Book Description

2014 Indie Spiritual Book Awards Winner--Energy Medicine Category
1st Place Spirituality & Religion Category Winner E-Festival of Books 2012

What is “energy healing” and how can it change your life? An engaging spiritual memoir through healing prayer, alternative medicine and Reiki, "Ever-Flowing Streams: Tapping into Healing Energy" reveals multidimensional living. Learn the secrets of changing from ordinary to extraordinary.

From the "Prologue"

I sat down for lunch that summer day of 2005 feeling perfectly fine. Gazing out my dining room window, I enjoyed watching a pair of squirrels frolic along the fence between the giant oaks in my Oklahoma backyard. In the living room, the television hummed a Sunday afternoon football game. My husband would soon be snoring. I read a book and munched a few potato chips with my sandwich.

With no warning, pain shot up my neck and into my jaw. Ignore it. I took another bite. More pain, instant swelling below my ear.

Great, just what I need, I thought. Another attack.

Though I hadn’t experienced a full blown attack in several years, I recognized the familiar symptoms. Swollen glands and shooting pain that made eating impossible. I puzzled over what had set it off. Some might say “food allergy.” But after forty years’ experience, I knew the physical symptoms were merely a manifestation of a spiritual mystery.

As I sat cradling my sore neck, staring at my uneaten lunch, I heard a command in my head. "Go see that woman. This has something to do with a past life. Go see that woman."

Oh, for heaven’s sake. I flipped the book I’d been reading over and gazed at the cover—"One Soul, Many Lives" by Roy Stemman. The book chronicled case studies of reincarnation. Brother, was I prone to the power of suggestion, or what?

My spiritual and intellectual curiosity had led me to many subjects, including reincarnation. It wasn’t a new concept to me. I’d read quite a few of the popular books during the 1970’s. There’s a certain fundamental sense of order and justice about karma.

Didn’t Jesus say “As you sow, so shall you reap”? Wasn’t Dr. Laura always popping off about accepting the consequences of our actions? Reincarnation turns life into one big game of “Truth or Consequences” through time and space.

Still, wondering about reincarnation was sort of like pondering alien abductions. Maybe they were real, but I hadn’t personally been picked up by a UFO in a corn field.

As my neck throbbed, I wasn’t in the mood to ponder either ET’s or Eastern philosophy. Another attack was upon me and it hurt like hell. Going to a regular doctor wouldn’t help. I’d been down that road many times before.

The thought commanded me again. GO SEE THAT WOMAN!
“That Woman” was an English Reiki therapist named Helen.

Review

A book not just to be read, but experienced... While Ever Flowing Streams is primarily a book regarding Reiki, the power of God, healing energies, surpassing conventional mainstream thinking to heal the body, mind and spirit and encourages the reader to live a cleaner life through whole foods, essential oils and herbs - It has something that few books in its group possess: A genuine sense from the author that she truly cares about the material by investing her own history and memoirs into the work making it more than a Holistic-by-numbers cookie cutter book and turning it into a journey.--Heather Jeffries, Tampa Bay Examiner

An engaging personal story of faith and healing
...I had a friend telling me about her experience in connecting with those Ever-Flowing Streams and reminding me they are available to us all.
--Carol Woodliff, spiritual hypnotherapist, author, From Scared to Sacred

..will open your eyes to the wonder of the dimension beyond that which the eye can see for healing modalities and health.
--Faye Rosie, Naturopath & author The Power of Your Spirit

From the Author

I read somewhere if you can't find the sort of book you're searching for, write it yourself. I suppose that's what I've done. Twenty-five years ago The Healing Light by Agnes Sanford changed my life. As a Christian wife and mother, Mrs. Sanford explored healing prayer in a manner that broke through the conventions of the middle of the twentieth century, yet she remained true to her faith.

Ever-Flowing Streams uses my experiences to illustrate the lessons I've learned about healing through the years. The term Ever-Flowing Streams popped out at me as I thumbed through the Bible trying to come up with an image for the healing energies that pour through the cosmos. The modern connotation of "streaming" in cyberspace seemed a fitting metaphor for unseen frequencies of energy. It ties in the ancient image of life-giving streams of water with today's life-giving vibrations of Reiki and other energy-healing modalities.

Many Christians may question the "purity" of my faith as they read about the avenues I've explored and some of the startling events that have unfolded. I hope people will read it with an open mind and heart. My greatest desire for Ever-Flowing Streams is that it will serve as an inspiration for others to discover their own healing capabilities. Ever-Flowing Streams is one woman's story, but everybody's possibility.

5.0 out of 5 stars So glad I read this September 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
So often, the writing of memoirs seem to be for the author's benefit, more so than the reader. But the gifts of this book are certainly for the reader. It's an amazing, riveting tale, that will make you look at healing and spirituality in a different way. However, she's not preachy about her beliefs and doesn't try to argue her position. She's merely sharing her incredible journey as a Christian embracing alternative forms of healing and spirituality. If you've ever thought there's more to the world than we can see, you need to read this. I know I'm going to be doing things differently as a result. Thanks for writing this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ever-Flowing Streams: Beyond Bible-Belt Thinking May 10, 2012
By Karl
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Dana Taylor is not only a highly talented writer, but also one brave lady. She opens her heart to the reader through her spiritual journey. I struggled with her as she found new spiritual expressions, tested the validity of those expressions, then finally, and joyfully, accepted them into her own belief system.

But "Ever Flowing Streams" is not some seminary dissertation! It is a very personal story full of doubts, "ah-ha!" moments, and in the end, love and hope.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Healing Power of Prayer April 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Dana Taylor has written an engrossing and powerful memoir that touched my soul. I literally could not put this book down until I had finished the last page. I read with an open heart and an open mind, and I came away with a new and amazing awareness of my own inherent ability to heal myself and to offer healing thoughts to others. Dana's story and her suggested healing exercises have strengthened my Christian faith, and I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who is curious about the healing power of prayer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended Read for Open MInded Seekers May 19, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Open minded seekers who love reading spiritual literature, biography and case studies will find this book combines those ingredients and mixes them with thought provoking ideas. Dana's struggles with her condition and her conscience will resonate for many people. Dana has had an amazing journey and while she initially resisted following her `still small voice' to conform to her traditional Christian beliefs, when she finally surrendered she received the gift of healing grace. It takes a lot of courage to step outside the safety of what is acceptable to our peers and even more courage to write about it and make those inner struggles public, but Dana has done this beautifully. As a Reiki healer who has experienced past life recall, there are echoes of my experiences in Dana's story. I knew I had to read it and I'm glad I did. There are many ways to believe and to walk the path of love. Dana shares her way of walking it with her readers. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Energy Medicine, Miracles and Prayer August 24, 2014
By Sage
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Superb book! This will create a beautiful bridge between the fear-based Christian community (not that they are all stuck in fear, but some are) and the world of those who practice healing prayer, energy medicine, and other truly spiritual forms of healing. This is an important book. I applaud the author for her courage and beautiful rendering of the story of her miraculous healing and the spiritual path she trod to come to that miracle.

This is a must-read for anyone, Christian or otherwise, who wants to be embraced more fully by the love inherent in the Universe for us all, thanks to the pure love of an all-embracing God (or Goddess, depending on your beliefs).

5.0 out of 5 stars Tapping into Myself February 18, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have known about this book for quite some time, but it took a "miracle" of sorts to allow me to open my mind enough to actually read it. A friend of mine, Mary Cunningham, who is on her own personal journey, sent me an email recently and suggested that I try to get in touch with a Reiki practioner for a Reiki massage. I was stunned. I could not believe the words, Mary is one of the most skeptical people I know, at least she used to be. Mary went on to tell me about an experience she had had, and I was amazed to realize the change in her voice and her choice of words, her overall attitude. I was talking to this fresh and invigorated person who was more excited about something than I think I had ever seen her. It warmed me. It inspired me. So when Mary said she had read "Ever-Flowing Stream: Tapping into Healing," twice, and loved it, I decided to put my well being in Mary's hands. Turns out I was putting it in my own hands.

Dana Taylor has offered up her view of something that has not always been widely accepted. Reiki and self-healing are often considered "unsavory" to say the least. Dana offers her personal background with regard to life and how to get the most out of it. She doesn't give the meaning of life, but she certainly offers insight into how to give one's life meaning.

Powerful stories and raw emotion are masked beneath her subtle humor and downhome personality. While the book is not a tutorial or a lesson, it is a guidepost to consider something more.

As a Muslim, I will say that I sometimes found her Christian analogies a bit confusing, but they did not detract from the ultimate goal of the book. I did not read this from my religious self, I read it from my whole self. I would especially tell anyone who has issues with forgiveness to read this book. But be forewarned, it won't change your life. You will have to do that yourself, and Dana Taylor helped me realize how much I want to achieve.
