GREAT for the price!!!,

This is my second breast pump. The first one I had was electric and I used it maybe a doz. times. First of all it made my nipples very sore because the suction was so vigoreous and I had no way to really control it and second, the motor died on me. Having a manual one is nice because you can control the vacuum to whatever feels comfertable. And this one in particular has many different settings. The silicone piece that fits inside the horn is SO comfertable and massages you while you are pumping. The nipple to the bottle is perfect for my little nurser. It is shaped just like a real nipple and the flow is perfect. The assembly is extremely easy along with washing! The only thing that I do not like about this product is that my hands get tired from pumping. But I guess that is expected when you pump manually.
WAY TO GO EVENFLO
Hope this helps!!!

do not buy this hand pump,
This review is from: Evenflo Comfort Selet Manual Breast Pump (Baby Product)
I went out of town and forgot my breast pump. I bought this pump for about twenty bucks. It took 30 minutes to pump 2 oz. I hand expressed the milk instead. My breasts were FULL and it could not pump hardly anything. The pumping action is VERY SLOW also, so not only is it totally ineffective it is slow too. I have the Medela hand pump and it is wonderful. do not buy this pump get the medela

great for the price,

I'm used to my electric pump, but a piece broke so I had to go out and by a manual. I found this one for super cheap. The time I used it I hated it, I thought I bought a hunk-o-junk. But I've used it a bunch of times since that first time and now I love it. It's a great little product for the price. It's cheaply made but does the trick. Yes it takes longer and is alot of work, but it got the same amount of milk out that my electric one does. So overall I like this pump and is perfect for when I'm on the go and dont want to haul my electric one. But the Evenflo pads that come with it are terrible.

This was awful. I used it for my first baby, and I maybe used it 5 times and the handle clicked out of place and wouldn't ever pump right after that. It also leaked really bad when the milk would go down into the tunnel to go in the bottle. It wouldn't go all the way down instead it would leak down my breast. It hurt my hand so bad to pump. I would get the amount of milk I needed but it took forever, and I would have to keep pushing the handle back in place. I am difinitley getting a new. When I look at the price of this thing it makes me sick that I spent that much on it. I wish I could give it 0 stars.

horrible,

I actually just threw this across the room. This is my 3rd baby / third time pumping. I've always used an Aventi manual pump and got this because it was cheaper. It's difficult to use, slow and impossible to clean. I hate throwing this away...such a waste but I can't take it anymore!!

My old Avent Isis that my sister loaned to me broke, so I went out looking for a replacement. I selected this Evenflo pump, because it seemed to look the most like the Isis. Apparently, all pumps are NOT created equal. When I used to pump with the Isis, my milk came out so easily, quickly, and with no discomfort. With this one, after about 20 minutes I had only one ounce out of each, my hand was so tired, and I was sore. Didn't seem to matter which setting I had it on, or whether I had the horn insert in or not. It also recommended hand expressing to begin with, before I began pumping...but didn't really think that was practical, since most of the time I will be using this in public bathrooms, while my little one is at home with Dad. I went online and spent the extra $ to order a new Avent Isis.

I have now used two manual pumps. I prefer manual because I can control the pump speed myself, they are lightweight, cheap, and easy to take along in a purse. I have been using a Madela Harmony manual pump, and I LOVE it. But I just went on a trip and accidentally left it at my sister's house. I pump everyday (already back at work full time) so I needed another pump ASAP. I bought the Evenflo Comfort select because it was $15 cheaper than the madela manual pump at Burlington. Well, I really wish I had just spent the extra money on the one I knew was good. First, the evenflo manual pump does do the job--just not as well as I would like. I definitely got my usual 8 ounces of milk in about 20 or 30 minutes, and the cone that sits around my breast was very comfortable. The problem is all with the pump assembly. The handle is bigger than the madela Harmony, so it is harder for someone with medium or small hands to actually get a good grip around it. If you have large hands, i guess you'll be fine. I thought it would be nice to have the variable vacuum setting for pumping, but it is so stiff on the maximum setting, that my hands tire out right away (and I'm a pretty strong person!). So I have it on the easiest setting and it is still harder to pump than the madela manual pump. Now for the real kicker, the pump assembly occasionally jumps off the "horn" assemble. Basically I will be pumping right along and the pump and handle part will just come right off. This happened about 3 or 4 times in a single pumping. I was fed up.
So I called Evenflo and after being on hold for about 5 minutes I spoke to a very nice representative. With breast-pumps, once you use them, you can't return them.. According to her this is not a common problem, but it seems to me to be a design problem not a defect with my particular pump. She did a little trouble-shooting with me and then gave me two options (1) get a replacement pump or (2) get credit to purchase something else with them. We opted for the credit because we buy a lot of other evenflo products. I'm definitely bummed that I now have to go buy a new pump, but at least they were really nice about trying to reimburse us with other products, and we don't have to pay for shipping. Also, we get to keep the nipple and breast pads that came with the pump, so that is nice. Bottom line: if you are going to use a manual pump, go with the Madela Harmony. This one by Evenflo is much more difficult to use, much less comfortable, and possible defective.

Piece of garbage,
This review is from: Evenflo Comfort Selet Manual Breast Pump (Baby Product)
This pump never worked for me. There's something wrong with the valves or something where the milk doesn't even make it into the bottle. It leaked out the handle part, so I ended up with milk all over myself. Then I washed it to see if I could get it to work, and it smelled moldy. What a waste of $20.

I bought this pump to put in my diaper bag and use when hauling and/or taking out my Playtex Embrace Double Electric pump is inconvenient. Overall I have been extremely happy with this pump and have used it several times (I have 6 week old twins) without many complaints. I agree with the other reviews that my hands can get tired when I am trying to pump two 3oz bottles (to replace a feeding when I give my boys bottles), but I feel this is to be expected with a manual pump (I have not tried any other manual pumps for comparison.) Also, occasionally, after a while of pumping, the handle does something funny and I have to manually retract it, but overall this pump hasn't let me down and I think it is a great buy for the price.
Features that I love are: - the pump is very easy to assemble and disassemble (and I do not find cleaning a problem). As a result I find myself turning to this pump over my Playtex when I only need to pump a small amount. - everything, including two small Playtex bottles, fit nicely into the carrying case. The case if easy to wipe down and fits well inside my diaper bag. - The bottle, and especially the nipple, provided with the pump are great! I first used this pump while traveling with my mom through Chicago with my 2 week old sons. We were stuck in traffic and my babies started waking and crying (it was time for a feeding). I reached for the pump, pumped 3 oz in less than 10 minutes, turned around in my seat and gave the first baby the bottle. Without even hesitating the baby took the bottle and drank (this was the first time my children ever had a bottle!). I like the nipple so much I am trying to find them to use with my Playtex bottles. |
