5.0 out of 5 stars the evening descends, evangelicals ascend!!!!!, January 25, 2008
This review is from: Evening Descends (Audio CD)
i never really felt the need to review any cd but this album is epic. i was hoping that it would be as amazing as their debut "so gone" but it might even be better. i am a huge fan of anything psychedelic and this album is dripping with psychedeliciousness. best album of 2008? easily! i know its blasphamy to say that this album is better than in rainbows, but i stand by it. BUY THIS ALBUM!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Magical Journey..., June 27, 2008

Simply brilliant... Tracks to cherish are "How Do You Sleep?", "Skeleton Man", "Party Crashin'", "Midnight Vignette" and "Paperback Suicide". Impossible to compare their sound to anything, but vocally, those who enjoy Clap Your Hands will feel right at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Holy C**p! Just simply stunning! The return of Catchy Psychedelia., May 21, 2008
This review is from: Evening Descends (Audio CD)
It is sooooo rarely that I stumble across a NEW Band that blows me clean away with a first listen.

The Evangelicals have their Catchy, spacey, experimental Psychedelic trip; down pat!!

I am a huge fan of 60's and 70's Psyche and on occasions I step out of that realm to check out Modern Psyche bands. There is so much s**t out there. Bands copying the Beatles with no originality, or wanting to sound like Hawkwind, you name it....I go right to the source and skip the pretenders.

I can however recommend the first SNOWGLOBE album, ALL NIGHT RADIO, SOFT CANYON and some of the E6 COLLECTIVE. There are others, but onwards...

These guys are something else. Almost impossible to pigeonhole - THANK GOD! But laced with the kind of potent Acid that flicks my switch the way I like it flicked. Heavy, Harmonious, Epic, Grandiose, swirling, phased, flanged pop madness...

It's sooo hard to put into words. Listen to some tid bits and see if that doesn't grab you.

I'm listening to this Album as I write. i was going to suggest Touchstones. But I honestly can't without creating a distraction from the complete Genius that is their unique vibe. Damn!

YOU LIKE PSYCHE? BUY IT; AND FREAK!

5.0 out of 5 stars It will love you, break you, then clean up after you., May 4, 2011
This review is from: Evening Descends (Audio CD)
This is a messy messy album. It's musical butter lathered over greasy hooks, extra-shot distortion, complete with milky voices pouring over all the sides, and it is absolutely delicious. It ignores convention, it bends every rule, and it gets awful close to destroying your speakers. These guys can write impossible melodies, create elaborate flow, bring it close to insanity, incorporate instruments banned from all serious alternative or indie music, and keep it from crashing. Just make sure to memorize how these songs sound before seeing them try to pull it off live.
