Book Description

August 1, 2000
Eleven ten-minute comedy stage plays to produce that are extremely funny, extraordinary low budget with common household props. They contain mild adult dialog with no offensive language. The plays are fast-paced and include two parodies of the TV shows "The Dating Game" and "Cops." (Drama)

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

The script is designed for a television comedy special event. It is also suitable for a stage play. A series of short skits knitted together to give families a run for their money in laughs. The comedy is quite outrageous as the themes revolve around the concept of Murphy's Law. Low budget. Script may be available for production. Note: Purchasing this script does not authorize production rights. Contact publisher for these rights before producing on TV, film or live performance. Address is on the screenplay cover page.

From the Author

Writing this TV stage play special was certainly fun. A tad of Twilight Zone twists in each sketch reinforces expectation and punch to the comedy. What is not supposed to be happening does occur, and what people should not do, they do. These situations are naturally comedic but I have taken these situations over the edge toward pure insanity to instill a deeper laughing experience for the audience.

More About the Author

I started with my first book back in 1972 and just kept on adding a book here and there and as the years rolled by I became a book publisher. I had no formal training and actually flunked English and math in school, but this did not stop me for I did not really know what success was for I was a failure most all of my life.

Then, suddenly, I look around and notice that I am not working for a living anymore. I have nice things and in need of nothing. In my case, success came as a wonderful surprise.

My advice to writers is to write your book, stage play or movie script and write some more, but do explore other avenues of writing for your success may likely come from those other sources.

I now write "how-to" books on fixing motorcycles and Christian books. What is next? I do not yet know.

1.0 out of 5 stars I want my money back, June 3, 2002

This review is from: An Evening Of Comedy Skits: 11 Minute Theatrical Plays (Paperback)
The back cover has blurbs like "Incredibly funny' and "powerful comedy" yet none of these quotes are credited to anyone. I suspect they come from the author. The skits are sexist and homophobic, but I could overlook that if they were funny. They're not. Laughs? I couldn't muster a smile. The book is full of misspellings and grammatical errors. AT [the price] a pop, surely they could afford a proofreader. As a bonus you get an ad to order "Bible tracks". Someone should tell the author there is no such thing; I'm sure he meant Bible tracts. I wasted my money.

There are plenty of good skits in this book. They aren't necessarily standing ovation skits, but they are decent. I used it with high school drama students.
