Book Description

December 12, 2006
In this moving sequel to Even Now, Emily Anderson, now twenty, is attending college on a soccer scholarship when she meets the man who changes everything for her: Army reservist Justin Baker. Their tender relationship, founded on a mutual faith in God and nurtured by their trust and love for each other, proves to be a shining inspiration to everyone they know, especially Emily's reunited birth parents, Lauren Gibbs and Shane Galanter. Lauren and Shane still struggle to move past their opposing beliefs about war, politics, and faith. Shane believes it's possible; Lauren doesn't. So she says a painful good-bye to her long-ago love and returns to her job as a war correspondent in Afghanistan. Both Lauren and Shane are shattered, believing that this time their relationship has truly ended forever. Then tragedy sends shock waves through all their lives. Can Lauren and Shane set aside their opposing views so that love---God's love---might win, no matter how great the odds?

From the Back Cover

In Ever After, bestselling author Karen Kingsbury has created a moving sequel to Even Now. The book opens as Emily Anderson, now twenty years old, attends college on a soccer scholarship. Through an off-campus job at Fort Lewis, Emily meets a young Army reservist, Justin Baker. Their love—deep, emotional, and built on the foundation of a shared faith—blooms into plans for marriage. Even Emily’s parents, Lauren Gibbs and Shane Galanter, draw inspiration from this shining young relationship. But Shane and Lauren are being tested as they themselves make wedding plans. Although Shane works as a Top Gun instructor, Lauren still strongly opposes the war in Iraq. As Lauren and Shane struggle to breach the gulf between them, Lauren decides that the task is impossible. She returns to her job as a war correspondent in Afghanistan. Emily must say goodbye to Justin as he goes off to serve in Iraq. Then tragedy changes everything. Can Lauren and Shane do what they think is impossible—set aside their opposing views so that God’s love can win no matter how great the odds? 5.0 out of 5 stars I will remember this book ever after reading it !, February 11, 2007

This review is from: Ever After (Lost Love Series #2) (Paperback)
I am a Karen Kingsbury fan even though I feel she is a little redundant in explaining feelings and thoughts while building her characters. "EVER AFTER", if judged by tears shed by the reader, is by far her most moving book yet. It takes alot to make me cry during a book or at the end of a book but Kingsbury had me in tears for hours! I cried so much during the book that my husband asked me to why I continued to read it.
This creation is not just a romance but drafted in such a way to really make one dig deep and think. Even though I already shared her views it caused me to ask myself why I believed thus. Was I taught to have these views as a child or did I know the facts?
If a book, particularly a novel, can cause one to react and respond then I feel it is an exceptionally good piece of work. After reading EVER AFTER I sought out some WWII veterans to have lunch with and asked them to discuss their experiences with my teen children. We still have one or two to go but this has been a rewarding experience both emotionally and educationally.

5.0 out of 5 stars What do I think of EVER AFTER?...Let me tell you:, March 9, 2007
This review is from: Ever After (Lost Love Series #2) (Paperback)
Ever After is another book by Karen Kingsbury that I did not want to stop reading to eat, sleep or anything else. It truly is another fictional story that could and does seem to be the predicament(s) that we or family or friends are or have been as well.
It seemed to me that this book was less predictable than I have found some to be. I felt a wide range of emotions as I read this book and I think all readers of Christian fiction will enjoy Ever After. Kingsbury's books are not "preachy" and are absolutely like true life is or could be. The people seem real and believable.
I recommend Ever After highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Far from predictable...amazing!!!!!, March 14, 2007
This review is from: Ever After (Lost Love Series #2) (Paperback)
It is rare for me to cry when reading a fiction novel or watching a movie, because they aren't real. However this book, despite the fictional characters IS REAL. It portrays the situations of thousands of military families today. This book definitly took a sharp right turn from predictability. But that is what Karen is good at, writing about God's plan, not ours no matter how difficult it is to understand.

Like Karen said, I found this book to be about love and sacrifice. They are completely intertwined with each other; displayed first and foremost by Christ. Being that God lives in us inside our hearts, it is actually no surprise that sacrifice is necessary when trying to express our love for each other. But the beauty is that the sacrifices we make for each other don't have to be painful if they're made with loving hearts. And when made, they bring us both closer to Him and closer to each other. Pretty amazing stuff.

Whether you support the war or not, please take time to read this. It provides an incredible insight to the military and God's perspective on our ways. It'll probably make you cry, but you'll reflect on it for days and learn so much on how to apply it to real life situations.
