5.0 out of 5 stars Folds flat! comfy for me and baby
Wow this is the best hiker I have used yet! A real good buy for the money. I have spent over $100.00 on other caryall packs and had to take them back due to hard to use, bulky, and just did not work very well. This one folds away to almost nothing when not in use and is very comfy to wear and even fits Dad who is a large frame 6foot 2in man! I love all the storage room...

2.0 out of 5 stars Very little adjustability
I just spent an hour with a number of different packs; I was primarily interested in the Cross Country, as it seemed to offer a lot of features for the money.

In person, it was a disappointment. Very skimpy padding was badly placed for me (male, average athletic build, 5'11"). And when they say that it is adjustable to fit 5' to 6'2", I'm pretty sure they grabbed that...

I was a little afraid of buying something like this online, without being able to really see or feel it. But lucky me, this was the one I picked and it works like a dream! I have back trouble and carring my 24lb. 7month old around everywhere was starting to kill me. On top of that he was starting to get adveturous enough that being shoved in a stroller was his idea of torture. So I bought this carrier to get daily relief so that my back could heal and I could still get things done.

Now after using it almost everyday for over a month, I still love it. Some days he's in there for HOURS while I run errands and do my work, and my back does fine. I will say that you need to understand and adjust all the straps properly to get the fit just right and experiance the best load transfer to the legs, but once adjusted it is extremely effective. One guy said that it didn't look like it changed enough to accomidate a taller man after looking at it in the store, but it was obvious after seeing it that he simply did not bother to see how the staps worked. I am 5'5" and my husband is just outside the suggested height range at 6'3", and it fits us BOTH beautifully. And the snaps and such that buckle in the baby and adjust the waist belt are color coded so you don't have to fish for them, VERY cool.

I also have to say that I was suprised at the amount of storage space it offers. I was afraid that I still might have to lug a diaper bag along with me, but was overjoyed when I found that a small bag with diapers, wipes, food, toys and my personals would fit into the compartment under the seat with room to spare!

I do wish it had a pocket for wallet or cellphone within reach, but I've solved that by hooking a clip on cellphone pouch to one of the front straps. Overall, baby goes in securely, my back is saved, the adjustments allow a perfect fit for almost any frame, and I can wear it for hours. GREAT PRODUCT.

4.0 out of 5 stars a much better choice than trailblazer, July 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Evenflo Snugli Cross Country Frame Carrier (Toy)
I recently purchased the Trailblazer after reading all the positive feedback on it. What a disappointment! After spending three days trying to adjust the numerous straps and clips, I simply could not find a comfortable setting. It was just too cumbersome! The Cross Country is lighter, much easier to adjust, with a sleeker design that makes it better for travel and storage. We use a backpack often...just around the house and for travel...and this is a great choice. My daughter sits very comfortably in it,is able to see everything around her, and is able to interact with me without straining to peer over my shoulder like in the Trailblazer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Frame for an Active Lifestyle!, March 27, 2003

As a very active mother who loves to take long walks and hikes with her babies, I am very happy with my Evenflo Cross Country frame carrier. It easily adjusts to fit any frame or build (my husband loves using it, too). It is padded, lightweight and very comfortable. Because if folds away and becomes very small, storage in the closet or car is so easy. I would recommend this carrier to anyone who wants to see the world with their baby!

4.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC BACKPACK, May 31, 2003
By

I bought this backpack in preparation for a hiking trip we'd be taking to Mt. Rainier, WA. I tried on 4 different models in the store (all are on this website), and found this one to be by far the most comfortable to wear for me and my 1 1/2 yr old child and also the most compact. It folds quite flat for easy packing and storing. Once I got it home, I found I had to do quite a bit of adjusting to get it to feel like the one in the store. But after less than an hour, I had it ready to go.

Our biggest concern was whether or not our baby would enjoy being in it so we could go on long hikes. We shouldn't have worried. She absolutely loved it. Even when she was tired she could just lay her head on her daddy's shoulder and relax. SHe was well padded and positioned close to her daddy, which I think is really good. It's more comfortable for everyone that way. This pack looked better and more comfortable than any other baby backpacks we saw on the trip, even the expensive Kelty Kids packs. Most importantly, my husband felt very little back or shoulder strain after 2-3 hr hikes on rugged terrain. He did mention however that after about 2 hrs with the pack on, it starts to feel a little heavy. My husband is 5 feet 11 and about 140 lbs. The pack fit him well. Our only recommendation is, if possible, have 2 people help get the pack on and off your back. You can do it alone, but it's not nearly as easy. Having 2 people just makes it go a little more smoothly. Oh, and we would also recommend going on a few walks with your baby in the pack to get the wearer acustomed to the feel and weight of it. That way, when you get to your destination, you'll be prepared for and conditioned to a little extra weight in back. We love this pack. Thanks Snugli!

5.0 out of 5 stars This gets use in our family, May 15, 2003

We bought this for our trip to Disneyland. It was really nice for the the shorter days (8 hours or less). We rented a stroller for the days we spent 12 hours in the theme park. I now use it on photography excursions, at soccer games and for walks. Getting the right fit is a bit cumbersome (it took me about a day to get everything right), but once I found the right fit using the backpack was a dream. The little carrier attached is good for bottles, diapers and toys. There is a toy/pacifier holder located within baby's reach and a the "kick stand" is very helpful. My own personal advice is to stash a bottle of sunscreen in the mini carrier because baby is in the sun quite a bit if you're going on long walks/trips.

I have a 13 month old and we bought this for the looks and it is lightwieght. It is great and fits myself and my husband well. The baby enjoys it too. Great storage, great kickstand, and the only complaint I have is that it does not have a shade.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very little adjustability, February 26, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Evenflo Snugli Cross Country Frame Carrier (Toy)
I just spent an hour with a number of different packs; I was primarily interested in the Cross Country, as it seemed to offer a lot of features for the money.

In person, it was a disappointment. Very skimpy padding was badly placed for me (male, average athletic build, 5'11"). And when they say that it is adjustable to fit 5' to 6'2", I'm pretty sure they grabbed that text from their TrailBlazer and forgot to edit it. At its lowest of three available positions, the hip belt was still to high for me. The range of adjustment for the hip belt is on the order of an inch, and the way you adjust it leaves me to doubt you would even see that amount of adjustment. Compared side-by-side to the TrailBlazer, with the tops of the shoulder straps of each pack aligned with the other, the hip belt on the Cross Country in lowest position was about even with that of the TrailBlazer in its next-to-highest position (it has 5 settings).

This carrier is just too small to fit the average person, and lack of adequate padding just makes a bad fit worse. About the only thing I could see as an advantage is how small and flat it folds for storage, which for me would be a tremondous advantage as it would spend an awful lot of time in the closet.

My husband and I absolutely love this backpack. We received a soft carrier at our baby shower but our son grew out of it so quickly that I only used it once. We tried this one in the store, and found it light weight, easy to adjust and it was so easy to get on and off even by yourself. Our little guy is 7 months old, 19 pounds and 29 inches long, he is very comfy in it, so much that he can even sleep when on his Dad's back. It also works out well because we have a dog too. Walking her and carrying the baby is easy as can be, no more stroller for us!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Folds Flat and Cheaper Than Other Brands, June 3, 2010
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Evenflo Snugli Cross Country Frame Carrier (Toy)
This Evenflo Snugli is the third baby carrier I have owned. My friend recommended it to me after my much more expensive Kelty carrier broke. My wife and I like this, lower-priced carrier better than the other carriers we have owned/borrowed.

The most impressive feature of the Evenflo Snugli is how flat it folds down. It is also more narrow than other carriers, but there is still plenty of room for my 3-year old son.

This is very comfortable to wear and you will find yourself using it for many other things than just hiking (walking the dog, shopping, mowing the lawn).

I was pleasantly surprised by this purchase and now recommend this carrier to every new parent I know.
