I was debating between this analog model and digital models. I have never heard the digital models to be honest. But this analog model has been great. I can hear minor changes in my daughters breathing and talk to her over it to "buy time" when I am busy and can't get to her immediately. I have had none of the problems with noise and interference some have complained about. If your family is on a tight budget like mine, this is in the best bang for the buck out there today.

We've used this monitor for 6 weeks with good results. I specifically sought a 900Mhz monitor because a) there would be no chance of interference with our WiFi network (or our neighbors); b) our current cordless phones are 5.8Ghz; and c) our previous experience with 900Mhz cordless phones in our house did not result in any significant static. Our house is three levels, and, to date, we've not experienced any reception difficulties, static, or need to change channels. All we hear are crystal clear baby cries...wonderful. The microphone is appropriately sensitive, and there have been no circuitry problems with the monitor lights. I believe the rechargeable battery is NiMH not Lithium Ion. We've had the monitor on battery for at least 8 hours without losing charge. Of note, there is a one- to two-second delay after pushing the "Talk" button before the two-way feature is activated. Although this is a slight nuisance, I'm glad the delay is there. Similar to a walkie-talkie, everytime the 2-way feature is activated, there is a *click* sound at sign off heard at the base. It's loud enough to potentially wake a sleeping child. I have accidently depressed the "Talk" button when picking up the monitor. Fortunatley, the delay prevents any accidentaly two-way activation.

I witheld a fifth star because I am sure that 900Mhz is not right for every household. If you have many neighbors using 900Mhz cordless phones, your risk of reception difficulties (albeit low) increases or privacy interruptions increases.

I always read these reviews when purchasing a product and have never actually written one before. However, I thought I would share my expereince before someone else makes the same mistake. We needed a second monitor and had no problems with our first Sony babyCall so I did a quick product research and purchased the evenflo Whisper Connect. Unlike the Sony it only has two channels, which does cause interference. However, the worst feature is the battery; either we recieved a defective battery or this is the worst rechargeable battery ever. It starts to die when removed from the charger within a couple of hours. In addition, for some reason I have not identified the monitor will be working fine and then all the sudden it sounds like a plane engine was placed next to the microphone. You need to turn it off and back on until the engine noise is gone. I ended up taking the Sony monitor from my son's room as he is now older and using this as a backup for him when needed. I should have stuck with what I knew worked. I have disliked this monitor from the first day, but had thrown away the receipt and could not return. If you do not mind having it connected to a power source at all times, the sound of plane engines, and have little interference in your neighborhood you can consider this an option.

As a senior caregiver, I am so happy to have the two way communication. The room monitor is completely hands off, it sends and receives automatically,and can be turned to high volume for those with difficulty hearing. The portable unit allows you to listen and respond to calls. It's amazingly powerful and has an unbelievable range....I walked several houses down the street and I was still in range. I can enjoy the out of doors occasionally and still stay right in touch. This is an outstanding tool for the senior caregiver, and the two way communication is really important to let someone know you care, you are there.

We have owned 3 (or maybe 4) baby monitors and this one by far is the best. The range is better than any of the others we've had and we have a one-floor house that is quite spread out and has thick walls. This is the only one so far that can cover the entire house without it setting off distance alarms. The rechargeable battery means (as long as you remember to keep it plugged in when you're not on the go) that you never have to change another battery - I don't know how many batteries we went through with our other monitors. This one has been super reliable for over a year now.

This is our third baby monitor. The first two had static if you would plug anything into the same outlet or get them near other electronic devices. This one has worked flawlessly in our home w/ zero static. The talkback feature is also wonderful for a three year old ("Go back to sleep," "I'll get you juice in the morning," etc.) Not having to get up and go to the child's room is a real feature.

The only reason I gave it four stars is because it only has two channels and because the signals aren't encrypted. Anyone else with an FM receiver can pick up your conversations, but most monitors are this way. We took the monitor to a friend's house and it picked up a lot of static/interference from something in the house (Video monitor, TV, I don't know.) Since it only had two channels, we were not able to find a clear channel.

Overall thoughts: Best monitor I've had (Stay away from the Fisherprice models). I would buy again unless I was in an apartment complex (I wouldn't want other people listening in), and I would be prepared to take it back if I needed more channels.

I ordered this monitor since the other one I had gave out on me. I knew I wouldn't need one for much longer so I didn't want to spend too much money.
I do get some static from time to time, but even through the static I can still hear my daughter if she needs me. Also, the 2 way intercom feature is pretty nifty. When she gets fussy and I can't get to her right away, I can at least call into her and let her know that Mamma will be right there. That usually calms her right away and she falls back asleep on her own.
I like it.

I believe this is one of the best monitors on the market! After reading reviews on various monitors I first bought the Sony monitor; however, after only a year of use, the battery died on the hand held portion of the monitor. Not being able to find a new battery, I decided to buy the Evenflo monitor. We love this monitor! The 2-way feature is fantastic. My husband and I can talk back and forth to each other without having to yell or run up and down stairs. I can also comfort my daughter by talking to her without going into her room. I have much better reception than the Sony monitor and a further range (even though the Sony monitor is suppose to have a longer range). I highly recommend this product.

I purchased this item for my elderly mother. She lives independently with a caregiver. This purchase was made so the caregiver could listen if my mother needs help during the middle of the night. The fact that it is a two-way, the caregiver can tell my mom that she's on her way to help her in the bathroom. I am more at ease knowing this product keeps my mom safe from falls even during the middle of the night. I would definitely consider purchasing another one for a baby shower. It's a shame they didn't manufacture this when my children were infants.

This is not product for a large house or if you want to work on your garden and monitor the little one.

The long range reception is very poor. For a small apartment or house I believe is very good.
