Best Mix of Toys,
By Eliza "Theia" (Seattle, Wa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Evenflo In the Garden Walk Around ExerSaucer (Baby Product)
When our daughter got to an age where we thought an exersaucer would be appropriate I spent several hours comparing features and I picked this one because it had one of the greatest varieties of attachments in our price range. It includes two chew toys attached with ribbons, a snail-shaped bead rattle attachment, a bendy flower, a mirror, a bee on a pull string, a bead chaser type attachment (with plastic animals instead of beads), and most important an interactive family tree.
One side of the family tree has three crinkly peek-a-boo leaves with frames for family pictures underneath. Our LO *loves* to pull the leaves. And besides the crinkly effect you can also flip a switch to make it say encouraging things when she pulls them, it even uses the appropriate voice (the mom leaf speaks in a mothering voice, the dad leaf in a male voice). Another flip of the switch and it plays short musical tunes instead. The other side of the tree has four large buttons - large enough that even a younger baby can activate them. Each is in the shape of a fruit and has a number engraved in them. In the talking mode pressing the buttons results in voice saying the fruit, color, number, or some combination. For example pressing the pear may result in the phrase "three pears" or "three green pears" or simply "green". In music mode the result is - you guessed it - music. The buttons also flash. Really a great interactive toy. My only complaint is that the top two buttons are difficult for her to reach. As soon as she got tall enough to reach them easily she was beginning to bow her legs in it and we had to move up to the next height and then she couldn't reach them again. Our daughter can be entertained for up to an hour in this thing. We got it even she was 5 months old - she loved it then and she loves is now (also 9 months). Really grows with baby.

We looked into several different styles of exersaucers, and decided on this model based on others reviews. Our little guy really enjoys the toys attached (flower mirror, rattle snail, buzzing bee, etc.). Only problems I see with this model are one time I was taking him out of it and he bent his knees up while pulling him out and scratched the tops of his knees on the under side of the rotating seat. The under side of the seat is not covered by padding or fabric, so just keep in mind when getting your kid out. Also the on/off switch for the brake doesn't really work that great. You really have to push down on the switch to get it to lock in.

Wonderful Evenflo Garden ExerSaucer,

I purchased this item for my daughter and it has been everything I wanted and more. I love it because it is so much safer to have the baby walk around in one area than walk around the whole house. I can lock the wheels and she can still walk in place since the seat turns around in a complete circle. It has wonderful toys, lights and music on the other side of the tree in the shape of fruits and each is a different color. It teaches colors, fruits and even short sentences. The other side of the tree has 3 flip open leafs and each reveals a plastic photo frame where you can put pictures. A picture for Daddy, Mommy, and Baby. When the baby tugs on the leaf each sais "Mommy", "Daddy", "Baby". The bee buzzes in and out of the hive, and the other toys rattle and spin, It also has two teether toys that are not really visible in this picture. Best of all you can remove many of the toys really easy and take them along with you. This Walker looks great and is a real show stopper. Everyone in our family loves it because it is so cute and safe too. It is not that hard to travel with. It fits in my truck and I have a camry, I just have to lower the settings for the height. My daughter loves it. I really recommend it especially if you are a new parent like my husband and I. It makes me feel safe knowing my daughter is in this walker and nearby where I can see her.

Fun but Flawed,
This review is from: Evenflo In the Garden Walk Around ExerSaucer (Baby Product)
My twin girls have been using this exersaucer for two months now. They seem to enjoy it, although, not as much as their Baby Einstein Jumperoo. The toys on the Garden Exersaucer are moderatly fun and visually stimulating. The tree is the best feature with lots of buttons and ways to interact. The Exersaucer has a few major flaws: The bottom edge of the light green part of the plastic has sharp/rough/unfinished edges. I have scratched myself several times standing up next to it and I've very nervous that once my babies start to crawl and want to crawl UNDER this thing that they are going to cut or scratch their little heads. I'm going to get my husband to sand down the edge. Also, as another reviewer stated, the clip for the beehive toy doesn't work. The toy pops loose whenever the bee is pulled. My babies have hit themselves in the face more than once after pulling the toy to hear it buzz. Not cool. I noticed that the other toys are also getting looser as time goes on. I'm worried they are going to start popping loose soon. And last, the lid for the snack tray comes off. It was this way from Day 1. Really the only reliable toy on this exersaucer is the tree and the bug arch. I probably would buy something else given the chance again.

Not well made!,
This review is from: Evenflo In the Garden Walk Around ExerSaucer (Baby Product)
Sadly, Evenflo is not making great exersaucers any more. Four years ago I had their circus model and it was one of my 'Must Have' items. I bought one of those again for the new baby and sadly discovered the music feature was not part of the newest models and returned it. I went on a search and after reading great reviews on this one, I purchased it. The toys are all easily popped out by my baby. When we first got it, she was 4 months old and could take two of them out, no problem. Now, at 6 months she can get them all out. They each have a release latch that should need to be pushed on two sides to pop out the toys, but they can all just be pulled out. In the time it takes me to walk 10 feet to the kitchen, grab something and come right back, she has one pulled out and on the floor and will have a 2nd out and be aiming to stick the bottom in her mouth. This is just not safe. I contacted Evenflo and they sent me two replacement toys. The replacements do the same thing. I contacted Jessica Woolever (their rep) again to tell her the new toys pop out, and a week later, still no response. A number of reviews on one of the big box store's sites also mention this problem, so I do not believe it is just this individual unit. It is a cute exersaucer, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The feature to put in family photos is a cute idea. The Evenflo stickers also bubbled and peeled off on day one, which looked bad until I scrubbed the residue off. However, stickers are the least of my worries with this item. The baby seems to like it some, but she did prefer a bounce instead of this walk around. FYI, the walk around feature does not appear to work on carpets, only on hard surface floors. For the price, it really should be a great product....it is NOT. In the time it took me to write this, the large flower and snail have once again been pulled out. I guess it is OK if you constantly watch the baby in this, take the toys and put them back in. I do realize that we need to watch our babies at ALL TIMES. On the other hand, many parents but this type of item so they have a safe place to put the baby while they fold laundry, put a dish away or run to the bathroom. I wouldn't do that with this. If I had bought it here on Amazon with the 365 day return policy, it would have been returned by now. I purchased this at the big box store's website and for some reason recycled the box the next day so it cannot be returned. I just wish Evenflo customer service would respond.

Fun for grandparents too!,
This review is from: Evenflo In the Garden Walk Around ExerSaucer (Baby Product)
We purchased this walk around because it gives the baby some mobility without the risk of bumping into furniture or getting near stairways in a traditional walker on rollers. There is a lot to see and discover, and I like that the toys come out of the walker for easy cleaning and play when the baby is not in the walker. While the volume isn't too loud on the "talking tree" it's always nice to have a volume control button which is a feature I miss a little. The lid on the snack/bottle holder comes off easily, and it's one of baby's favorite things to tear off and throw before playing with the "real" toys. All in all, it's working out great! And it keeps grandparents busy for hours too :)

TOYS COME LOOSE,
This review is from: Evenflo In the Garden Walk Around ExerSaucer (Baby Product)
My baby loves the thing, however he is five months old and can get the toys loose and throws them across the floor. He loves to chew on the toys. It is easy for hom to walk on the hardwood floors yet difficult on carpet. All in all a fair product.

A Must Have Toy,
By
This review is from: Evenflo In the Garden Walk Around ExerSaucer (Baby Product)
I bought it for my 5 month old (at the time) daughter, she is 6 months now. She loved it immediately, because it helped her stand on her own. She couldn't quite reach everything at first, but now she has a ball in it. She can reach all the toys and chew on them (she's teething). This is my favorite toy for her and I'm very pleased with it. The price is a little steep but it is well worth it, and it has a height ajustment so it can grow with them. Also, its a safe walker so they don't walk into dangerous areas of the house.

Good Exersaucer...Faulty Construction?,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Evenflo In the Garden Walk Around ExerSaucer (Baby Product)
I really liked this exersaucer until the toys started popping out very easily from their connectors. Our baby girl is pretty rough on things, but I feel like the toys should stay in place better than they have. Also, unless this is used on a hard floor, the walk-around wheels and concept does not work as well as expected. Our tree leans to one side, as well. I hope others have had more luck with this items than we have!

Great Long Lasting ExerSaucer,
By Ben C.A. Nettle (The Last Frontier) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Evenflo In the Garden Walk Around ExerSaucer (Baby Product)
We bought this when our daughter was about 4.5-5 months old, and she still enjoys it at 9 months+.
The great thing about this is she got to walk around (in a limited area) without us worrying that she would run into things, go near stairs, etc. like with the mobile exersaucers. When we started her out in it, she was just barely able to touch on the lowest height setting, and really enjoyed the pullout teethers and the flowers (to bend over). After a while, she was able to start pulling the flowers out of the base, but still enjoyed playing with them quite a bit. Eventually we raised the height to accomadate her as she grew. As she got older, she began getting interested in other toys (the tree with buttons and leaves, the overhead bees/birds, etc.) The toys seem designed to span a wide age range of interest. She has spent a lot of time playing with this in the last 4-4.5 months. As she has gotten older, and is now standing and edging/stepping, she enjoys going up to the ExerSauce outside of it and playing with the toys, as well as using it as a walking aid as she spins it around. It really has been a great toy overall, and has lasted her longer than many of the other toys. I really can't think of any real complaints. |
