5.0 out of 5 stars Great for families March 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a great recipe book for families on the go who need to feed their family members fast. You spend a little bit of time in the kitchen investing in the cooking and storage process and very little heating it back up again to feed the minions.

I collect cookbooks and really enjoyed this one for the convenience factor.

EVEN MORE MAKE AND FREEZE RECIPES (EAT BETTER FOR LESS GUIDES)
by Erin Kennedy and Mara Michaels

I cannot rate this as a cook book, but will rate this as a guide. It is wonderfull ywritten and is very instructive. It is a great guide for beginning homemakers/cooking, but is good for the rest of us also. I learned a lot I didn't know about freezing. I liked their tips for organizing the freezer. The recipes are basic, but good for inspiration. I could not download their printout list (they give you a link to a website to get this), but this didn't bother me much as I can make up my own list after reading the guide. Because the recipes are secondary to this guide, I am not recommending any although there were a few recipes and I underlined many of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Freezing vs Canning May 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I learned to can a long long time ago. However, I live in a condo now and really don't have much room to can ... where do I put my pressure cooker, etc. So I love that I can freeze so many food items. I loved the hints and the information on what is good to freeze and how

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good reasoning behind this book August 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I prefer to freeze over canning. It really is a storage issue for me. It is also faster to freeze. You keep more nutrients in the food if frozen and foods taste better. It is awesome to be able to go to the freezer and thaw supper out instead of cooking and cleaning the kitchen every night.

4.0 out of 5 stars Informative August 21, 2014
By LadyD
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is an informative guide on how to store food properly. From freezer to thawing food, then heating in the microwave or oven, you'll be feeding your family healthily and cheaply. I've been canning and preserving food for quite sometime now, so I was able to pick up a few pointers from the authors. Basically, cooking several times a month frees up your time to enjoy other things. So you'll save time and money when you freeze in bulk. What I liked the most was the idea of color coded containers and labeling for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A useful tip is to spread out flat your containers in the freezer and then later stack them. I will use the Split Pea recipe, the Make-Ahead Tomato Sauce and I especially like the Homemade Chili Powder recipe and the Homemade Italian Seasoning one but the rest of the recipes were just o.k.
