More About the Author

New York Times best selling author Shannon Hale started writing books at age ten and never stopped, eventually earning an MFA in Creative Writing. After nineteen years of writing and dozens of rejections, she published The Goose Girl, the first in her award-winning Books of Bayern series. She has published seventeen books for young readers including the Newbery Honor winner Princess Academy and its two sequels, multiple award winner Book of a Thousand Days, superhero YA novel Dangerous, and the first four Ever After High books. Her novels for the adult crowd include Austenland (now a major motion picture starring Keri Russell) and Midnight in Austenland. Shannon and her husband Dean Hale have collaborated on several projects such as Eisner-nominee Rapunzel's Revenge and early chapter book series The Princess in Black. They spend non-writing hours corralling their four young children near Salt Lake City, Utah.

I wanted to try out Ever After High, being a huge fan of Monster High, so I ordered this free mini-story. This is NOT a full-length book, so do not buy it under that premise. It was only about 15 pages long, but still hexellent. I love the character of Maddie-she is spunky and just fantastic, and really reminds me of the Mad Hatter. These stories seem to lead up to the Storybook of Legends, but I haven't read any of the others yet, or watched any of the webisodes. I'm still testing Ever After High, and probably won't get any of the dolls (I'm a true MH fan) but I'll read more of the books. I would recommend it to anyone, whether they're new to EAH or long-time fans. Read on for the summary of the story.
Non-spoiler summary:
Maddie is working at her father's (the Mad Hatter) tea shop in Book End the day before school starts at Ever After High. Clara Lear, daughter of King Lear, comes in and orders "regular" tea. Maddie gives her another kind of tea instead (read to find out what it is), and when another girl comes over, Maddie suggests that they sit together. Will Clara Lear make friends with this girl? Or will she be destined to be mean and grouchy forever after?
Spoilers ahead! Read with caution!
In this story, Maddie is working at her father's (the Mad Hatter) tea shop on the day before school starts at Ever After High. She encounters Clara Lear, the daughter of King Lear, who orders just "regular" tea. Instead, Maddie serves her charm blossom tea, and another girl comes over and Maddie invites them to sit together, and Clara turns out to be nice after all.

This book is one of the best books ever because it is about Maddie from Ever After High the best thing ever. I like it because it is about 1. tea 2. Maddie 3. happiness 4. meeting someone new and the best thing ever is that I can tell all about the swesome (sweet and awesome) things that happened about Maddie and her new friend. If you love/like Maddie you should read this book about Maddie. The End...or is it.

This story was tea riffic I'm even starting to speak like maddie because I was so interesting. I usually after I'm done reasonably I forget about it but this time I'll never forget this story because it's kinda like my life because someone has been rude to me and had judged me and ended up being my best friend in life like in the book with Maddie and Clara.
