From the Manufacturer

Evenflo's Johnny Jump Up is the perfect answer to portable learn and playtime fun. This Johnny Jump Up helps baby achieve 3 important developmental milestones: gross motor skills, cause and effect and balance and coordination. The bright, colorful frog print seat pad removes easy and is machine washable providing for convenient cleaning opportunities. A sturdy door frame clamp provides secure fit to interior doorways at least 3 ", but no more than 6 " thick with firmly affixed door trim at least ½ inch wide. Adjustable straps allow you to size and adjust the Johnny Jump Up to accommodate a baby's changing height and weight, as well as a particular doorway's dimensions.

My baby loves to jump but this jumper is too big for him.

The first time I put her in it, she jumped and jumped, obviously enjoying herself, but after that first time, she never wanted to be in it again.

Our seven month old daughter does not like being on her tummy so she does not like to crawl or attempt to crawl. She loves kicking and we got the Johnny Jump Up Bug to help her use her legs more without having to be laying down on her tummy. She loves it. She now loves sitting up and kicking her legs and making herself move around. Since Johnny Jump Up Bug does not have a tray it is easy to get her in and out and she has not come close to pinching her fingers like the reviews for jumpers that have trays usually state. We are very pleased with the quality for it's low price and will use it for our future kids.

My daughter has been using he Jenny Jump Up since she was 7 months old. At first she just dangled there, but after a week or so she got the hang of jumping. Now, at nearly 9 months, I don't know who gets a bigger kick out of it--her or everyone who gets to see her jumping and giggling. Now that she is becoming more mobile she only tolerates it for short spurts, but she does have a blast for those 7 minutes! I was concerned about damage to the door moulding, but so far I see none. Here's why I like it:
1. At about $20, you can't go wrong. Throw in another $5 item on Amazon and you may qualify for free shipping.
2. It's space efficient and travels well (as long as you are going to a place with the right size interior door jams and trim)
3. So far we have had no injuries with it--though my daughter is not unusually acrobatic--just the typical jumper.
4. It was just the thing to keep my baby occupied when she wanted to stand/jump but was still pretty immobile (and when I was unable to assist)

Here are a few things to note:
1.Some reviewers complain that the spring is too stiff, but it's actually a friction problem (when the spring rubs against the plastic tube that encases it). I used a q-tip to smear petroleum jelly (chosen for it's baby safeness) between the spring and plastic casing, and it fixed the problem.
2. Make sure you have an interior door jam that fits the specified width and that has trim around it. Otherwise you will not be able to use it.
3. It can be a pain getting the child in (aiming squirmy legs for two holes in a dangling seat) and back out (you pick up the child and the seat comes, too). If you are willing to put up with the minor inconvenience, its a great toy.
4. I only gave it 4 stars beacuse it can only be used for a small window of time--from the time they have good head control till the time they prefer to move around freely. But for $20, maybe I'm expecting too much!

This product is well made and a value for the cost. But the bucket seat is huge. I baught this for my daughter who was four months old at the time and weighed almost sixteen pounds and 25 inches. Her legs were spread wide making it difficult to jump, and her body slipped from one side of the seat to the other. I tried stuffing a blanket around her to keep in the middle, but she was never able to enjoy it. I since purchased a much smaller jumper that she enjoys now. I kept this jumper because I do like it and think she will enjoy it at about 8 to 10 months when she is a bigger baby, if she's not already walking by then.

First off I have to qualify that I am the father of four and have had three Johny-Jump-Up products myself as well as two others that my parents bought for younger siblings, and several friends with them to boot. On top of that I design consumer products and know about quality and function.

The old style Johny-Jump-Ups were terrific, I purchased them in 2000 and 2003 from Toys R Us for my first two kids with the heavy duty all metal external (non-sheathed) spring, and surrounding serving tray just like my parents had back in the 80's/90's for my younger siblings. These things bounced freely and sat kids comfortably. My eldest two were enjoying them from four months untill they walked. They could literally jump off the ground like they were on a trampoline.

This product is made with a useless low quality spring encased in a high friction plastic sheath, and a metal tube suspended basket with no food/toy tray. As soon as I took it out of the package I had my doubts, but still I was underestimating just how poor this product is. First off the spring does not bounce period, it just sags and aids slightly in rebounding. To make matters worse the basket is ridiculously huge, I mean a school age child could fit in it if not for the small leg holes. The metal rim on the basket came up to my 6 months old 90th percentile sons nose causing him to smash his face into it anytime he did a near facimile of a bounce. These things are supposed to not only entertain your child, but train his legs and brain the skills and strength needed to walk. What is the point if your child can walk well before he can fit in the bouncer. I tried to use the "bouncer" for a while even well after my son was walking just to see if he had grown into it.

The clamp that hangs from the door frame is very secure, and the strap is adjustable for the baby's height. It's rather hard to get the baby into it, however. It's also rather large and bulky and my baby gets his hands stuck in the leg holes. I wish it didn't have the metal frame and fit more snugly around his body so he felt more free to jump around. This problem will probably not be such an issue when he gets bigger, though.

Overall, it's a good product.
