5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Seat!!
We absolutely LOVE this seat, and so does our now 14-month-old son! We originally bought it because it was recommended by Consumer Reports, and our son had gotten too tall to be rear-facing any longer. It is pricey, but we are so glad that we spent the money for this superior seat! The Sure-Latch system is awesome...it tightens down really well and installs quickly and...

Not designed well, your car seat belt when strapped through unit for rear facing cuts into the white foam & damages product, thus will really damage product if want to move it from car to car. Dimensions not fully accurate, item longer when in rear/recline position, thus won't fit. Only get this seat if you have a BIG car, our Xterra SUV was not big enough, could hardly...

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Seat!!, April 6, 2011

We absolutely LOVE this seat, and so does our now 14-month-old son! We originally bought it because it was recommended by Consumer Reports, and our son had gotten too tall to be rear-facing any longer. It is pricey, but we are so glad that we spent the money for this superior seat! The Sure-Latch system is awesome...it tightens down really well and installs quickly and easily! The padding on the sides is great, too...our son rarely slept in our old carseat because he could not comfortably lean his head to the side, but this seat has plush pillow-like sides that extend out further, and he can now comfortably snuggle up the the side supports and drift off to sleep. If I were forced to come up with a negative feature, the only thing I can think of is that this is quite a large seat and would probably not fit well in smaller cars. We have a Honda CR-V (smaller SUV) and a Honda Ridgeline pickup, and it fits fine. We have it placed in the center of our vehicles, so it might be more snug if we were to place it on one of the sides. All in all, this is a terrific seat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, July 6, 2011

This seat is built like a tank and easy to use... I love the quick latch system. If NASA was going to send a 14 month old to the moon they would probably use this car seat.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Big Easy, February 1, 2012
This review is from: Evenflo Momentum 65 DLX Convertible Car Seat featuring SureLATCH, Biscotti (Baby Product)
I have two different car seats - one for each car - and I'm comparing the Britax Boulevard 70 with the Evenflo Momentum, and I like the Momentum much better. (and it's about HALF the price!) Of course ALL car seats (not just the pricey ones) meet stringent safety requirements and undergo the same government testing, so reviews that suggest some are safer than others are basically just guessing.

What I like about the Britax:
- nice looking fabric
- steel frame
- relatively slim size
- easy to adjust height of straps (but not as easy as the Momentum)
- easy front facing belt or latch installation (but latch system on Momentum is much better)

What I don't like about the Britax:
-straps tangle easily
-not a very cushy seat/padding
-difficult to install rear facing
-cover slides off the top and has to be pulled back on every so often
These are small flaws. It's a great seat. BUT - these flaws make the extra cost seem like too much - a seat this expensive should not have these problems, in my opinion.

What I like better about the Momentum:
-very cushy seat - lots of side padding. My son loves it.
-easy straps, they don't tangle or get stuck in the fabric
-easy to adjust height of shoulder straps
-ratcheting system on latch ("SureLatch") - no threading the strap through - it took me about 10 seconds to get this seat out of my car and into grandma's
-super soft fabric cover that is a cinch to remove if washing becomes necessary
-good recline in rear facing mode (easy to get it level)

Problem with the Momentum:
-this thing is huge (side to side especially). It fits without a problem in any mid size or larger car (my Subaru outback and in my husband's Mazda protege), but if you have more than one other passenger in the backseat, it's a tight fit.

If we had it to do over, we would probably buy two Momentums (since the size isn't an issue for us). The Britax is a great seat but you're paying more money for something that is not quite as user friendly.

2.0 out of 5 stars Huge & Poorly Made, November 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Evenflo Momentum 65 DLX Convertible Car Seat featuring SureLATCH, Biscotti (Baby Product)
I just received this today and am returning it tomorrow. My first issue with it is that the seat cover wasn't properly attached. Part of the Velcro used to attach the fabric to the seat was left off, so the entire part of the seat by the head rest was just kind of sticking out and flopping around. It looks awful. Second, as many other reviewers have said, this seat is HUGE! It fits fine in the center back seat of my Ford Escape, but there isn't much room for anyone/anything else back there. I do love the SureLatch connectors, and it does seem like it would be very comfortable. I'm quite disappointed in this seat, though.

By the way, this seat is REALLY brown. Not a big fan of the color, but that alone wouldn't have prompted me to return this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great seat, but very large, February 22, 2012
This review is from: Evenflo Momentum 65 DLX Convertible Car Seat featuring SureLATCH, Biscotti (Baby Product)
This is a very nice looking, high quality seat. I bought it because of the excellent safety reviews. My problem with it is the size. My son is nine months old, and has outgrown his infant car seat. I needed a larger seat, but they are recommending you keep children back-facing until age two. Unfortunatly my car is too small to do this. The car seat hits the back of the front seats when you try to install it back-facing. (My car is mid-sized) I had to put him forward-facing. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend any parent to use this for a newborn unless you have a van or very large car. Other than that problem, I really like this seat. Easy to install, easy to get my son in and out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cadillac of Carseats - Very Pleased!!!, February 7, 2012
This review is from: Evenflo Momentum 65 DLX Convertible Car Seat featuring SureLATCH, Biscotti (Baby Product)
We just purchased this today from Burlington Coat Factory where it sold for $179.00 (it is currently selling for $129.99 on Amazon). The carseat comes set up for rear-facing use and I will be using it in a forward-facing position so I needed to make the conversion. I will admit it wasn't the easiest to convert and I am quite experienced mechanically. All-in-all it took me about 30 minutes to figure out what I needed to do and make the conversion. Of all the carseats I previewed at Babys-R-Us, Walmart and Burlington Coat Factory, I felt this was the best quality seat in terms of overall safety it had to offer (cost was not my priority) for my child.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, January 2, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Evenflo Momentum 65 DLX Convertible Car Seat featuring SureLATCH, Biscotti (Baby Product)
This car seat is very difficult to install rear facing, especially if you have to install it with a seat belt. It is also very large, I could barely fit it into my parent's Buick Enclave and it did NOT fit into my Jetta. It also seems to me that it would require a rolled up towel in most cars, which to me is a huge negative. As well, once we finally got it buckeled into my other car, the incline was too steep rear facing, thus posing a breathing hazard. I think that base on this seat is designed poorly for rear facing.

That said, I could see this as a great forward facing car seat if you have a large car and want a super comfy highly rated seat. I returned mine as I could not use it. It may aso work well as a rear facing for some (if you have a HUGE car and a back seat that does not incline hardly at all.)

3.0 out of 5 stars Returning...Not impressed with quality., October 11, 2011

This review is from: Evenflo Momentum 65 DLX Convertible Car Seat featuring SureLATCH, Biscotti (Baby Product)
Overall, from a distance, looks like a great product. Very sturdy looking, large, extremely soft. However, I am so unimpressed with the insert in this seat I am returning it. It slides all over the place and the head piece is attached by a mini piece of velcro and also doesn't stay in place. If I am paying $150 for a nice seat, I want things to stay where they are supposed to be. Overall, seems like too many irritating items when I just want to quickly get my little one into this seat and go. I'll keep shopping.

2.0 out of 5 stars Seat cushion are not in place..., November 14, 2011
This review is from: Evenflo Momentum 65 DLX Convertible Car Seat featuring SureLATCH, Biscotti (Baby Product)
Bought this car seat based on the recommendation from Consumer Reports and I must say it is a bust. The only good thing from this car seat is the ease of installation. The sure latch is easy to use and tight enough not to move around. However the instructions of the proper installation is very confusing. For example, (the arrow should be level to the ground), and you really don't know what they mean by that. The recline also don't seem to be reclined enough for the baby to seat comfortably. The head has no support turning left and right. The worst thing about this car seat is the cushion are not in place. They are so loose, you can see the underlying construction of the seat like the metal inside. Baby should not seat on metal. This is the same compliant from other reviews here, same for me and it is true. I am not sure exposed metal and loose cushion are an intended design from Evenflo, but I think when things are not holding together as they should, they just don't look right to me. No, I would not recommend this car seat to anyone. Very poor build quality.
