4.0 out of 5 stars Soul Searching, May 23, 2008

At first glance this book looks like any other urban anthology, but consider the title: Even Sinners Have Souls. Well renowned street lit authors B.L.U.N.T, Chunichi, KaShamba Williams and Noire have joined forces to share different kinds of stories - those of redemption.

B.L.U.N.T. opens with "Double Jeopardy", a story of identical twins with opposite lifestyles. Chunichi follows with "Trust No Man", a powerful tale of a young woman living dangerously until she is forced to recognize a higher power. "Backslider" written by KaShamba proves that showing up to church every Sunday and singing HIS praises doesn't mean you are `holier than thou', a backslider can be an active church member too-ya betta ask somebody! Noire treats readers to "Everything for the Truth, a story of an NFL player's wife who must decide between her faith and her husband.

In this anthology, all contributors brought something different to the table. Free of obscenities and graphic sex scenes each tale centered on a character that finds redemption and solace in a higher power. It was enlightening to see that each of these writers could step outside their comfort zone and still come out swinging. My favorite of the bunch without a doubt was "Trust No Man". Even Sinners Have Souls is not for those who thrive on detailed intimacy and an abundance of cuss words. If you are looking for an easy, enlightening read with a message behind it, this one may be for you. It's a proven fact, just like the title of the book - Even Sinners Have Souls.

4.0 out of 5 stars (RAW Rating: 3.5) Have Mercy!, October 7, 2008

This review is from: Even Sinners Have Souls (Paperback)
EVEN SINNERS HAVE SOULS is a collaboration of several authors of urban literature with tales having a different spin. "My Sister's Keeper" by B.L.U.N.T., is about identical sisters one of which lives afoul of the law. What happens when the wrong twin is charged with her sister's crimes? In "Trust No Man" by Chunuchi, a young girl who is growing up too fast loses her grandmother and learns the power of God's love through the love shown to her and the love others had for her grandmother. "Backslider" by Kashamba Williams chronicles the impact of an illicit affair between an associate minister and another ministry leader. And "Everything for the Truth" by Noire is about the wife of a NFL star who learns of her husband's devastating secret. Should she keep quiet and ignore the harm he does to others in order to continue living her lavish lifestyle?

Nikki Turner introduces the book with statements regarding the perception of readers towards writers of urban literature. Most readers feel that books penned are a reflection of the author's real-life and that the author's are not spiritual and have no relationship with God. Turner points out that without God, they would not have the gift of writing. This collection let readers know regardless of backgrounds, lifestyles or locations, everyone has a soul that needs to be saved. Excellent job.

1.0 out of 5 stars What?????????????, May 18, 2008
This review is from: Even Sinners Have Souls (Paperback)
I am so dissappointed with this book , I waited six months for this book to be released and it was awful. I was not expecting to read church stories and to be honest i would not hav paid my money if i knew what the content of this book was. I love all the authors who had a chance to write in this book but i really hope that they never write a book full of church stories again. VERY DISSAPOINTING!!!!!!!!!!!
