks, and only hate a couple. This CD sounds great, some of the others tribute CDs sound like they were recorded in bed rooms. This CD has a wide variety of style, which I really like. All of the bands on this do their U2 songs in the style of their band, and it's really cool. I've never heard of most of these bands before, but I'm sure I'll be hearing more from many of them. My favorite Tracks are The Relatives - With Or Without You and Doom Kounty Electric Chairs - Medley. Drag does a cool rock version of Discotheque and Friction Bailey's version of Pride almost makes me cry. If you like U2 or any of the bands on this CD, buy this one. I think it's worth it!

I loved about a 1/4 of these songs and didn't like the rest. Which is better than any other tribute I've heard. It's worth it alone to hear the very different takes on the songs. My faves - Danny Dean's rockabilly "Two Hearts", Trespassers William's gorgeous "Love is Blindness" and Aaron Kaplan's soulful "One".

Not really "better than the real thing" but fun none the less. "Pride" and "Bullet the blue sky" are bad. "Love Is Blindness" made me ill but I never like the original. "With or without you" is definately worth a listen, as well as very cool renditions of "Where the Streets have no name" and "Wild Horses." A must have for the U2 fan like me! It's a cool cd to add to your U2 collection.

This is an album of U2 covers by various alternative artists. While I don't think the album lives up to the title, it's worth a listen especially if you are a U2 fan.
