5.0 out of 5 stars LOTR for teens February 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Great plot keeps you going to the end. Shade is a regular teen one day and out to save a world she knew nothing about the next. She discovers she is not what she believed herself to be and may even be more.

Shade hears voices and well, they send her on a journey of discovery about herself and the world around her. Turns out she is the only one who can accomplish a very important mission. But will she go?

The mirror. All I can say is THE MIRROR.

The characters were intriguing and kept me guessing. The pace was non-stop action.

This is a great read for those who love a great adventure story. It really was like Lord of the Rings for teens. Twists and turns that keep you guessing. A MUST READ!!!

Well done Alexia!!! I cannot wait for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining Twist on the World of Faerie February 28, 2012
By Author
Format:Kindle Edition
Ever Shade is a fast-paced tale of dark and light magic, with an engaging heroine who is only beginning to learn about her true self. Shade is human, but she is something more, too. When she witnesses a magical battle between two faerie foes, she is drawn into a world she never dreamed existed. Filled with brisk action, wonderful magic and unexpected turns, Ever Shade is a fun, entertaining read. And the best news is, Alexia Purdy has more books coming in this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars I risked my Kindle Fire in the shower.... March 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am not kidding. I was so engrossed in this book, I moved furniture so I could read this book while taking a shower. It's not a dirty thing, I swear. I just couldn't pause for even 20 minutes to stop reading this book. Originally I was going to start my review out as Alexia PLEASE CONTACT TIM BURTON...because I could so see him doing this like a Coraline or even Edward Scissorhands type flick. Maybe even Peter Jackson. Regardless, this is a must read.

Alexia draws you into a world. I literal felt like I was standing next to Shade the entire time. Her characterization is superb. Her imagary is beyond words. Alexia Purdy puts a lot of YA to shame. I cannot wait for her next installment to Shade's story.

Alexia, please be clicky-clacking on your keyboard because I must know what happens next.

5.0 out of 5 stars A REAL PAGE TURNER TILL THE END !!! February 29, 2012
By Fathima
Format:Kindle Edition
HOLY FAIRY GODMOTHER !! I GOT BLISTERS ON MY FEET - Ow , ow , ow * Hops around * nope ,i'm done walking for now . I'm not going anywhere
Wow , what a journey Ever Shade has been !!! So new and so unexpected ! Lets get started with this review before the Demi - fey arrive . They are 'yours truly' sinister and can be quite a handful .You dont want to get trapped around here when that happens .

Ever Shade is the story of Shade , a teenage girl . Shade is your average yet so-not average high schooler . Confused ?? Dont be , once you read the book you'll know exactly what i'm talking about . So just chill . Anyways , so shade is not your ordinary high schooler , she's different - she's always been and because of that she considers herself a freak . But then one day everything she thought about herself and the world around her changed . what events will that change bring forth and will Shade be able to accept those changes in her life or will she crumble and give into hopelessness and despair ?? Answer to all those questions is what awaits the readers in this epic journey called Ever Shade .

Cover thought : The cover is just plain gorgeous !! Simple and very true to what the readers can expect from this book .Ever Shade being the first book in this trilogy gives us insight on the fairy realm and Shades hidden powers - well not all of them , but a few . So keeping that in mind , the cover is absolutely justified .

Things i loved about this book :

Every single freakin thing about this book was awesome !!! Not a single moment of boredom ! If i had my way i would have devoured it in a single day . But no , that could not be a reality ! * Sighs* .. Anyhoooo , what matters is that i finished the book and OH.MY.GOD !! Seriously , what a journey it has been ..

1.0 out of 5 stars Needs an editor January 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
As an 11th grade creative writing assignment, this is an A+. As a published book, not so much. This book needs an editor. For example, she "peaked" over the table. Since this wasn't a sex scene, it should be "peeked". The girl was "self-diluted". I'm assuming she meant self-deluded? Otherwise it just means she drinks a lot of water, I guess. Everyone in the book talks like a teenager, so the characters are all pretty flat. There are also many punctuation errors.

Personally, these things detract from my ability to enjoy a story.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ugh, I HATE a whiney heroine... February 28, 2013
By Manda
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I could only make it through half the book. Who knows, maybe it got better but I just couldn't get into it. I'm more interested in a strong witty female lead. Shade was whiney and severely annoying. Why me?.... Why don't they like me?.... What did I do to them?..... FOR THE LOVE OF ALL GET SOME BALLS! This, and I use the term loosely...heroine... needed coddling and her hand held throughout half the book. I couldn't take it. If you don't mind that, by all means, buy it. But if you're like me and e enjoy wit and at least a spark of bravery... find another book.
