4.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff, whimsical and fun, September 2, 1999
This review is from: Even One Is Quite A Few (Audio CD)
Most of the songs verge on being laugh out loud funny. Mixed in are one or two more serious (or less amusings) pieces, as well as one or two that fall flat. I think my enjoyment of the CD is enhanced by the fact that I've seen KY&E live, and they give good show. But if you're in the mood for something different, with perhaps a touch of Presidents of the USA, give Kenny Young and the Eggplants a try.

4.0 out of 5 stars A refreshing good album in a bad musicial time, September 4, 2001

This album is very fun. It has choppy guitar work mixed over with low end bass and drum "beats"(its more banging on stuff than any real drum work, it still sounds great). I love how this band can poke fun at themselfs but at the same time be very serious on the album and write very well crafted songs. Its a very original folk joke music that i think anyone would enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars These guys are a stitch, April 28, 2000
This review is from: Even One Is Quite A Few (Audio CD)
I don't listen to much rock & roll (whatever that really is) anymore, but I was a major addict not too many years ago. These days, even the stuff that's on good little left-of-the-dial radio stations often seems stale & heartless to me. Kenny Young is an exception, though. This CD is Jonathan Richmond/Robyn Hitchcock-esque, if that means anything to you. More importantly, it's very smart, and very funny. The music is your basic unplugged three-chord stuff mostly, but done with so much energy and silliness that it's a pure delight. How can you hate a song that begins, "I am a savage eggplant?"

I saw these guys in Edinburgh a couple of times, and their live show is also wonderful. Buy this CD, and catch 'em live if you can! Even my church-organist husband loves Kenny Young.
